So I know I can't be the only one here that finds it sooo much easier to draw if you have proper music. What sort of music usually works for you? Or, what's working for you now? For me it really depends on my mood and what I'm working on. Like right now, I've been working on a lot of lore and concept designs, so even though I'm working on commissions I'm still enjoying my mental stimulation from this playlist: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn5vfUA2rTU&feature=share&list=RDLi9Vi_-Nufk&index=40Mmm, Celtic.

I'm a diehard metal head, so my inspirational music tends to be... well, metal. It's usually the light and fluffy stuff that makes the best inspiration for me, though. I could surely list a hundred songs, but here's just ten of my favorite: Ayreon - Hope (links to an alternate demo version, which is pretty much exactly the same as the album track) It comes from a really cool concept album in which the main character is in a coma where he deals with the embodiments of his emotions to confront his problems and wake up. This song illustrates a point at which his best friend is sitting beside his bed talking about old times much like the video would suggest. Dionysus - Anima Mundi Translates from Latin as 'Spirit of the World' It's typical upbeat power metal, but something about the chorus and the main keyboard riff is just awesome. Manowar - Kingdom Come Classic metal from all the way back in, what '86? No matter how annoying that outro probably should be, I love every second of it. WHOOO-O-O-OOOOO-O-O-OOOOA! Nightwish - Storytime The children's choir in this song is legendary. There's actually a music video, but it cuts out the best part of the song. Sonata Arctica - The Day The intro alone is monumental, but the rest of the song is pretty moving in its own way. It's pretty obvious in the lyrics, but this song is about a man who loses his family in a tidal storm - tragically beautiful. Stratovarius - If the Story is Over The choir / guitar solo could surely move mountains. It doesn't quite dethrone Eagleheart, which is like the power metal song, but again - tragic beauty. Devin Townsend - Life Therion - Lemuria Van Canto - Speed of Light Acapella 'hero' metal, as it's called. This band's all about uplifting stuff, which is strangely the style that seems to motivate me the most. Power Quest - Far Away Power metal doesn't get much better than this. Seriously, dat chorus.
You might say I have strange taste.

I listen to a lot of Coldplay and Cold War Kids for inspiration. (A Rush of Blood to the Head is my favorite.) If I'm not lazy enough to log into Pandora, I usually listen to oldies like The Hollies, The Turtles, The Beatles, The Eagles, Steppenwolf, The Temptations, The Youngbloods, Creedence Clearwater Revival, etc. I've recently heard of Starcadian, and they have a lot of wonderful songs. Starcadian - He^rtSometimes I'll listen to classical piano or... any type of foreign music that grabs my attention. If I'm working on animation or Future Agents stuff, it's usually the oldies or anything else upbeat. (And more recently dubstep.) Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress
Anything else depends on the subject matter.

It depends on my mood and what I'm drawing as to what kind of music I listen to, but general speaking the kind of music I post on my music tumblr is what really inspires me! There are too many tracks on there to name precise ones, however I do have a few artists. Those include Capsule, de de Mouse, 80kidz, Shinichi Osawa and I could go on....

For me it really depends on my mood and what I'm working on. ^ Same here. I'll pick music to match what I'm drawing. I'll usually listen to techno/trancey kind of stuff. (More specifically jcore, jtrance, rave, and gabber) I believe I have a very odd taste in music (mostly consisting of anything without words or lyrics), but I can enjoy dubstep, hip-hop, and other mainstream things sometimes too. I made a somewhat diverse list here with Movie score, Happy hardcore, what sounds like creepy mixed with rock, and Nu-style gabba. When I want to draw something with god powers (Preliator - Immediate music)When I want to draw something cute (Same Dream - Dj Sharpnel)When I want to draw something creepy (Mephiles theme 2)When I want to draw something cool (Nitrx - T+pazolite) (warning: loud) I listen to my own music like a loser (warning: super lame)

For me the piano is so relaxing and beautiful, it can get very deep reactions from me. Otherwise I do love 80s music (more instrumental than singing ones though) and I guess I like some of what is popular as well? Oh also I do like steam punk it is verrrry cool to me!! Their outfits in bands or music videos really sell the style tho, it's soo good.
