1. Keep the drama in the role-play. Characters may disagree and dislike each other, but this should not be mistaken for hostility from the author.
2. Do not post sexually explicit content. Suggestive material and 'time-skipping' are permitted, but explicit sexual writing is not allowed on public boards.
3. Make sure that posts are an acceptable length. Try not to write too much or too little for any given situation. Frequent one-line posts are heavily discouraged in most circumstances.
4. Original content only. Do not use third party characters or stories. All role-playing material should belong only to the players involved.
5. Thread owners have full control of their threads. As long as a thread creator follows these rules, they can choose what is or isn't allowed. Thread owners are also allowed to deny characters submitted to their thread for any reason.
6. Write out of context messages in double parentheses. ((Example.)) Excessive posts containing only out of context messages are heavily discouraged in most situations.
Most role-plays do not permit certain actions. These will usually be listed on each thread, but some important examples are:
Godmodding - controlling another person's character without their permission.
Power-playing - making unfair or impossible actions that are uncharacteristic.
Meta-gaming - giving a character knowledge they couldn't possibly have gained from their perspective.
Auto-hitting - any major contact with another character that doesn't give them a chance to react.
Derailing - drastically interrupting the plot of a thread and forcing in one's own plot.
