((I got approval for this scene before writing it. These characters won't be returning.)) The issue with the unicorn child seemed to have died down, and Freyja had returned. Uldrix had backed away in a corner of the mess hall, away from the unfolding events since he knew he was helpless when it came to...well...helping in general. He watched the bodies of civilians leave the room in a hurry. He doubted they were doing so for the same reasons as him. Quietly, he exited the mess hall. The forms of unknown individuals turned towards him as he walked past, whispers of confused and fearful hues leaving their mouths. He’d received similar reactions during the time it took to travel from his territory to the meeting place, but it didn’t weigh on him then as heavily as it did now. He wondered what it was about him that seemed so frightening. He was smaller or about the same size as most of those he had come across. His physical traits must be incredibly different to warrant such distaste. It had been awhile since he’d used echolocation in the hotel, and he ran smack into a door that had been left ajar. He rubbed his beak in frustration and screeched to get a better idea of his surroundings. The group that had been staring trampled off without another word. Odd. He just wanted to know where he was going. There was only one form that did not scamper away at his shriek, and he blinked in surprise upon resting his eyes on it. It was an avenaudi, and a female at that.Uldrix couldn’t believe it at first. There was another one of his kind, out in the open, out of their territory no less. And they seemed to blend easily into society. There were no turned heads in their direction from passing guests and she seemed to be completely comfortable in their current setting. He approached her cautiously, watching her multiple hearts while being careful not to quicken their pace. A few feet away, she turned towards him and a light yellow purr came from her beak. He was unable to see the mark on her forehead that was seared into the plate, or the numerous scars that decorated her flesh like a sick pattern. “Hello,” she chirped, that light hue still bright. “I am Lavinix. Are you also traveling for business?” This seemed to be an automated response, despite the warmth in her voice. There was something...strange about her speech. The edges of the hue were grey, a color that signified numbness. It didn’t fit with the friendly yellow. “I-I am Uldrix.” He stuttered, embarrassed he wasn’t as prepared to see another avenaudi out of the blue. “Yes. I suppose you could say I am traveling for business.” He answered, although the question confused him. Out of all the things to ask, why that? Surely she was surprised to see him here as well. “You seem startled.” Lavinix replied with a slight chuckle. “Have you lost your Controller? I may request service from my own to locate yours, if you wish.” “My...Controller?” Uldrix was very confused now. “I don’t understand. Why are you outside of your territory? And...why are you being kind?” He had only received negative emotions from previous interactions with avenaudi. Had he been wrong about them? Had they integrated into the world more than he realized? Lavinix cocked her head at him, approaching slowly before rapidly reaching out and touching his head plate. She backed away once she realized the surface was smoothed and unscathed by the acid that had burned her own plate. “You have not been marked.” Her voice quivered with fear. “What are you doing here? How did they allow this?” She took a step away from him before letting out a shriek. “Simon!” A short, stubby man seemed to materialize almost out of nowhere, and Uldrix immediately crouched into a defensive stance when he recognized the vitals as human. “Lavinix, pipe down, you’re going to get us thrown--!” His form stiffened when he looked towards Uldrix. Although the creature couldn’t see it, there was terror in his eyes as they rested on his unmarked forehead. “How did a wild one get here?! This is an outrage! I paid good money for this inn!” Dark red billowed in front of his mouth as he spoke, his fear turning to rage. “Lavinix, get rid of it.” “But he is one of my own.” She quivered a bit, the emotions coming out of her beak full of dizzying and conflicting hues. “Simon, I do not wish to hurt this one.” Simon tapped his foot impatiently. “You are making me upset right now, Lavinix.” “No,” she whispered, seeming to be in physical pain from this statement. “Do not be upset with me. I will do whatever you require. Always.” There was a strange frequency in her voice Uldrix had only picked up on when dealing with groups of avenaudi, and it horrified him once he realized what it was. She had imprinted on this swine. “You’ve imprinted on a human?” Uldrix spat, disgusted. He didn’t even know it was possible to imprint on another species. “Of course she has! How else are you monsters supposed to be useful?” Simon spat back, blackness in his tone. Uldrix was on all fours, growling deep in the back of his throat. “What the hell’s the matter with you? You’re a wild one, right? You’ve come here to try and get the eggs my company stored. Well, too late. We shipped them out this morning. They’ll be isolated soon enough and no one will be able to get to them until they’re ready to imprint.” “You...you stole...the eggs?” Uldrix whispered, horrified. “But they are still innocent…” Simon was getting even more frustrated. “You didn’t come for them? Then why the hell are you here! Get back to your damn territory.” Uldrix shrieked at the man, lunging forward to attack, but Lavinix stepped in his way, taking the blow full force. Blue blood slid from the large gash he had dealt across her arm and Uldrix backed away, in shock she would do something for a being that admitted to stealing the eggs of their people. “Y-You cannot hurt him,” she said through the pain. Her voice was an intense light blue, but the grey still clung to it like a poison along with a splash of dark brown. Something held her back from fully believing what she was saying, and yet she acted without a thought, as though she couldn’t help but to guard the man. Was this what imprinting was like for them? Was their will so far bent that they couldn’t act out against those they were attached to? “I’ve got it!” Simon said with a laugh, snapping his fingers. He didn’t seem at all concerned his slave had been injured. “You’re one of those rare ones we come across every now and again. One of the weak ones that manage to live after the mothers eat the bad eggs. How’d you get all the way out here? And how old are you anyways? I’m surprised you haven’t been picked off yet.” He laughed. “Well, it’s no concern of mine. Someone will kill you off eventually. Doesn’t have to be me.” He gestured towards Lavinix absentmindedly. “She’s seen too many battles to be of much use. More like a meat shield at this point, with how screwed up her body is. I doubt she could take you. We’ll just be on our way then.” He took a step forward, but as he did so a bolt of orange saliva flicked across his cheek. “You’re lying,” Uldrix spat at the man. Simon wiped the spit off absentmindedly, clearly not amused by Uldrix anymore. “I’m not. But as I said, we’re leaving now.” He continued to move and Uldrix took another swipe. Again Lavinix jumped in front of her owner, letting out a small shriek as Uldrix’s talons scraped her thigh. “You cannot.” She hissed out again, with that same blinding blue tone. Uldrix backed away, a whimper coming from his throat as the two continued to move farther away from him. He made no attempt to attack the man again. It was clear that he wouldn’t be able to land a blow on him. He slowly lowered himself to a sitting position and stared in the direction of their vitals, watching them leave the inn and keeping track of them until they were a flicker in the distance. Uldrix understood this now to be an immense understatement. “This...is wrong.” He whispered. Despite being in a building full of beating hearts, he felt completely isolated from the rest of them. He lowered his beak to his chest, a tremor of anger running through his body. He was right not to trust humans. They were vile creatures indeed. Uldrix returned to the mess hall in a terrible mood, seeking shelter in the corner and not speaking to anyone.

