What's the aspect of your art that you're trying to improve the most right now? What kind of progress have you made? Share yours and post an example! My main area of focus lately is coloring, and here's a suggestive Cider I drew recently for practice: So far I've been observing color done by artists I like and dissecting their techniques. I'm also looking into tutorials and stuff for that same reason. My current goal is to experiment with more harsh contrast. This thread is mostly intended for illustrated art, but can include other art forms too. Let's see 'em!

I've been trying every now and then to improve with anatomy (as everyone should) but over the summer i think my main source of frustration has been with my coloring. It's far too simple and relied too heavily on many of the techniques I learned when I was first starting out with digital art. Everything just seemed so... flat, so I've been focusing on adding dimension to things like skin and hair, and also experimenting with coloring different textures as well. I also take pleasure in dissecting other people's art styles and seeing what I can bring to the table. Pretty sure it shows. ^^ Eerily enough, I also have a prepared picture of Cider as my example.

To be honest, I'm not digging my art style right now. My main areas I want to improve on are around composition, anatomy, expression, and coloring. This full body I did recently seems ok tho, I just redrew a thing from 2012 (It ain't Cider tho, I'll have to update it with a cider)

Not too sure if this counts but I would like to improve on having more than one artsyle. TBH, I style like my artsyle, especially how much I made it look better than it was but one thing I'm also having fun with, is having multiple artsyles! I only got four so far, and some of them may have similar traits to one another but as long as they seem different enough to me, it should be fine. And the main reason why I am doing more than one artstyle is because I know I probably needed some varity. Here are some examples with my OC, Happei.

Ny'all... It took me like a month to sit down and draw this whole thing. Just because they're dudes (and because I hated their initial designs). Had they been girls, I probably would have finished this in a week or two. I need to get better at drawing dudes. That being said, I feel like I need to improve on more dynamic poses and better anatomy. In this drawing, I tried to incorporate some? Form of composition? Like to guide a person's eyes through the work and make it pop. I think the fire looks alright, but a tablet would probably fare better for the correct blending and more control.

I haven't really been trying to improve on anything in specific when it comes to art as of late. Making my drawings look good was never really my top priority, which is why I don't want to be a professional artist. I've always been more interested in designing the characters and figuring out what character appearances appeal to people, but in order to show character designs I have to draw them lol. I also like to sometimes convey dramatic or funny scenes through artwork, but I'm never interested in drawing a picture just for the anatomy, or shading, or line-work or anything like that.
However if I were to get the inspiration to improve the look of my art I'd probably start with the hair. The hair I draw looks like boring blobs of nothing. The line-work I do could also benefit a lot from pen pressure if I learned how to use it.
