"Perhaps I should introduce myself." Raei reached behind her pointed ears, pulling off the mask that hid the bottom half of her facial features. Now was the time to make connections and build friendships if they saw any hope to defeat this thing that was terrorizing their lives. Thrusting out her left hand, the woman smiled. "I'm Raei. I'm an Ice Mage, but I specialize in espionage. Hopefully my addition to this group will bring more luck to us." Raei then looked to the few surrounding the area. "Perhaps I should introduce myself to others as well..." "Any addition is welcome!" Anden reassured. "Nice to meet you, Raei." "Introducing yourself is a good idea. I still have to meet some people myself. I didn't expect so many to show up." he admitted, looking over the strange group of strangers. Meanwhile, the pulsating segment of horizon began to swell and sway in the direction of the castle. It was still barely noticeable, but something was surely going on over there. Whatever it was, the survivors would soon find out.

Raei nodded, her fingers laced around the details of her facial mask as it sat in her other hand. No reason in having this out. The blue haired woman tucked it in her jacket's pocket. Now the question was who to speak to now... She didn't want to throw herself into an already active conversation and suddenly introduce herself. Perhaps she should properly thank the woman who'd healed her. norimoApproaching the woman, Raei cleared her throat slightly, tapping her shoulder. "Excuse me, ma'am. I didn't properly express my gratitude earlier and I wanted to apologize for my rudeness. Thank for you assisting me with my wounds. My name is Raei, I'm an Ice Mage." Raei bowed her head slightly before extending out an arm. She wasn't sure if asking for handshake now was strange or not, but she was trying her best to fit in despite everyone here being so different.

"There is no need to thank me," she shook her head, before raising an eyebrow upon her eyes wandering from the female's hand. "An ice mage?" her eyes scanned the figure from head to toe, her attire noticeably thin for one who dealt with such a chilling practice. While she personally had little idea of how the logic of the magic worked... she couldn't help but question the person's regalia of choice. "Do you not get cold? I would worry about frostbite..." After finishing her inspection, Delphi took notice of Raei's palm still outstretched. Her body was free of nicks, scrapes, and bruises making it clear that the notion was for a different purpose. With that, Delphi extended her own arm and lightly "gripped" the woman's hand- as the term was loosely used. Her grasp held no firmness, and the manner which she shook Raei's palm was weak and brief before she sheepishly pulled away from the gesture. "As your healer, I am simply paying mind to what concerns me," she spoke abruptly, as if brushing away the foreign touch.

Nursery Rhyme watched Pema race into the forest, answering a cry for help that apparently only he could hear. Pema interested him, being that golems typically lack sentience, only performing whatever its master willed it to do. His existence reminded him of his own as a Fable. If the golem ever returned, they'd have to have a nice conversation. Nursery Rhyme had many questions for the stone man.
He turned back to face Poppy. "That was the Emotion Hymm, right? You play it very well, yes! Thank you for your performance." Nursery Rhyme's eyes wandered down to her smile, which seemed to permanently be plastered onto her face. Her mouth was full of razor sharp teeth that happened to be a dazzling shade of white, almost resembling fine porcelain. There were many races with sharp fangs instead of the flat molars that humans had. Just by looking at her, he couldn't tell of which race she was actually from, so he took a few guesses. "Worlen? Huntrie? Ash Elf?" Thinking about it further, the majority of all Elven subspecies generally had pointed ears, and since her hair was obscuring her ears, he couldn't be sure she was that either...

"As your healer, I am simply paying mind to what concerns me," she spoke abruptly, as if brushing away the foreign touch. Raei smiled a little at the woman. Ah yes, likely this woman knows nothing of my people. No wonder she is confused. "Of course not. I was raised in chill tempatures and up until the thorns attacked. In fact, I was there all my life. If you also factor in the fact that both of my parents were ice mages themselves... You could say I grew a sort of... immunity to the cold itself." Smiling, she wished to bestow more wisdom upon the other. "In fact, the less I wear, the more powerful my attacks become." Raei wasted no time pulling her arms out of her jacket and pushing the cloth behind her back to fully reveal her upper arms, stomach and thighs to the woman. They were covered only with a thin elastic cloth material, though it was a bit tattered in a few locations due to the last... encounter. After the half hearted handshake, Raei didn't know what to think of it. Was this how handshakes normally felt? This wasn't a common thing up north, but she'd heard of it. It just felt... weird. Taking her own arm back, the mage couldn't help but make a disgruntled face at the situation. "I see. Well, it's good to see you have you mind focused on your duty, then. From the sounds of it... we'll need cool heads around here." Raei couldn't help but crack a smile at her pun. "Luckily, that's what I'm here for."

