Red didn't care much for the prospective parents or getting to know them. But as talk of something more physically engaging came up they're interest was drawn. As they headed out to the lawn Red removed their jacket, vest and cravat. They placed the cloth into the jacket's pocket and carried the clothing with them, the white shirt they wore under everything showing clear signs of stains once there. Once outside they set the clothes down slightly out of the way and began rolling up their sleeves and pant legs, listening to the rules as they began some basic stretches. "Heh, some warmup time 'lda been appreciated. C'n make due with this, I guess."

Iksel was suprises to find himself and the other adults competing against the childen. Granted, they were outnumbered, but physically the children where out matched, especially since it seemed at least a few of the other adults had abilities like he did. Was he expected to throw the game?
How very... un-Iksel.

Jove followed Carmella and the crowd, a frown plastered on his face as he contemplated his options. The game sounded fun, much more fun then anything he was allowed to do back at his old home. But he was being allowed a time to speak now, he could finally ask for the change of clothes he desperately need. A bead of sweat rolled down Jove's neck as he considered the right action to take before finally he shot his hand up.
"Um. Yes. I was wonder. Could I maybe. Not be Erica anymore?" He was unsure how else to word it, but hoped his question would be taken seriously.

The adults had introduced themselves to the children, Gear having barely paid attention. In fact, he tried his hardest to avoid making eye contact with any of them... but one adult in particular caused Gear's focus to latch on to them as they walked past his row of children and took the podium. Gear couldn't explain the aura he sensed from the man. The area around them felt warped, swirling motes of color entwining with the air directly surrounding around them. It made Gear dizzy. It felt as though he were submerged under water. That was the best he could explain it...
Now, he stood on the other side of a drawn line. Carmella had insisted that they play a game as a sort of bonding activity. He'd done things similar at the other orphanages he stayed at, but nothing that involved something so physical and competitive as dodgeball. It seemed counterintuitive to him.
Wolftrap had silently taken a seat after his introduction. He had garnered the attention of the majority of the kids; his light emission abilities working so that he could see each of the kid's faces as their eyes were drawn to him like moths to a flame. A few in particular had appeared confused, and those were the kids he marked as interesting specimens. He only output enough light to catch their attention, but it should have been barely visible to most of the kids if not all. More testing would be required on the children he marked.
The primary keeper of the orphanage called for a little game to be played between the parents and the children. Wolftrap stood aside and listened to the rules. Now would be a good chance to observe the children of interest further...

Carmella seemed a little perplexed at the question, looking the currently femme presenting child up and down. She had had little time to interact with them thus far aside from introducing herself as a their Keeper, and wasn't quite sure where this was going. "And what else would you like to be called?" She responded.

He had picked out the names of characters that appealed to him before finally settling on one that matched up with how he viewed himself, or rather- the self he wanted to be. "Can I be Jove? I like it because it's a boy's name," he stated, though there was more to it than that. Like how the spelling was similar to love or how it made him think of a prince, but the keeper didn't need to know that.

Dodgeball?
"Who asks a bunch of kids to play before letting them eat???" Theo said, pouting. "The only thing that would come out of this is-" he paused, suddenly thinking that this would maybe be an alright way to release some pent-up aggression. Theo never really played outdoor games before, but had read about some of them in books. He guessed that the concept of dodgeball would be self-explanatory. He smirked.

Like how the spelling was similar to love or how it made him think of a prince, but the keeper didn't need to know that. Carmella nodded, not fully understanding what the child was asking, but she'd understand in time. "Jove it is. Now, if that's all the questions for now, let me get onto the prize---." Carmella frowned, having gotten to know the REAL Theo a bit more over the last week, and certainly not happy with his attitude issues. "That's the prize," She stated simply. "While parents are here, children and parents play for the first meal of the day. It isn't exactly orthodox but it's what the head mistress has deemed necessary to keep our funds in check." She looked over at the parents, some of whom she could tell were familiar with such practices. "I'm sure you understand. It can't be helped." Carmella journeyed over to Atticus for a moment, kneeling down next to him and trying to capture his attention. "Play. Nice." She spoke as clearly as she could. She held the ball in front of so he could look at it and sniff it if he wanted. "Avoid." She said, shaking the ball again. She knew better than to try teaching him how to throw. For now, this would be enough. Once that was finished, she went back to the center. "Alright then! Here we go!" She jumped onto the parent's side, grabbing a handful of balls and tossing them directly at any children within her line of sight.

Atticus stared at the ball shoved in his face for a moment before looking at the woman with disinterest. Play? Nice? Play WHAT? Be nice to what? The ball? She just said to avoid it! The croc grumbled to himself and rolled on the floor, not bothering to get up as he still had no real concrete idea of what he was supposed to be doing. All he heard is avoid the ball, and the balls certainly couldn't get any closer if he didn't move. Its not like they could fly through the air or anything.