Between the two newcomers and all the chaos, Sparrow found himself easily overwhelmed and overstimulated. The Glimmer got up from the table and wandered into the inn's parlor room. On his way he passed Udrix and caught a glimpse of a man an another of Uldrix's kind hurrying away. Sparrow paused, turning his head to the side at the strange site. How the man seemed to hold control over the injured avenaudi concerned him. The Glimmer naturally wanted to reach out towards and help the avenaudi.
"Wait!" Sparrow called out, chasing behind the man and his guard. He exited the inn, scampering through the town's darkened streets in search of them. He had done so for several minutes, until an hour had passed.
It was of no use.
He had not only lost the people he was fallowing, but had gotten himself lost in the process. The glimmer looked down to his feet on cobble stone pathway he stood on, know that if he did not rejoin the party soon he would be left behind. Sparrow clamped his eyes shut, trying his best to redraw the path he had taken the best he could before letting them flutter open again. With his head hung low, the glimmer began wandering through the city once more.

Freyja had returned and also pandemonium. She gave the news so quickly to the child that even she was surprised to see and was back to alcohol. She was repulsed by the action, though took a guess as to whatever occured during her time out was the reason. She wasn't inclined to rejoin the table, having asked for a seat alone by her own accord. Spica then saw Uldrix re enter; he too was.. different. Just exactly what was going on?
Spica tutted at the debacle, and then wished to continue sulking. Yet even she knew that doing such thing would have to wait.
She stormed up back to the table and started.
'What happened? Are you saying this kid's parents are dead? You said you'd bring them here, and it would be happy families! So now what? We turn this party into a walking orphanage? Or better yet, why don't you explain word for word, your master plan?'
She eyed Gear, perhaps he expected this to happen. Maybe he didn't. She, herself related herself to him in that way. Despite her annoyances, he was a child.
She pulled Gear by the wrist and flung him in Limarah's direction, 'Reindeer lady, whatever your name is.. hold onto that kid for the time being. You're our best bet, somehow.' She spoke to Freyja again, 'Do something about this.'