((I can't really think of anything interesting to post but I guess I'll post this in case we're all waiting on my character to come back)) Pema came back to the beacon and continued his conversation with Nursery Rhyme by saying "I apologize for that interruption. By the way are your parents here or are you by yourself? You seem rather young to be here alone." He then noticed that Nursery Rhyme was talking to Poppy and added "Ah yes. Before you answer my question allow me to introduce her as well. This is Poppy. I just met her myself a few seconds ago but I know that she is a bard who is quite talented."

As the conversations and introductions continued down their strange paths, the distant wall of thorns moved more and more rapidly, swelling out dangerously from the West toward the entrance. The growth accelerated faster than anyone could have seen coming, and without so much as a warning, the swell was upon the outer wall. Pouring out from the massive thicket came uncountable numbers of thorn beasts, charging all very specifically toward the gate through the second wall. Within seconds the immeasurable wave of spiked creatures would be upon the group, roaring a cacophonous battle cry in voices neither human nor animal. The tide rage against the second wall of the castle, many of the creatures already breaching the open gates, and many more of the excess tumbling over the walls. The assembled survivors would have to take up defenses immediately in order to have any chance of fighting back. Anden was shocked by the sudden surge of thorns, which overtook the castle faster than anyone could have been expecting. He had never seen them attack in such a motivated way, and certainly never so quickly. Dropping all of his current thoughts and conventions, Anden stepped to an open space among the group and tore his sword out of its sheath. Was this happening because of the light? "Time's up!" he yelled in a much less friendly voice from before. Now they would see just how well these heroes lived up to the old legend. (( Here's a quick summary of some rough examples of what we're fighting. The basic Stinger is the more common enemy, and makes up most of the attacking force. They come in many variations of the shape pictured, but ultimately look similar to that. Stingers are very fast moving, and can climb most surfaces with their needle-like arms. Their bodies appear to be wound from thick branches, and are covered entirely in thorns. They are only capable of melee combat, but can be extremely deadly at close range. Roots are stationary attackers that pop up out of the ground and thrash the surrounding area. They range from ten to thirty feet in length, and whip as hard as the average siege machine. Roots are most effective at taking down buildings and walls, but will also attack any people within their reach. The most effective way of dealing with them is to sever the base. Swarms are insect-like creatures that travel in small, dense clouds. They are extremely mobile threats, but don't do a lot of damage. Swarm drones bite and sting, but are not usually lethal unless given the time to completely overwhelm their prey. They are best dealt with by magic attacks, and generally any attacks that have a wide area of effect. Fighting them with conventional melee weapons is basically pointless. Seeders are akin to walking tree trunks which fire heavy projectiles. While shooting forward they have an effective range of about a hundred feet, but when volleying shots upward they can fire much farther. They are very slow moving, but difficult to deal with at range, and generally make up the back line of any thorn assault. Typical seeder projectiles are simple blunt seeds the size of a coconut, though variations have been known to occur. Flowers are the least common of the thorns, and also the slowest. They take several minutes to bloom, meaning that more often the attack is over before they come in to play. However, once a flower has fully bloomed, its pollen spreads to nearby thorns and boosts different aspects of their abilities. The boost that a flower provides is directly related to the color of the flower, but there is no current record of which color applies which effect. I will be controlling general, nonspecific aspects of the battle. Feel free to control small groups of thorns and specific individual thorns as you see fit.))

