"...Orfange?" Vulpe mused meekly. The boy speaking did not understand what she was saying, but it was likewise in reverse. Whatever he meant she wasn't sure on. Scrunching her shoulders Vulpe sulked down. Who knew if she would get an answer that she wanted. "Okay..." She muttered slowly taking a step forward. "Heehee!" Earnest seemed pleased that Vulpe had decided to come with him. He would have grabbed her hand, but both of his were currently full from carrying the spears. "Well, off we go then!" He directed her towards the river, where the two came across another girl he'd yet to speak to. He waved enthusiastically at the stranger, almost hitting Vulpe with the sharp end of the spear. "Oop, sorry, sorry!" He chattered nervously, before returning his attention back towards Lucy. "I see you're fishing! Nice, nice! So are me and Vulpe here, Theo is coming in a bit!! Oh, I'm Earnest by the way!! One of the welcoming committee members." He started waving his spears around again with glee before catching himself and putting his hands strictly to his sides. "There's a pond farther along! If you wanna come!" He then noticed that she seemed to be struggling. "Oh! Would you like some help, miss?" He dropped one of the spears and approached her to help catch the fish. ChibiGissy

Lucy turns to someone noticed her. Oh, it's the enthusiastic rabbit boy that was hanging with the spider boy from the day before! And there also a fox person with him as well. They seemed to want to help out.
"Oh! Thank you. I'm sure I'll handle this but I really appreciate the extra help!" Lucy chimed. "My name is Lucy, by the way. It's nice to meet you, Earnest and Vulpe!"
At that moment, Lucy was able to catch a fish. One that seems to be a little bigger than the usual fish.
"Oh! I caught one!"

Well, this didn't feel good. Was he being unreasonable? Or did he come across as mean... Theo never really cared about any but himself since he snuck into the orphanage. "Fine," he turned to leave, "I gotta go fish with the weird rabbit kid. I'll share my catch with you later!" He took Sylv's hand for a handshake and ended up grinning. It actually felt pretty good to be honest with someone.
Theo made his way back to where Earnest and the other were, trying to put on the cheery attitude he adopted earlier. "Hey! Sorry I took so long-" He saw that Lucy was there. "Oh... um, hi?" his voice turned nervous. Would she be unwilling to talk to him again after yesterday?...

"Oooooooooh!!!" Earnest's eyes went big as he stared at the fish Lucy had caught. "WOW!!! WOW WOW!!!" He pointed at it with one of the spears and grinned at Vulpe, hoping she would share some of his excitement. "Look! Wow, oh my!" He attempted to give a thumbs up, although it wasn't easy to accomplish with the spear in hand. "Great job, Lucy! Great, GREAT!!" Miki Sayaka"Oh, Theo!" Earnest exclaimed. "This is Lucy!! I asked her to join if she liked, she's REALLY good at catching the fishes, she sure is!" C♡c♡

Lou lowered himself steadily. He never seemed too focused on anything upon arriving to the orphanage up until this point. Fixed onto the bush, he leaped into it, losing himself in the brushes. A shrill squeal was heard before it abruptly stopped. "Yyyyes!!" Lou cheered triumphantly, rising up from the bush. His messy hair caught leaves and twigs, but he couldn't be happier. He turned around quickly to race back to camp to see a watchful Carmella. He let out a small 'yipe' in surprise, but quickly recovered. "Aye lookit what I caught!!" He beamed with joy, extending his reach. In his grip he held onto a deceased rabbit by its foot, "Quick'n painless, too!" cassiroll

"Well done," She nodded, satisfied with the kill. "You'll have plenty to eat for lunch. Why don't you head back to camp and help me light a fire? I'm sure others will be coming soon to cook their food as well." She cocked her head a bit. "Unless you'd like to continue? I have no problem with lone wolves who can hold their own and hunt. If you're enjoying yourself, then by all means sharpen your skill further. It's your choice." She started to walked away back to camp, giving him plenty of time to decide to either return to camp with her to cook or to stay in the forest to look for further prey. Either way, she didn't mind. She was happy one of the children were self sufficient.

"Yeah, we look like friends or family!" Merle grinned, happily shaking Gear's arm now. They were just a liiittle bit upset to not find any claws on these hands. Weird, right? Right?? "Good to make your acquaintance, Gear! I'm Merle - I think it means 'blackbird' or something? Kinda funny, right? I can't fly at all, eheh." Just about all of their fear had fluttered away. "How'd you get your name? Is it because of the gear you're wearing?" The badger kid tilted their head at the out-of-place object strung on the cord around their new buddy's neck.

Gear pondered. "Uh, sure. Nice to meet you too, Merle!" They look like family? Well, they all might as well be family, right? Orphanages are for those that don't have them, after all. Gear shifted his hand to cover his necklace. "Uh... yeah. That's what the other kids called me when I entered Meredith's - oh, that was my first orphanage, by the way. After that it just kind of stuck... This gear is pretty important to me. Does it look weird?"