"THE KIDS PARENTS WERE KILLED! THERE'S NOT A HEALER ON EARTH THAT CAN FIX THAT!!" Freyja stood up from the table, face red with pure rage. "MY MASTER PLAN IS TO FIND THE TOWER AND BE DONE WITH THIS SHIT, AND I DON'T NEED YOUR PUNY ASS GETTING IN MY FACE!! THERE'S NOTHING TO DO!! EVERYONE WILL DIE IF THEY GO INTO THE OUTSKIRTS!! EVERYONE!" Freyja wanted to hit Spica with all her might, but instead, slammed her fist on the table, flipping it over and sending food flying everywhere. The small dwarven man from before peaked his head out through the doorway, and upon seeing Freyja's outburst, slipped back into the room. Freyja's arms were erupting steam from all holes. " AND YOU!!" Freyja grabbed Spica by her shirt and lifted her off the ground. "YOU WANT TO GET IN MY FUCKING FACE WHEN I COULDN'T STOP WHAT WAS INEVITABLE!? THERE'S CLEARLY A REASON PEOPLE ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO GO OUT THERE, AND THAT'S WHY!! PEOPLE DIE IN THE OUTSKIRTS, AND GEAR'S PARENTS WERE NO DIFFERENT! AND YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO GET IN MY FACE OVER IT!? OVER SOMETHING THAT THERE WAS NO WAY IN HELL I COULD CHANGE!? HOW ABOUT THE NEXT TIME SOMEBODY'S LIFE IS ON THE LINE, YOU RUN IN AND SAVE THEM!!! HOW ABOUT YOU PLAY THE DAMN HERO!! BECAUSE I TRIED PLAYING THIS DAMN HERO TOO MANY TIMES AND I'VE LOST TOO MANY PEOPLE OVER IT, AND I DON'T NEED YOU HOLDING ME ACCOUNTABLE FOR SOMETHING I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH!!! IT WASN'T MY FAULT!!!" This phrase suddenly hit the bounty hunter like a train, as her long tirade came to an abrupt halt. Freyja dropped Spica to the floor and walked past her towards one of the empty rooms. In a tone quieter, but somehow more unsettling, Freyja spoke once more. "You will all die out there. And I will not be held accountable. I leave in the morning. If you think this gold is worth your lives, you're free to come with me." and with that, she slammed the door behind her.

If she didn't need the lodestone that was offered so badly, she would have up and left a while ago. Remembering the lodestone that she was aiming for, she glanced down at her gauntlet. just a little bit more of this nonsense...
She decided not to stick around for this and headed outside to relax a bit. Kyanalurin came around the back of the building, hopefully out of sight of her allies, and let out a sigh. just a little bit more of this, and I'll live....

As Murm turned his back to the situation he heard the larger woman begin shouting in anger. He let his smile drop into a scowl, a rather displeased look crossed his face as he walked quicker out of the room. 'And too a child no less... How indecent.' He let out a huff as he made a beeline for the door, the patrons around making way. Once out upon the night city he took in the air. It had not been uncommon for him to wander at night, it became almost a friend to him. The building discomfort he had felt soon diffused into the darkness and the man began to wander the night once more. In his decades of travel he had passed through all of the major cities and town and was able to recall them quite well, well enough to trust he could get back when needed. During his walk he noticed a small being emitting light, a being he had seen before. Approaching them Murm called out. "And what are you doing out here, young Sparrow? It's rather late, to be out and about." Once he had reached the small glimmer, the healer kneeled before him. A warm smile crossed the man's face as he held a hand out towards Sparrow. "Would like like some help getting back?"

