That is cool that one of the top five is near your home. I'm not knowledgeable when it comes to any animation schools, but then again, I'm not going into animation either. What did those people tell you about that school? I'm interested to hear!

This is a really cool article! *0* I probably couldn't study abroad for grad school because of the expense, but I know one of my friends is at #36, the Tokyo Design Academy and she loves it. You're lucky to have such a good school close to home though! :DD

So I now have a good keyboard, so time to write something with it.
So about the school I'm going to apply to, there are some information I got. First of all I've met a girl, who did not study there, but grew up in the city, where it is. So she told me about the place, which is kinda fancy, they got like 3 castles there if I'm right and it is full of baroque architecture, which I like a lot, but the people seem to be a bit bigheaded, especially the film students. They were described to me as the "vine drinking kind of people". I do not exactly know how to feel about it, but well...
Now for Harry and Waldi, who were students there. Waldi was pro and Harry con, which gave me an pretty honest idea about it. From the pro side I heard that living in the dorm is a lot of fun. ;D You also got a huge amount of great technology there. Most of the people who study there are the most professional in the whole country, not just in animation but they also have quite a good idea about what the industry is like, so the whole film making process is covered. Also they got this really cool gaming treadmill where you can actually walk around in games and shit. Awesome.
From the con side I was told that the courses I rather too short to really get into the subject and you are kind of autodidact anyway. Also the school would sell your animations while you would not get so see anything from the money and they would be not big fans of you having a part time job, since they want you to concentrate on the animations, that they will use to make money.
Which I am fine with, like I do not care if I make that much money as long as I can animate what I want, which I was told to do from the con side. That the people that stuck to their own stuff are going to become more successfull then the people who are being influenced too much from the school. Also if you study there, you get to know a lot of important people who can offer you jobs, so it is great for making contacts.
They also look for students, who are into story writing, so own projects are liked to be seen...
And I guess that's pretty much it from what I know about it. I still have to visit it and talk to people there, but apart from that I guess I'm pretty sure that that's the school I want to go to.

#4 does seem rather tempting, as it's here in canada... however that means I'd have to move away from my family and boyfriend and go to the western side, which I don't think I could ever do :/
