The melody playing from the phonograph situated under the garden's magnolia trees came to an end. At its conclusion, Manasa rose to her feet, silently counting the crowd and then addressing the woman she had been conversing with before then speaking to the entire crowd. "Thank you for your time, Claudia. Everyone who has gathered here, please follow me. The meeting will be starting shorting if there are no objections." Manasa then promptly lead the group into estate's walls. The woman's look soured as she noticed the lack of presence she really had in comparison to the rest of the crew, especially at the dirty janitor who had the gall to look at her wrong. A kingpin in money laundering was nothing compared to the interesting members only the fucked up world of city life could cook up: and that was jusssssttttt fineeeeeeee. It was only a few minutes after that the future matriarch of the estate escorted the entourage within the mansion. The culture-clashing decor really did do wonders to the estate: it gave the estate a gaudy yet regal sort of class that couldn't be matched by anyone else with a mind not in the gutter of greed. Yet that was not the most shocking thing to assault her eyes. That came when she entered the room, smokes and refreshments lining the tables with a man sitting up front, clearly looking similar to the hostess. A son? The man was effeminate, sure, but the fact that Mr. Jaratkaru had the gall to hide a child's existence despite the loyalty many of them had was appalling. There was only one explanation: He was illegitimate. The man must have had several wives, one of them gave birth to a son who was never mentioned. Even then, it happened all the time in the business, so it should have been no big deal. All she had to do was stay in her lane and snag some of those cigars and shove them in her pocket. The woman was dying to smoke some, but she already had her trusty Cuban cigar going. The large woman caught the old lady's eye, her familiarity causing a twinge of animosity. This woman ran a speakeasy that she was a semi-regular at back a few years back, and the whiskey they served was possibly the worst she had had in any lifetime she could have lived in. But at least her business made some damn good brandy, so that was an excuse to steal the seat next to her as well as pour herself a bottle of whiskey out of spite and chug it. She'd need that drink to deal with everybody.

After taking a bit of deep breaths after for a bit after clearing her mind, Asutane walked in to where the meeting is talking place. She notice that Manasa is there, to which Asutane was not looking forward to. She notice a guy in a white suit is there. Is that like her brother or something? Hopefully HE is not associating me with the stupid act my sisters did. She sees Vernon and Annie are also there.
"Hello, my name is Asutane Mizukasai." Asutane spoken, trying to be well mannered to the guy in the white suit. "I hope you don't mind me taking a seat during this."

((As of this time, Emily will be leaving the RP due to scheduling. Wish her the best! ))
Vasuki drew a breath as he took in the features of Aleece as well as the array of other individuals before him, an eclectic and eccentric bunch all hand selected by his father... for whatever reason. It was certainly not his place to judge. He trusted his father's judgement in that everyone before him must have reason to be here, and that alone was enough for him to respect them despite how dodgy some appeared.
"You were informed correctly, at the time," Vasuki stated, addressing Aleece yet doing his best to keep the conversation brief. Things have since changed. You were never intentionally misdirected. However-" He turned to addressed the group proper, voice elevating. "That is not the matter we will all be discussing today."
Manasa sat down in an empty seat at Vasuki's end of the table, nervously turning all of her attention to her cup of chai. Any minute now, any second he'd tell them how much of a failure she was, how little her father saw in her.
"Neither my sister or I will be inheriting the family from my father."

Vernon sat there confused for a moment as he contemplated what Vasuki meant in terms of his response to Aleece before the answer clicked in his head. A slight smile spread across his face which he quickly hid with his flask as he began drinking his concoction of several different beverages. However, when the news dropped on the table, Vernon nearly choked on his drink.
What?? What does he mean the boss ain't giving the family over to one of his kids?? The man sat their dumbfounded for a moment as he looked around the room, scanning the different guests and slowly creating theories as to why they were here. "So, uh.... what's that mean, exactly? Are we votin' on some new leader or are we disbanding or... whaaat's happenin'?" Vernon asked.

