I use Paint Tool SAI and Movie Studio HD, which is basically a watered down version of Sony Vegas. But it has everything that I need that was on Sony Vegas... minus the 3-D tracking. Sometimes I may throw in some Adobe Photoshop CS2 if I want to achieve something I can't in SAI. I tried using MS Paint when I first started, but I couldn't get used to it. I have a lot of respect for people who put up with Paint. If I was interested in pursuing animation as a career, I would probably invest some money in a better animating program, but I'm happy with what I have now. For drawing in general, I still use Paint Tool SAI. I do a lot of traditional work too in tons of different mediums. Same here!! Eeeeexcept I lost my activation code for Movie Studio HD when I got my new computer and when I tried to download it again I could only get the crappy Movie Studio 13 which is basically a glorified version of Windows Movie Maker. So now I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS2, thanks to Tumblr. Since I've used Premiere Elements in the past, I'm working pretty well with it. I wish I could get my hands on After Effects but I don't think there's a free serial number for it (ok I admitted it) plus it looks way too hard for me to use. Ah ha ha.

Oh my gosh, that sucks so bad. I think I have Adobe Premiere Pro CS2 on my computer. I downloaded the CS2 suite from the Adobe website. I don't know if I ever got around to installing it though... I feel like I did, but when I search for it, it doesn't come up. I was thinking After Effects was included in the Suite download, but the file was enormous. And it was a pretty old version as well.

I use Sony Vegas Pro 12 Edit for editing(its a cheaper version of Pro that is exactly the same, there's some difference between them but I haven't found any features missing as of yet). I use Paint Tool SAI for all my art---I've tried a variety but I'm too dependent on this program >.> I spent quite a bit on my editing software, but I wish I could get After Effects. I love that program to pieces but can only use it at my highschool. I tried the trial of Flash---but got too confused and I don't want to spend a bunch of money again ^^;; After Effects looks really interesting, was it difficult for you to learn?? I saw Mike Inel using it to put his animation for April Fools together and it just did things that SV couldn't do at all. To my understanding it was only for post production but it looks like it can be used to put everything together too O.O Well, I suppose it just depends on the person. I've used such a different variety of programs and have been using them since such an early age that for most part I pick up on things pretty fast. I learned how to use after effects in less then two hours, with the help of google of course. I think the problem is some people just hate to look up help when they can't figure things out. I can use it pretty independently now, although the only product I have that used it is this:

Because my animation is kinda limited (and my computer being outright crap.), I make my fanimes in a style of a visual novel. For to make the art, I used programs like FireAlpeca (I know, it sounds like a hipster art program. XD), just I can create the characters and backgrounds.
Video programs, I just flat out use Windows Movie Maker. Mainly due to how almost every fancy video program is expensive and the one the is fancy and free crashes on me. :/
And those are the programs I used. ^^

Generally I use Photoshop and windows movie maker, but since my mom is a teacher I get free access to things like after effects and illustrator, which I want to get better at with.

I'm currently using ToonBoom Studio 8.1, which is incredible if a bit of a butt at times. I do all my backgrounds and some special effects in sai, and I do use rotoscoping. (I highly recommend it, especially for hands.) I do my audio in audacity and the editing in WMM.

I'm using Photoshop CS6 to animate and background making, and then (god save me) use Movie Maker to pull it all together. Though I make all my special effects in Photoshop, I've just started using/practising in After Effects (CS6) now. When it comes to plain drawing, I have it out on MS Paint. . .yup. . . .Paint.

i prefer using Flash CS6 but i herd of a good program for a sketchy type of animation. But at the same time i hear Adobe is being replaced by something called Toon boom that's insainly expensive but adobe's monthly payment for CC is much more expensive because it adds up

I use Photoshop and Flash for animation, and I edit in Premiere Pro. Sometimes I use SAI but it's not the full version so I can't export anything ><. I used to use Toon Boom Studio when I first began though, but I personally didn't like some aspects and qualities of it. At the time when I was younger I loved it!