As Carmella continued to walk, her stride slowed as she seemed to notice something for the first time since they'd arrived here. "It's very....quiet." She stopped in her tracks, having made it quite a bit farther than Lou, but that wasn't why she'd come to a halt. The normally lively forest was chillingly silent. She couldn't remember seeing a single bird since they'd all arrived. It was a wonder Lou had caught that rabbit at all, with how still things were. It was still early fall. Migrations had started, but even then the forests were never fully abandoned. Something was wrong here. A sudden gust of wind startled the Keeper, reminding her of where she was as the sounds of leaves rustling filled her ears. And with the breeze, a peculiar smell... She turned towards where the scent came from, eyebrows pulled close together as she took a few tentative steps towards it. The bushes were thick here and pulled at her dress with their thorns. It was only when her foot hit something that wasn't foliage that she ceased moving. She parted the bushes carefully. Her expression became stoic upon revealing what was beneath. {GORE WARNING}The dragon girl's carcass lay twisted on the ground, blood soaking the grass around the body. Her eyes and mouth were wide open in a permanently horrified expression, and Carmella could see the singed edges of her hair and burns on her skin that had led to the unnatural smell in the breeze. The claw marks were the worst, going in long rows along her entire body and leaving her cloths barely in tattered pieces.
Carmella silently pulled the bushes back into place over the girl, no emotion showing to indicate what she'd just seen.
"Lou!" She called out sharply once she was farther away from the corpse. "Hunting is over. We're returning to camp."
She didn't wait to see if he followed, quickly taking to the sky and soaring towards the cabins in the distance. She landed mere inches in front of Machi, her eyes fierce. "Gather the remaining children and take them immediately into the nearest cabin. Tell them to start cleaning their kills or preparing their meals aside from the cooking. When you're done, come back to me." CURRENT OBJECTIVE Have your child go into the cabin and start preparing their food (some time may have passed in between so they can have gathered/caught something before Machi finds them). The atmosphere indicates that something is clearly wrong, but you don't know what...

Sylvie pondered why Theo acted the way he did. He was acting like the winning man by being so happy. This made her envious, though her frustrations were projected towards hunting. On her way back, Sylvie stabbed a pig to eat later. The skies darkened with a chill through the air. Sylvie returned to the camp with the pig still in her spear, waiting for what was to come.

"Woah, and I'm just a newbie!" Merle remarked. "And yup, it does stand out, but it looks like some kind of magical item. Hehe, I bet you're a wizard or something, Gear!" . . . . . . . . . . . . It had been agreed between Merle and Gear to gather whatever plants they could recognise from each of their handbooks. Although it was just Gear carrying the knapsack at first (it was his, after all), the bag began to feel like it was filled with bricks. So Merle had to help carry one side of it. In truth they probably would've wanted to carry it to pay Gear back for crashing into him, but it really was too heavy. Taking a peak at the contents every now and then to make sure nothing was falling out (The bag was overfilled. They were very enthusiastic about helping out.), Merle could see apples, cherries, parsley, basil, clover, and probably some mint. "We sure did well today, huh, Gear!" Merle grinned over at the still-mysterious guy. (( zenguardian + possibly cassiroll )) Attachments:

Theo managed to spear up four fish, one of which he had to make sure Sylv wouldn't take from him. He had to eat too. She probably wasn't seriously thinking about letting him starve all day. At the cabins he tried his best to act like he was enjoying himself, fearing what would happen if he dropped the persona he foolishly put on for Earnest and Machi. At this point, Theo hoped from this point on he wouldn't draw too much attention to himself. He started waiting for his turn to use the fire.

"We sure did well today, huh, Gear!" Merle grinned over at the still-mysterious guy. "Yeah!" Gear nodded. He was grateful that Merle had been with him. He wasn't sure he could have carried all of the stuff they'd found if he were alone. As they were making their way back to the camp, Gear had noticed that something was... different. The air felt sticky. He had no idea what it meant... but he was sure it was nothing. Even so, he still picked up the pace a little bit. He just wanted to get back to his cabin and eat! Merle and Gear had made it back safely. The others were all gathering into the cabin they'd be staying in. "Let's go show them what we got." He said to the badger kid, leading them into the cabin. He found it odd that the cooking would be done indoors as opposed to outside, especially since there was plenty of light out, but then again, the stuff he and Merle had foraged didn't particularly need to be cooked anyway. Maybe they were going to rest before moving onto the next activity.

After spending the day with with her acquaintances, Lucy had gotten a few more fish. She went into the cabin, cleaned her fish, and began cooking her meal there. Luckily, she learned the ways of cooking fish from her parents. Back when things were okay when she was still with them.... All the while, she felt something in the atmosphere, that somehing might've happened. Well, maybe it's best to figure it out later.
She continued to cook from there.

Earnest seemed more than a little ecstatic at being in charge, his big eyes bright and wild in the light near the fireplace. "I'm in charge now," He said, rather triumphantly, to anyone who was paying the slightest attention to him. "No one else here qualifies, so it's me! Yep, sure is!" He scooted closer to the fire, his skirt getting caught on a nail. He quickly pulled it up, making sure he hadn't torn it, before continuing to move into the heat with sparking eyes. "Anyone wonder why that iiiiiiiiis~?" He said with a nasty smirk that looked odd on his childish features.
