lol It's amazing how everyone has a different opinion when it comes to art. You're stuck in the middle hearing all sides of the circle and it just confuses you. One person likes it, another hates it. They love a certain style, but the other person says it's not unique, and it's just argument after argument. It sounds like it went better than what you initially expected, so that's good. And his remark about OCD... I have no idea. And they really can't tell what the story is from three minutes of animation. That would irk me too. It sounds like they motivated you to go above and beyond, so at least you got something really good out of this. Keep up the great work! It does get confusing after a while ;; While the professors are professionals, two are 60+ year old men. They aren't my target audience for any of the more fantasy work, whether it's stylized or based in photo realism. The fact that my classmates really liked it is a bit more assuring to me, since they're in my target audience? @@ I also feel like that one professor loved my observational drawings is because I handle brush pen (I do most of my observational work in pen now) very very similarly to him. So since its close to his signature style it's very aesthetically pleasing to him. I think that ocd comment will just forever be a mystery.xD I nervously laughed at first before he said "I'm serious" to which the supportive professor quickly interjected "Show the finished one now" before we could go down that hole any further. It's funny they always seem to motivate me more by trying to pick at certain things haha. I don't know, I just want to show that success as an animator doesn't just come in only one form ;u; I am glad it went better than expected though phew, I always get worked up with that one professor reviewing

I'm happy to hear you're not letting it break your spirit Arenia! Sounds to me like he's misusing OCD. Unless he's meaning your stuff is so in place that it's not as rough as it could be and you spend a lot more time on sketch work??? Even then that's a stretch. Who cares if your own ideas look "amateur" to them. The fact is you're doing that FOR FUN in your SPARE TIME. You've got talent that not many people have. To just pull ideas straight from your head and put them down in sequence is a lot more amazing than people seem to realize. Also, just a little tidbit. A lot of people discouraged a lot of super successful people when they first started, and then they continued and made it big. Don't sweat it, just do what you love!

It really does sound like he's just misusing it, I really have no idea what he could mean by that @@ The piece he was complaining about was a technical drawing done for a final that got an A and my classmates found it more attractive than the things they were gushing over haha xD The thing is, that was a 48 hour technical pen drawing that had to stick to very specific parameters in terms of how we handled the lines and shading and even the style so it was kind of ridiculous for him to compare that to a 1 hour observational drawing anyway xD I never got the courage to show anything that you guys have seen before orz Yeah I've noticed that haha! My alumnus mentor for thesis was telling me how when he was in school they were discouraging him from drawing cartoons! He was great at observational drawing too so it wasn't a cop out for him, but a couple professors still did not support it. Now he's super successful as an animator and has his own production studio! So there's always going to be roadblocks somewhere C: And now its winter break yessss Time to finish scene 6? Hopefully? Lmao

I finally managed to finish page 1/7 of the first of my commissioned comics last night when I was streaming. Phew it was a lot of work. Now just.... 6 more to go LMAO How long do you get off for break? Two weeks or something?

It's a nice long break ^^ I have been and I'm super grateful because honestly it's been what's saved our car and stomachs these past few months. >_< Unfortunately not enough for rent but I'm hoping they'll send his check soon (it's short term disability since he's hurt) and we'll be able to pay off stuff. It's been held up since August it's ridiculous. Yeaaah the comics are a LOT of work. They're also a bit... er... out of my norm. But I'm being paid super well and hey, can't hurt to practice feet. LOL My watchers will probably have mixed reactions though, but I'll tag them as mature warning so they can look at their own risk. (Even though the only "nudity" shown are her feet LMAO) Once I get these 7 pages done, I have another 6 pager for him, and he's going to send more commissioners my way for more comics. So I guess I will get comfortable with them sometime HAH. I've considered making some of my projects animated or visual novels... and I've even considered an RPG or two. But I may very well start them as comics just to get them out.

Oh my gosh I'm so glad ;0; I hope that they send his disability check soon though, sometimes they just beat around the bush so much with that it's absolutely absurd. It'll be good to explore outside of your comfort zone too, and being paid well is always a major plus Haha are they a fetish-type comic in that case? I've considered opening up commissions including "mature" ones but I've never posted any remotely mature art on any accounts before, I think it'd send people into shock lmao. It's great he's referring you out though, hopefully you'll just get a ton of work and not have to worry anymore!! (And you'll be fantastic at drawing feet ) I think the faster you get out your projects in any medium, the better, since people will be able to sort of latch onto the concept and characters more quickly. And plus, if you start it as a webcomic, there's no rule saying that you can't make a visual/animated novel or an anime of it too C:

XD Yeeees they are the "tickle" fetish type. So it's a bunch of laughter and curling toes, etc. It's been good practice so far. lol I'm sure people would be shocked, but hey, sometimes that's good! If you do take on commissions though I will warn you, stick to taking a set amount because it can get overwhelming very fast. My art drive was crushed/burnt out earlier this year because I had to take on 33 to make the bills. @__@

I'm pretty sure a large chunk of my active viewers on Tumblr are 18+, but I know that there's a ton < 18 so I might make a separate suuperr secret blog for it? Haha I don't knowww Oh my gosh 33?? It's good you were able to pay your bills but FFFF that is a HUUGe amount! Holy wowow, I'm not surprised you burnt out ;; I was thinking of maybe taking like, 5 over the break, but I might wait to take commissions until after I graduate if I'm unable to get a job right away? ;u;

Take a few here/there to build up a bit of a name for yourself. A lot of people don't deliver with commissions so people are skeptical of who to pay. At first it can be hard to get them, but after a while you start building up returning clients, clients that recommend you, etc. Then, if you have that established when you've graduated you will be able to open them up and rely on getting at least a few. XD Also you'll have to start out selling cheap, but you can slowly raise your prices.

Hmm, I would hope if I could work off the name I already established on Youtube and such, I'd hope that'd help at least? ^^ It's really sad that people don't usually deliver with commissions, real money is involved so they should really take their work seriously, especially since it just hurts everyone doing commissions in the long run. I've never understood that at all omg. I'm reaaaaally not keen on lowballing myself though, I might just do freelance work off-line instead if prices become a problem ;u;

I will help you get set up however I can if you get around to it. Yeah people just don't care as much as they should about others. :\ How someone can accept money and run off I dunno. I feel bad that someone who paid me for an animation hasn't gotten back to me in months about the details but they paid me x__x And it's not even me running off LOL

Sob sometimes I see people charging like $3 for a picture to start off with and it just hurts my soul, especially when people complain about that being expensive x.x Yeah people can really be so callous toward others, I know my conscience would be gnawing away at my insides if I did that haha!! Lmao!! Did he forget he ordered a commission or something!? Wtf!!

No they just never came back online. I emailed them/noted them once or twice a month for 8 months and nothing. o__o So... if they ever come back.......... then I'll eventually be able to work on it? LOL Yeah I feel expensive even though I've been told I'm super cheap. I get paid on average $50 per full body. But then when someone asks a price I'm always like "What's your budget?" because I feel bad asking for that much. x.x I had someone complaining about how I was their most expensive commission but I was like "Well um........ "

Well when it comes to commissions I just turn pretty much everyone down. I would like to do some simple drawings but most people ask for long animated video, which would be way too time consuming. Also most of the ideas they have bore me instantly, I guess I'm not made for the commission world... I will have to found my own animation studio to do my own stuff all day.
