A little while ago in the fanime skype group a few of us talked about meeting up at Ohayocon in Columbus Ohio. We figured that would be the best con since so many people in the community seem to be in or around the Ohio area. Right now there's just a handful of people who might go, but we figured it'd be good to post here and see who's interested. The convention isn't until January, so there's still plenty of time to plan and prepare.
So yeah, this is a thread to discuss the idea.

I should be able to attend this! To be honest, it's not really the greatest of cons (especially with their bullsh*t wrist band ideas last year that will hopefully cease to exist next time around) but I'm willing to attend if a handful of you are up for it! I like the cons for the experiences and the people I meet after all.

I'd definitely be up for it, if my schedule and funds allow for it! I don't know too much about Ohayocon but it'd still be fun to go to any con as a group! C:

Oh snap! I went to Ohayocon a few years ago. I'm honestly not all that interested in anime conventions or dressing up in cosplay, but it might be worth it if I get to see you guys. That would be fantastic. Maybe we could plan a picture exchange or something as well.
However, I'm not sure how it would work with my college schedule. I'm going to assume I'll be on winter break in January.
I'll have to keep it in mind! This would be a very nice meet up.

This seems really exciting! The thing is that I'm probably not going here... at least not at this rate.
For the most part, I'm not in this skype group. You guys seem to all know each other fairly well or really well, but I haven't even had a single conversation with most of the community yet. I would be excited about meeting the community, but I'm not even sure if the community would even care to meet me since I haven't really interacted with the people here.
Also, Maryland isn't necessarily conveniently close to Ohio. I would probably have to take a plane. I would have to ask my family if its okay to go, and my family knows pretty much nothing about the fanime community so they would basically just be going for the convention. I also already planned to go to Otakon so it just seems doubtful... but who knows? There's still a slim possibility.

I am not a part of the fanime skype group either, though it would be nice if I knew who all was in it. I think there's a bunch of people in it that I don't know either. We would love to have you with us, but I understand the complications. It is a fairly long trip from Maryland to Ohio, plus plane rides aren't cheap either.

I'd love to go but like otakrap, it's too far for me. I live in Las Vegas on the other side of the country. xD

I am in the group skype chat, but even those who are in it can say I don't post or pay attention to it too often, so it's nothing to worry about not being a part of it. But if you're interested, I'm sure we could add you to it no problem. You don't have to work for the spot haha!
It's too bad for the people who don't live close though.. I only live about 4 hours away from the con center (Living in Indiana and all) so it's not too bad for me.

Eliteparanoid usually goes to Ohayocon. She moved way up north though, but I'm sure she'll make the trip down here.
Also, Kisaka, I didn't know you lived in Indiana? Whereabouts are you? You can PM me or not answer, but I have a lot of relatives in Indiana (multiple locations) and they're about four hours from Columbus.

Yup! I live in Indianapolis Indiana, right in duh central area more or less. I live around some bus stops so I can get virtually anywhere that's good in the state hehe. That's funny because I know like, at least 3-4 people now that have family members in Indiana. What is it with Indiana and family members wanting to live here??

It's nice that you have easy access to just about anything you need. My relatives aren't in Indianapolis, but they're very close. My mom's family came from Indiana, so I guess some of them just wanted to move back or start out there. Have you ever been to Richmond, Indiana? I go there quite often for shopping since it's about 20 minutes away. And to hopefully keep this on topic... have any of you considered getting an art table for Ohayocon?

I actually was considering it, but I've done artist alleys a few times in the past and its honestly more fun in my opinion to walk around with friends ;v; I'm still thinking about it though, its just a looot of preparation and work

Im in New York, I was actually considering going to otakon this year but I cant make it, and I dont really know anyone going anyway xD I've got a ton of family in ohio though which is why I don't really think twice about making the trip haha!