Monaiya sat there in shock as Freyja yelled at Spica. This has gotten her into a reality wake up call.
"Wow... the outskirts seem more dangerous than I thought..."
Oh...dang
With that, Monaiya looks down.
"I only want the gold because I wanted to give money to both my parents because they need to leave their horrible life partners that have a finacial grip on my parents...if my life ends then that all will say that I at least died trying"
She looks as Gear with a sympathetic
"Hey, Gear. I'm sorry that this happen.."

The drain of energy Rey had obtained from using up all her mana at the sparring match with Alanis demonstrated its toll on the young girl's body. Her feet dragged along the ground as the group was dragged to the inn as quick as possible. The feast, while expansive, didn't really catch her eye all that much. She already knew looking for this tower-thing already had its perks, so in a way she kinda expected it. What she really wanted to find was a bed. She was dead tired, but before she could even try to look for a room, Freyja had asked- no, ordered- the team to sit down, eat, and introduce themselves, even. That wasn't really Rey's thing. Looking around the table, she could find absolutely no one she found all that great. Everyone was either a bitch or a freak, or both, and she didn't feel she should waste her breath on any of them. It's not like after this quest was over, she'd have them over once she finally got a place of her own. No, fuck that. That's stupid. Instead, Rey opted to make use of her time there in another way. The spread was fantastic, and seeing the others already tearing through it, she knew that'd there'd be nothing left in a matter of moments if she fell asleep. Removing the pack off her back, Rey reached for a few morsels and shoved them inside her bag. Once it was nice and full, she sat in an empty chair and dozed off silently, picking up only a few words per each introduction. She was never really one to dream, so the few minutes she had to herself she spent in dark silence.
For like, a few minutes time.
Rey's eyes flew open to see Freyja ram her fist into the table and send the rest of the feast to the nearest wall. She had no idea why the bitch was screaming, and she really didn't care. She interrupted her nap. Rey would've complained, but the struggle to remain awake had been going on for far too long, and the fatigue was already winning. In the last few seconds, her eyes caught a glimpse of the little witch from earlier being lifted off the ground. At this, she chuckled. "Heh," she muttered under her breath "prolly desurved it." And with that, she fell asleep. The sound of the door slamming shut didn't even faze her.

"So you are a relative!" They bounced back up in their seat immediately, eyeing the feathered woman through their lenses with new profound excitement. "I'm sorry to hear about his accident but-" their hands clasped together, "-I'm a fan of his! I-" the thought struck them, as they realized they had lost their composure for a moment, before sulking back down in their seat a little flustered by their own response. "I, uh, enjoy his work..." they nodded as they trailed off, before coughing to clear their throat. "Uh, I'm Robin- by the way. I use an electricity lodestone to fire charges through my guns," they lifted one out of the holster, a tad nervous, before settling it back into its slot. "I want the gold as well, but-" their eyes returned to Rory, "I... hope your father gets better." Robin sat still in their seat, fidgeting with their hands once more. R ory's eyes nearly popped off her face as the masked one, who she now knew was named Robin voiced their enthusiasm, and a small crow fell from her mouth. Flapping her wings she sailed over the table next to them, some wispy feathers now fluttering through the air. Smiling brightly she wriggled around a little bit, feathers fluffed before jumping up and down. "I'm so happy you're a fan of my father's!!! He'd--" She paused a little bit, swallowing and smiling, "He'd be so happy to hear you like his work!! T-Thank you though, I hope he does too..." She smiled and wrapped one of her wings around Robin, patting their shoulder before settling down next to them at the table. She went back to quietly listening and observing her teammates as they introduced themselves, widening her eyes as Spica's introduction quickly went sour. Freyja lifted a pie from the table and glared at the girl. "You don't decide who here is better fitted for battle." She then threw the pie against the wall. "I do." She sat down once more, jamming her knife into her food. "You are the weakest members of this group, you little twat." Rory covered her mouth in shock with her wings, yelping as the pie splattered against the wall, her eyebrows furrowing as she looked to Spica sadly, sighing and glancing as the other members continued their introductions. She was so hoping to be able to get the small witch to warm up a bit more but... one moment of eye contact with the other girl communicated her disappointment. She continued to learn more about her other teammates, including her new dragon friend, who was an alarming 3 millenia old, and about Pumi, who came from a farming village. She was about to ask more about his village as she noticed him staring in her direction when a small child came stumbling into the inn. The events that unfolded and the new faces that came swarming in were overwhelming for the harpy, her breath catching in her throat as the young boy named Gear recounted what had happened with his parents out in the Outskirts. The chaos that ensued from there was... "WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT ME TO DO!?" Freyja shouted so loudly it shook the inn they were in. Disheartening to say the least...
Rory stood up from her spot and went over to Spica who'd be dropped on the floor by Freyja, trying to help her up as she watched their leader storm violently out of the room. Her wings were trembling a little bit and a heavy feeling of helplessness began weighing down on her back. What had Freyja seen that had her so spooked? Certainly the harpy had heard tales about the dangers of the Outskirts. After all, there was a reason those cities were abandoned. But for such a strong warrior to say those things... what had she seen?
The harpy wasn't sure what to do, and she could feel tears beading up in her eyes. She was afraid of dying. The thought of her mother being left all alone with those savages. And papa... She sniffled a little bit and took a deep breath, trying to gather her thoughts. For now, she looked down at Spica, a wing resting lightly on her back. This was all she knew for sure she could do. Whether she disagreed with the way Spica had spoken to Freyja didn't matter. Manhandling a young member and decreasing team morale before they were about to go out on their search didn't seem... right, and she wanted no part in that. "Hey, are you alright?" she asked gently, her voice wavering slightly.

