Inactive-ness?

I think what we need the most are more members. Even if people are less active, it all stacks up if there are a lot of them. As the community grows, it should begin to fuel its self. Couldn't say how much it'll take, but at least a hundred members would surely keep the place moving somewhat. This place doesn't have much exposure, and most of the members we have now joined after it was advertised on the Fanime Confessions blog. I'm not sure where else to go, but we could absolutely afford to advertise more as long as it's not invasive.

Apart from more straightforward forms of advertising, I figure it'd help to have more creative ads as well. I remember the idea of some type of collab a while back - surely something like that would grab some attention. Maybe even a 'contest' of sorts. Would you consider the girl in the banner the mascot? There could be some sort of 'contest' surrounding her - one for each medium, even. Or, if she's not so important, there could be an event centered around creating a mascot. Possibly even a small group of them, so there could be multiple 'winners.'

Also - BUY TOYS AND CEREAL! Perhaps another 'contest' of sorts for creating a cute little video advert. Neither idea has to be particularly competitive, but it's more exciting when you think of it like a competition.

But yeah, basically stuff like that gives people something to do and be excited about, while also gaining exposure for the site and bringing in more people. Maybe we could even have a regular thing. What about bi-weekly mini-contests? All you'd have to do is choose a theme or prompt, and people can write, draw, voice, sing, or even animate their entries. Naturally for this and my previous two suggestions we could decide the winners via community vote. I say bi-weekly because it's a long enough time frame to accommodate busy schedules, but short enough to not take too long. It could potentially run weekly if there's enough interest.

Heck, (and now I'm DEFINITELY rambling) the animation thing could be its own monthly event. You get a month to enter, and then there'd be a voting period of about a week. Each entry would probably be at least a minute, but no more than five. Dunno what the winners would get. Maybe we could establish some sort of sentimental point system. If only for the fun of it.

In short form, I suggest contests. Gets the community active while simultaneously acting as creative advertising.

I agree with you two! I guess we'll just have to try a little harder, yeah? Once I get into the groove of uploading again I'll have to make another announcement video...