"Neither my sister or I will be inheriting the family from my father." "I see..." This statement was more than enough to raise Robert's eyebrows, as well as a few questions. Turning to Shirley, who was already looking at him with a stoic face, he shrugged while looking around the table. "Well, this sure is some kind of assortment to be given such news." Shirley whispered to her boss entertained by the thought of some of these people trying to handle so much responsibility. "So that's that then," It was rather strange news to deliver to a group like this. "what's next?"

Aleece brought her hand slightly away from her face, eyes widening a bit at the news before she resumed her laid back appearance. "Apologies for stepping out of line~," She said, biting the nail of her smallest finger and batting her lashes at him. "No intentions of being rude, I promise you." When he continued, she did her best not to loose her composure again, despite how shocking the news was. "It would be unfortunate if your father's legacy went to waste," She spoke delicately. "I do quite enjoy the work I do here..."

It wasn't uncommon for syndicate bosses to hide the existence of other children in the hopes of protecting them or saving face, but having worked for Jartkaru for the past couple of years, Sibyl could say with certainty that the father of these two had a greater sense of morality than that. As far as dons go, Takshaka was by far the kindest. "Neither my sister or I will be inheriting the family from my father." Sibyl lowered his glass at that, looking at Vasuki quizzically. "If neither of you will be receiving the inheritance, then who will?" Pointing his glass towards Vernon, he said "This man raises a good point. Surely you aren't considering disbanding this company? With all due respect, there is a certain balance to these things. Rival gangs fear the Jaratkaru. And without our influence, this city will fall."

As the aforementioned senior took her spot besides Claudia, she couldn't help but raise a brow at the way the woman so crudely poured her swig. There was something familiar in the fashion of her movements, yet nothing she could pinpoint precisely. While her staff typically insisted on pouring for their guests, some of the more pompous individuals would merely snatch the bottle away as if to impress the dolls at work. Perhaps the woman's flick of the wrist simply reminded her of such.
The corners of her lips crooked, as if finding a hidden pleasure within the words. A daughter and a son. Certainly a handsome fellow...
But not as lovely as my own.
She stifled a laugh.
Though her thoughts were directed elsewhere, and her brows had slightly thrown up at the claim. Looking around at the faces of the table, she surely did not believe this to be the only connections of Jaratkaru's. His influence had been vast, and the city was at the mercy of his iron fist. She leaned in her chair backwards, her eyes narrowing as she peered around the table, tapping her polished nails against the cloth with a thoughtful expression. The question begged at her mind, but it would be foolish to get one's hopes up now, especially with the surrounding patrons.
"Sibyl's right," she affirmed, shooting a wink in the young man's direction. A fine help he was, especially to her in the past. While she knew little of the other's affairs, Sibyl had been a demolition expert. For Jaratkaru to have invited him along, there was surely something at stake. "Lest we forget about Tartufo," Claudia leaned forward now, resting both arms within her lap, "Yet, I am sure you would have told us of his resignation as matter of fact... so if I may be direct, Mr. Jaratkaru, what is the real reason we have been summoned?"

"Hmmm..."
Asutane scratched the side of her neck a bit as she took what Vasuki said into account.
"So, what may occur now?" Asutane asked, curious to what's going to happen now.
She is slightly worried that neither him or Manasa will not be inheriting the family from there father, even if Asutane is annoyed with Manasa's accusations.

"Neither my sister or I will be inheriting the family from my father." The woman's eyes widened as the words fell out of the man's mouth, side eyeing Claudia to catch her reaction as well. Her polite demeanor was a shocker, especially when cold hard cash was at stake here. Hell, inheriting the company when she was almost as old as the aging patriarch was out of the question logically. But money and power had its allure, even if it defied all logic. She took another puff of her cigar and inhaled the fumes, it being the only calm in her almost giddy excitement. "I'd have ta ask the same thing too, whetha or not we gotta help out ya fatha or get some of tha money for ourselves?" Her response was crass, but she felt she earned enough respect to be a little less polite than usual.