Uldrix had already been in a sour mood, but having their leader start screaming at a rather unpleasant volume did nothing good. He’d still caught Freyja’s explanation earlier about the dead parents, and it was clear Spica was the one mostly in the wrong here, but Uldrix just could not handle all of these strange and overwhelming events happening at once. The room was filled with the waves from Freyja’s screaming, and when the table was overturned he began hissing and spitting, backing farther into his corner as instincts took hold. K i l l I t! K i l l I t! K i l l I t!
Freyja exited the room only moments before Uldrix rammed his head into the nearest wall, shrieking loudly as the pain shook him. He breathed heavily as he leaned against the wall, blue blood leaking from his headplate as he tried to quiet his heart rate. He refused to look at anyone in the room. He should never have left home. There wasn’t a single species on the whole planet worthy of being saved. They were all disgusting wretches… ...even him. Uldrix slid downward against the wall and curled up into a ball. Perhaps he would take Freyja's advice and leave in the morning. Surely there were other ways to obtain wealth...if he even wanted to anymore. His eyes stared blankly into the room, not focusing on any particular sound. Numbing himself was the best he could do to remain calm at this point. This group was a chaotic mess.

Sparrow quickly took Murm's hand, huddling towards the man with his head hung low. A whimper escaped from the Glimmers mouth as he scuttled closer, glad to not be on his own anymore. " I couldn't help her..." The Glimmer let out, his voice muffled. Sparrow looked up to face Murm, loose crystalline sand trickling from his widened eyes. He almost appeared to be crying, if his kind could cry. The man was surprised to see Sparrow in such a state. Even he who had not been present for Freyja's tantrum, perhaps this was simply a bad night foreshadowing what was to come. Lifting his other hand Murm placed it gently on Sparrow's head, his voice was low mixing almost seamlessly with the cool night air. "I'm fairly uncertain who you are talking about, young Sparrow, but sometimes there are people you just simply cannot help. It is always best to look past that. Even if you can't help someone there is most assuredly someone else who can." The man patted Sparrow's head lightly before standing back up. Turning back where he came from he kept a grip on the glimmer's hand and took a small step forward. "Well then," There was a gentle smile on his face as he turned his head to look down. "let's get back now, I am certain you can't do anything to help anyone still out at this time of night. Let's go do some good, hm?" With that he took yet another step forward.

