So you want to start a thread advertising some commissions?
Where do you start? What's the best way to get your information out there and get people interested?
These guidelines are here to help you out in getting the most out of posting about your (or others') commissions here on the forum!
Posting about your own commissions:
Post pictures of the kind of art you draw. Try and make it broad, ranging from your different styles, poses and kind of commissions you offer. If you offer sketch, colored and lineart, try and give examples of all of those.
If you made a post about it on another side (example: Tumblr) and you want traffic there, it's a good idea to link to it but also give identical / similar information here on the forum so others don't feel they have to go out of their way to see this info.
Keep it as organized as possible. Try and start it off with a small introduction, and explain your pricing, what your offer and give examples of your work.
Posting about other's commissions:
If there is a link to the person's commission page, it's best to link that to give them the traffic they were probably hoping for since they aren't a member of the forum and as of such, won't benefit having all their info posted here.
Get permission before posting pictures of their work publicly on the forum. While they probably already posted it on a blog post or what not, some people are not keen on other people posting their work on other websites without permission (regardless if it has credit to the original artist or not). So if you want to show off the kind of stuff they are good at and are commissioning, try and limit it to just worded information versus picture unless you get permission first.
Keep it professional! If you're trying to help out the other person in getting commissions, try and give as much helpful information as possible and leave out the unnecessary stuff. For example, we want to hear about their pricing and how soon they get commissions done, not about how they have six dogs and three siblings. Also, don't throw them under the bus. If you've had a negative experience with the commissioner and want to warn others about it while posting information, please try and keep it within reason. If you're worried whether or not it'll look bad, feel free to contact a moderator to ask. If we see any hostile posts about the commissioner though, we will take action against it.
In closing, just try and be organized and give as much information as possible!