Vasuki shook his head. "I cannot fault you for being misinformed. But back to the topic at hand."
Vasuki cleared his throat. "Despite neither my sister or I inheriting the family, Manasa due to inadequacies and myself my own choosing-"
The clattering of a teacup interrupted Vasuki as his sister practically dropped it out of her hand, her gaze locking onto him. Vasuki's speech paused as he choose to return his sister's gesture, a silent battle brewing between the two siblings which eventually gave out when Manasa lowered her head back towards her tea. An unphased Vasuki faced forward once more, returning to his lecture.
"-My father's linage with continue on after his passing. This is the reason you have all been gathered here today, each one of you have been personally hand selected to be his possible successor. Of course, There can only be one."

Vernon became stone faced as his most pressing theory turned out to be accurate, the man immediately eyeing the table around him and swallowing hard. That meant everyone seated at this table was in competition with one another. The very thought caused Vernon to tug on his collar. Guess I wasn't in the wrong not bein' friendly with these people... It'll make it easier to get rid of 'em if I need to... To ensure I take that spot..
Eh... Lets not get ahead of ourselves...
Vernon turned back to the siblings, running his fingers through his hair. "So, how is this whole thing getting decided then? Is yer old man just gonna toss our names in a hat and whichever one he pulls out is the successor? I'm assuming its more complicated than that, yeah?" Vernon responded.

Of course, There can only be one." The news came as not a surprise or shock to the two from the Lukaczuk circle, it wasn't entirely expected however. Hearing the words Shirley let out a laugh and clapped her hands together on complete impulse. Whatever was to come surely would be something else. "Well," She turned to her boss, who held a look of amusement. "this should be interesting." The man nodded in response. "Interesting it shall be.." Robert muttered back as he looked around the room, sizing up their competition. It was too early to give any solid judgement on them from the small exposure they had, with no real example of their full capabilities. Nonetheless, from appearances alone, the thought of some of these people with such authority was almost laughable.

"-My father's linage with continue on after his passing. This is the reason you have all been gathered here today, each one of you have been personally hand selected to be his possible successor. Of course, There can only be one." A low chuckle erupted from Sibyl, completely unbidden. The Takshaka Jaratkaru was willing to entrust his empire to a man such as him? Sibyl felt flattered. Imagining himself in a place of such power gave him chills, but if he had to be honest, he wasn't cut out for being in the limelight. He loved subterfuge and destruction... things that were best done behind the scenes. He had no qualms about throwing aside platitudes for his own personal ambitions, and he did not hesitate when it came to using other people as a mere means to an end, blatantly contrasting with the Kantian 'formula of the end in itself'. In a way, he wouldn't be very different from many of the other mafia bosses outside of the City. Vernon turned back to the siblings, running his fingers through his hair. "So, how is this whole thing getting decided then? Is yer old man just gonna toss our names in a hat and whichever one he pulls out is the successor? I'm assuming its more complicated than that, yeah?" Vernon responded. Sibyl entwined his fingers and placed his chin on his hands. "Another excellent question." Sibyl cosigned. "How very bold of Takshaka. Revealing this information will only promote savagery and rivalry amongst our little enclave. What's to stop me from killing you all right now and claiming the inheritance for myself?"

So it IS coming to that already? No big surprise there.. Vernon sighed and reached into the back of his pants, revealing the pistol he'd been hiding and aiming it directly towards Sibyl. He let out a yawn and looked around at the rest of the group. "I'd say this is what's gonna keep you. I doubt I'M the only person here who's armed. So I'd say you getting gunned down by every other person here is probably whats gonna keep you in your place." He smirked before pulling his flask out with his free hand and taking another sip. "Whattya say? Wanna start the savagery early?" He raised an eyebrow.