Poppy's attention was quickly drawn towards Anden's yelling, the bard witnessing hoards and hoards of thorns penetrating their defensive walls and charging their way. She could feel her eyes widen as her fists clenched, her smile completely disappearing from her face. The enemy was here, and the battle was sure to begin any second, whether her team charged first or the group allowed for the beasts to reach them. Regardless, Poppy had no time to dwell on who would strike first. The only thing that would matter in this battle is who struck harder. Poppy drew her lute into position, her smile returning albeit a grin of confidence rather than joy. This was her chance to prove her worth. Prove that she isn't some useless musician or some runaway outsider. She was Poppy, best bard in the world!!! Her fingers immediately began to strum, the girl tapping her foot along with the beat to create more rhythm with which the first song could flow through. If they were gonna have to hit hard, Poppy was gonna make sure these thorns remember this team's punches. The Titan's Chorus began fill the air, the girl locking her eyes individually onto each of Anden's members so that they would get the full effect of her spell. With their strength up by 50 percent, these warriors would surely pack a punch. With the last chord strum and new strength brewing inside her, and hopefully each hero in her midst, Poppy shouted out. "LET'S GIVE 'EM HELL!!!"

Panna exhaled. And he was just starting to enjoy the peace of being secure inside the castle walls, too. But it would appear even Granite Castle wasn't impenitrable. Panna assisted the horde approaching him and his newfound teammates, his instincts telling him to flee yet his newly appointed leader ordering him to stay and fight. Panna would applaud him for his bravery, if he didn't think it would get the entire team killed.
The ground rumbled beneath Panna's feet. He cursed under his breath as the ground crumbled beneath him. Panna rolled forwards, barely escaping the root that emerged from the ground, shooting upwards as if mimicking the beacon before then slamming it's body to the ground. The earth around it quaked. Panna back stepped away from the thorn as he stood to his feet, knowing he had nothing in his arsenal that could cut it's base. The man used his hand to steady himself as he looked around the battlefield, searching for the young ones he had been speaking to moments before the ambush.
"What's the plan? Just fight them without a strategy? I don't mean to offend, but that's a piss poor plan," Panna called out.

As She Said This She Tossed Her Doll Into The Air When A Loud Bang Can Be Heard, Then A Knight Appears In front Of Storm Fly. "So Whats The Plan?"

As the thorns approached, Leander quickly moved away from his position against the wall, any conflict he had had with the plant woman seeming minuscule in comparison to the threat at hand. His eyes scanned the scene, his third eye seeing any breaks in the coming swarm before his main two could. He quickly shook the thoughts of fleeing from his mind. Running away was not an option this time. He had seen what these creatures were capable of, what they could do. Leaving his new found allies behind would mean he would be all alone again, and who knows if there were even any more survivors to be found? Leander would stay. He would fight!
Poppy's music filled him with strength and vigor as he took a position in front of the bard, intending to protect her as he had promised. He brought his foot down hard near a massive boulder nearby, and the rock flew high into the sky before plummeting back down and splitting. He picked up one of the pieces, being careful how he gripped it, and examined the sharper edges. It would do for a weapon, as just using his hands would certainly tire him out much faster.
He heard the single-armed man shout something about a plan and he kept his head tilted that direction as he wait for others to chime in. He was not a strategist, but he'd follow without hesitation.

It hadn't taken long for the stone golem to return from his apparent call to action, and they were soon back to discussing their thoughts on one another. Nursery Rhyme felt a strange tingle, like an electric discharge flicker through his head - one he usually only feels when he senses deep malevolence. He called upon his book, opting to hold it under his arm as he happened to glance out over the walls of the castle only to witness the massive threat that emerged from the darkness of the forest beyond. The distant wall of thorns moved more and more rapidly, swelling out dangerously from the West toward the entrance. The growth accelerated faster than anyone could have seen coming, and without so much as a warning, the swell was upon the outer wall. Pouring out from the massive thicket came uncountable numbers of thorn beasts, charging all very specifically toward the gate through the second wall. Just fight them without a strategy? I don't mean to offend, but that's a piss poor plan," Panna called out. As the effects of the Titan's Chorus washed over him, Nursery Rhyme muttered a flight spell and took to the sky, maneuvering himself over to where Leander and Poppy were stationed. Panna's questioned rang through his ears as he quickly scanned the area surrounding them from a higher vantage. As far as he could tell, none of the thorns looked extremely formidable, but they were overwhelming in numbers. While they might not be strong individually, if they get the chance to whittle down their strength, the plants could easily overtake them. A dark cloud was approaching them quickly, moving erratically and pulsating strangely in tandem. The insufferable buzzing emanating from the mass was drowning out all of Nursery Rhyme's thoughts. He threw his book above his head, holding out a palm as the pages flipped and flipped before finally stopping on one. Before the swarm could get any further, Nursery Rhyme had to stop them. "Drown thy regalia, bathe it in the holy light. The glint on summer's blade cleaves through the devout darkness, And banishes all things impure with a resonant flash Leaving behind only a trail of divinity that guides heaven's arrow to its mark."
A star shaped sigil of light formed in the space in front of the book, flickering as it diameter increased. Nursery Rhyme fired the blinding light beam, sweeping it across the Swarm, the attack completely engulfing the pests. The tiny plants burned to ash from the intensity of the light, the specks quietly falling down to the castle grounds below like snow. The question from the girl with the giant knight doll drew his attention back to the group. "There are too many, and we're completely surrounding. We need to secure the perimeter by pushing them back towards the forest, less they attempt to invade the keep and attack us while we're recovering. Poppy," he said, now addressing the bard alone, "do you have any spells that will make me faster?"

