What's the point of buying music anymore? During my middle school years(around 2006 - 2010), buying CD players, MP3 players, and such was totally worth it. You were either listening to the music alone or sharing it with family & friends. The year is 2016 and the internet is evolving. It's more then likely that it has more variety than a majority of your nearby stores. Music is no exception and you've probably downloaded a few illegal copies yourself.
So what's your point? Are you saying music companies should rely on handouts/donations, because people can get their products for free anyways? No, I'm saying that the $0.99 songs are a load of pixie sticks. Why buy a cheap song when all you can do is listen to it? The world has evolved and not only can we listen to music through more advanced devices, the ability to create ideas using music is also available. Even if you purchase a song and make a non-commercial video using said-song, your video is still bound to get taken down.
So change copyright terms? Not exactly, rather than buying a cheap listen-copy, how about increasing the song's monetary value and giving the customer an authenticated code allowing the user to use that song. If the website flags the video, the user can just put in this code as a way to validate their "special" purchase. Who said money doesn't grow from trees?
Yes, you could ask the copyright holder for permission, but how long would that take? Would it be worth their time even though they said no? What if they never respond back at all? This is exactly the point, when it comes to buying music. Who wants to just listen to the song and say, "Oh that was a great song, let me stop there". No, that's not how things should be. You should be, "Wow that was an amazing song!, I've got an idea that could go great with this". Thus, brings us back to the main idea. What price would seem fair, if you wanted to pay for a one-time-use song? Meaning if you wanted to use it in another video, you'd have to make another purchase. We'll assume that the song's length is about 3 minutes although there are a variety of other factor's that I can't currently think about.
Is $50-100 too little? I'd say around that price range, if that doesn't fit the bill; I suggest you ask a doctor, before watching my fanimes. #CancerAwareness