The dwarven man crept out of the room he had been in earlier once all the commotion settled down. The dwarf peered around the room, witnessing the overturned table, food spread everywhere and the group in shambles. To which, the man let out a hardy laugh. " WELL WELL! Looks like li'l ol' Freyja went an' 'ad one of 'er temper tantrums, ay? OHOHOHO! Don't ye all worry 'bout it! She just needs to blow off some steam! She'll be fine! Let your old man Caldis 'andle the big bad bounty 'unter!" He chuckled as he made his way over to Freyja's room. He opened the door and walked inside. "What do you want?" She muttered angrily. She'd just been in the middle of changing when the man walked in, unannounced as usual. " WELL! That's no way to talk to yer uncle!" He chuckled before turning very serious. " What the 'ell was that out there? I 'aven't seen ye act like this since-" it suddenly clicked in Caldis' head why Freyja was acting out like this. He moved over to the bed, where Freyja sat herself, and put his hand on her shoulder. " What 'appened with Tyr wasn't yer fault! I keep teelin' ye that, but ye never listen!!" Freyja remained silent as she listened to the dwarf talk some more. " Those kids will be dead if they enter the outskirts, ye, but with a leader like you, they'd at least stand a fighting chance!!" They don't need some scared, obnoxious, little girl shouting at them when they do somethin' wrong! They need someone who can teach 'em how to act right! Do you understand me?" He spoke sternly before getting up from the bed, Freyja still electing to stay quiet. Caldis shut the door behind him, looking over the mess once more. " Geez, that li'l girl is a big baby!" He bellowed, motioning towards Freyja's room. " Give 'er a few minutes to quit 'er pouting! She'll be out 'ere in no time!" With that, Caldis clapped, and a large Umbranite appeared from the back room. " Alfie! Clean this up!" And without questioning it, the Umbranite got to work, cleaning the room in no time flat before slinking back into the back room, Caldis following him. The dwarf paused for a moment, before turning to the group again. " Uh....go easy on me niece. She's never been able to 'andle death. Not after 'er brother Tyr....passed...li'l girl still blames 'erself! Heheh... 'e was the last REAL family she 'ad...." The dwarfs face was sympathetic as he looked over the group and back to the door. " Poor girl...Even after 25 years, I still see that li'l kid, wantin' to grow up and be a big, strong warrior......but she's still got a long ways to go..." And with that, Caldis closed the door behind him. Not even five minutes later, Freyja entered the room once more, fully clothed and arms reattached. She sat down in a chair, grabbed a mug of ale and looked at the group. "Sorry." was all she said before downing the glass again.

The glimmer thought hard on Murm's words. for some reason, perhaps he was too young to know why, they left him both relieved and sad at the same time. The emotion was very hard for him to understand, as he had always put them into box of 'good' and 'bad' with ease. This one was different, it swung between the two categories like a pendulum. The emotion's swinging itself was cause of worry for Sparrow. Sparrow held onto Murm's hand the entire way back to the inn, making extra sure to keep the man by his side. He did not want to get lost a second time. Once inn was in sight the glimmer scampered forward running ahead up to it'd door and then turning back around to face the man who rescued him. "We found it!" Sparrow reentered the inn, quickly rejoining the group only to find it left in an uneased state. The glimmer's eyes darted around the mess hall confused. While he couldn't comprehend much of the situation, on thing was clear, his friends needed help. Sparrow first approached Uldrix, who was all alone by himself. "Udrix... is hurt!" Sparrow gasped, looking around at his team with worry. He sat down beside the avenaudi, being intentionally noisy when doing so.The glimmer rummaged through his bag, first pulling out a fistful of birdseed and then shoving it back in. That wasn't useful now. He then pulled out the healing salve tin that was packed in there for him. The object was completely foreign to the glimmer, but he vaguely knew that it could help in this situation. "I have a thing that can make you hurt less. Do you want me to use it?"

That wasn't useful now. He then pulled out the healing salve tin that was packed in there for him. The object was completely foreign to the glimmer, but he vaguely knew that it could help in this situation. "I have a thing that can make you hurt less. Do you want me to use it?" Uldrix was dragged out of his brewing by the small rock child he had encountered back at the field. He recognized it by the pure white that spilled forth from its vessel, although now there were tinges of dark yellow from the fear in his voice. Despite Uldrix's resolve that those present were not worth his time, he couldn't help but feel a bit better as Sparrow showed concern for another. This one...is still an innocent. He thought to himself. His goal in all this was to protect that innocence. He could not bring himself to reject a creature with such good intentions. He leaned his head towards Sparrow, his tongue flicking out to clean off some of the dripping blood that had snaked down his face. "I have done this to myself. But if you wish to help...I see no reason to stop you." The blood was leaking from his head plate, where it seemed the scaly skin around it had been irritated and torn from the steel-hard plate. ((The plate is apart of his body, so I'd recommend not trying to remove it.))
