I was wondering if you've ever become emotional from watching old fanime. I often cry when watching something like Elemental Goddess (actually I cry EVERY time, at least watching the religious episode) or even something like Care Bear Stars or Superu Ground. I just have a lot of nostalgia for the times these shows were being made, and I cry without meaning to. Do any of you experience the same thing?

Nah, I'm not really emotional with fanime. I'm not emotional with other videos, movies, books or TV either. (Okay, admittedly some movies and make my eyes water).
I do sometimes get emotional with nostalgic things, but those are more of activities I participated in. The good old days of sports, band, school, etc. I'm still in school and do all of the same activities, but it's just not the same. It's not the "Golden Age" I once knew... it's like a dark time I wish would get better.
But getting back on topic, I'm not sure why I'm not really emotional with fanime. I don't mean to be rude, but it's probably because the stories just aren't at the professional level and quality that other media is at or it doesn't do anything to me at a personal level like my own story does (My own story is FAR from professional, but because it's my creation, I'm much more emotionally involved...)

I think 'nostalgic' is definitely the word for me, even though I wasn't actually around back when most of those things were new. I'm not very emotional in general, though.

I completely understand that you don't get emotional because the stories aren't very professional, but I suppose I'll defend my emotions with this; I get emotional over mush less, as well. something like an actual care bears movie or even old, old things that aren't told very well such as an old cartoon show. I say this yet I maintain that I do not really cry during movies- much- it just seems to be nostalgia tears for me. I remember the "golden age", as you've said, and I cry. (Wish I didn't, haha.)

I'm similar to Pilot that I don't necessarily get emotional too easily over stories in general. But I totally feel that nostalgia when I watch older fanime and wish that their creators were still active. When Melodyfan came back and announced she was going to do Eternal again I was SO excited, I don't know just something about seeing people still animating and making work makes me very happy C:

I agree with Evan. Then again I've been with the fanime community since 2007 so I have a bit more nostalgia than he does. I even admit to going back to the old fanime boards and reading some old threads there. God it feels so great to have a forum again.

In response to everyone... I guess I'm just a big baby for this stuff!! fanime was really my only outlet when I was younger and I could escape to creating stories and watching others' stories when I was sad, so maybe it's just my brain remembering old tears.

Well, I guess I do consider old fanimes to be nostalgic, but it wasn't one of those things that was important in my life that it makes me personally emotional, even though I made plenty of wonderful connections, some of which I still have to this day.
I miss the old Fanime World website. I always wanted my fanime to be accepted. They never took mine in. It made me angry.

I'm a stickler for drama and sob stories, but so far most of the fanime I've seen hasn't hit me in that way, mostly because they aren't far along enough or haven't developed everyone enough for me to have too strong of an attachment. That being said, that's probably why I tend to focus on my characterization very strongly.I would love if people could get emotional with me about what I create~.

I don't really feel that emotional about fanime to be honest. I feel more nostalgic than anything. Unfortunately none of the series I watched got far enough for me to have any sort of emotional attachment in terms of that. That or the story structure was so broken and incomplete (I'm referring to older "fanimes") that I couldn't relate or find anything to be emotional about lol... I do look forward to those who catch me!
Oh pilot~! They never added yours to the Fanime World website?? D: That really sucks... I got angry when only the popular fanimators were cared about on the forums. It was like a popularity contest... I want to completely avoid that stupid bullcrap here.

Today fanime quiet entertaining right now and it remind me that would be a real official anime show, since I got back into the fanime community. Well idk.. Element Goddness by my friend Diamnt88 people kept saying it very nostalgic and soft off cult following of otaku/ anime fan history in the internet culture saying "FAN ANIME" / fanime, excuse me about my bad English.. If you know what I mean/ or saying.
I think there old fanime movies that are converted online of youtube or other website if it still there, I think some of you would remember of the fanime you too watch like 2007-2009, I only saw Element Goddness some few part of it that was only it was the fanime I only saw and how I got into it like 8 years or 7 years ever since.

When it comes to fanime, I wasn't really around back when old fanimes first made an appearance. In a few years time however I can look back at this and say differently. I can get nostalgic over old things quite a lot. If I do get emotional and that, I tend to have a bad habbit of holding it in. (someone needs to punch me for that)

I can get emotional from watching the older fanimes and when I see a really good fanime and think to myself that it will end someday. Any kind of ending can make me emotional. I have never cried over fanime though.