Poppy had been mesmerized by the magic prowess Nursery Rhyme seemed to contain that she almost hadn't noticed the child asking her something. She took a moment to process the request he was making before she snapped her fingers and smiled. "OH! Faster!? Yeah yeah!! I can make you go faster!!" She chimed as she repositioned her fingers on her lute and began to strum away. Her eyes darted from person to person as she began to play The Wind's Melody, albeit somewhat more hesitantly as she became worried she'd burn all of her mana away within the first five minutes of the battle. Once the song came to an end, she shouted out a bit shakily. "You all should be able to move way faster now!! Use it while you can!! It only lasts about 15 minutes!! Same with the strength song!!" She looked towards Nursery Rhyme and gave him a thumbs up. "You should be good to go!" She cheered.

"Plan?!" Anden shouted back in bemusement at the requests. Seconds into the attack, everyone seemed to expect him to have some sort of plan ready for them. Meanwhile they man himself was still acting on reflexes.
With a few quick slices Anden chopped a group of stingers. The wide arc of his blade made it easy to mow through multiple at once so long as the sword's edge was sharp enough. A few more times Anden did this before finally giving the others a response.
"Hold them at the gates!" he decided, motioning toward the large gate behind them which lead to the keep. "If we get pushed back..." he slashed again "We go inside!" It was a simple enough plan. The castle was designed for siege, so standard siege procedures were most likely their best bet. If anyone was expecting a detailed battle strategy... well, they were out of luck. Though there was time enough for everyone to decide for themselves how best to fight. The slight sloping of the top of the hill meant that they still had a little bit of height advantage, and with the castle behind them they surely had suitable fortifications. On either side of the gate were two guard turrets which would have made made excellent positions for any archers if they only had some. Otherwise, they had a solid wall to put their backs against, which at least meant they weren't fighting in all directions.
Stingers raged in ahead of the charge as clusters of the swarm buzzed overhead. The ground rumbled ahead of them as unseen roots crept closer in preparation to breach the surface. Far behind, a growing collection of seeders were shuffling toward the walls, ready to start firing as soon as they were in range. With the way that the thorns moved, this fight would likely get more difficult the longer it lasted.

Pema used his sound magic to make Poppy's songs louder in order to enhance their effects. Now with the speed and damage boost Pema would be able to storm right into the hoard of Thorns, but he hesitated because he heard danger coming towards them. His sound magic allowed him to hear the ground rumbling as well, and noticed the rumbling quickly getting closer and closer to them. Pema shouted to the rest of the group "Something is coming towards us from underground! Prepare yourselves!" He unsheathed his massive sword and held it in front of him almost as if it were a shield. The stone man rammed straight into the Thorns and not only managed to block their path, but he even managed to push quite a bit of them back a little. Pema created a sound that irritated the Thorns, causing most of them to attack him instead of advancing towards the keep. Pema then slashed with his sword and managed to kill 2 Stingers in a single slash, but while his aggressive strategy seemed effective at first, it caused the Thorns to attack him from all angles. 3 more Stingers that Pema wasn't fast enough to block prepared to attack his left side, and he wouldn't last long on the front lines if nobody attacked them.