"Finally!" Red hopped in place once. They physically braced themself to dodge things as they sized up the adults. They couldn't say for sure how well any of them could really hit but it was already decided. They definitely would not get hit. Allowing that to happen wasn't something they could afford. As much as they would have loved to act aggressively, it's something Red's learned the consequences of before. "Mayb' you c'n make this fun f'me..." They slurred quietly as they put all their focus on their surrounds.

Edel had had his hands in his pockets to keep them a bit warm until he and the other adults were informed of... a game? Ah, dodgeball! Delightful! That brings back fond memories... If he still had his tail it'd be swishing on the floorboards right about now. It had been too long, too long since he'd last played. His eyes were lighting up like a cub's when it first meets snow.
The man found a chair to fold his tweed jacket over, and stretched his arms, then his legs. Time to just have fun playing a game with his prospective children.
I'll let them try to get me first. That's what we adults should... do?
It looked like the Keeper was initiating the battle. Edel sighed inwardly.
Then grinned and picked up a cloth ball himself.
It's on!

Merle smirked - no longer feeling the need to look apologetically at the others - at Theo's expression before tugging at their bird boy buddy's sleeve. Obviously they also located and signalled for Lucy to come and team up. Lastly the badger child held a hand out to the new sea-creature orphan.
Now that they were looking properly at this person, their eyes grew wide and shiny. A seadragon, right? A sea dragon?!
"J-..."...-iang, that name, immediately flew into their throat and Merle choked a little. No, no! This wasn't really Jiang. Actually, not at all, right... But that was something Merle would have to come to terms with soon. Because here was someone completely different, in need of a friend...
...and Merle felt a sudden urge.
"Jove is a lovely name! I'll happily call you by that name, Jove!"
Merle forced a grin. But it was genuine, alright.
"Let's be friends, too, okay, Jove?"

A small smile grew on Jove's face before he happily nodded at Merle. This was the first time he got a reaction like this, it was nice. Really nice. Jove couldn't pinpoint why something so simple felt so good to him, but he certainly hoped it would continue to happen. "Yeah!!" He responded with fluttering leafy ears, dumbstruck on what else to really say without gushing. Jove's attention was then turned towards the barrage of cloth balls Carmella sent towards him and the other children. The game was on and if Jove lost he wouldn't get to eat. He sprung to his feet, trying his best to predict where each ball would go. What he wanted to do was catch one of them, though he was still uncertain of his ability. He wouldn't know until he tried, though.

Dogdeball, huh? Lucy hasn't played the sport but she has seen other kids play it on the streets before their perants say that it's not allowed. At least in the area she was in before coming to this orphanage...
Lucy then of coarse took Merle's signal and walked over to them, wanting to team up with her honey-badger friend anyways. She sees that the seadragon, which appeared to have the name "Jove".
"So, you're name's Jove? That's nice!" Lucy chimed "I'm Lucy, by the way. It's nice to meet you!" Ohhhhhhhh Dodgeball. Celesthy remembers having fun playing the game, in spite of her getting hit in the face. Multiple times. Ah well, it was still fun! Celesthy observed the three of the kids, the honey badger, the seadragon, and Jerboa. She smiled that they seem llike they may have good friends. She sees one of the other parents picked up the ball.
"Oh! Is it starting already?" Celesthy asked

Theo kept by Merle, noticing they were tugging on his sleeve. He shot an look of murderous intent in Earnest's direction. I'm going to pay you back nicely for knocking the wind out of me, you psychopathic nutjob stalker bunny! Then Theo realized a meal was at stake. "This whole place is a joke..." he said to himself under his breath. But he shrugged and grabbed one of the tossed balls.

KEEPER WILL BE STARTING BACK UP ON JANUARY 22ND If anyone would like the RP during this time here is a quick summary of what has happened so far! So far, all orphans have been introduced and assigned to bedrooms and their Keeper, Carmella. A camping trip was taken where several orphans were killed and a strange child was discovered who had been living in the woods for years. Carmella decided to take the child back with them to the orphanage. Parents are currently staying at the orphanage with the children for an annual adoption event that happens at all orphanages every year in hopes of getting some of the kids adopted. All the parents have just introduced themselves. A game of dodge ball was played (mostly skipped in RP due to the hiatus) where the children lost and thus will not be eating dinner, which was the reward. Currently, the parents and staff members are eating supper in the dining hall. Carmella is escorting the children towards the basement, where they will be meeting the Head Mistress for the first time. Other information and application are on the front page!
