"No I'm not okay!" Alanis screeched. "A giant mongrel was just trying to kill me!" she waved her arms to accentuate the fact that she was stating the obvious. "What if I got burned back there?! Everyone would hate me!" she whined quite loudly. In her mind, beauty and prestige were her most important aspects. The worst kind of failure would be returning to her family only to have hideously scarred herself. How could they ever accept that? No doubt as a part of whatever lesson they wanted to teach her, she could not afford to ruin her appearance. "I would not hate you," The glimmer stated, cocking his head to the side, a bit confused. Being burnt only hurt yourself, not the people around you. If anything, they would be taking pity on you. The woman's words confused Sparrow but her distress elicited a sense of duty in him, in that it was his job to help her. "If you wish, I can try to protect you. I do not know how skilled I am, however." The projection was sudden... it was odd and unwelcome. Sparrow suddenly covered his eyes with his hands, trying to make the sound go away only to whimper when it did not. When the realization that Alanis was still there, and that his actions could upset her he removed his hands and put on a bold face... though it was clear it was forced. Half of him wanted to inspect the tree, yet he had been ordered to stay away. Sparrow looked down at his feet considering his next action, now only half paying attention to the woman before him.

"Do you want to be my friend?" He asked again. The hand he held out was covered in stars, similarly to the child's hair. "I see you brought your own friends..." He whispered, referring to Kyanalurin, Rory and the approaching Myrri. "Do they want to play too?" Rory tilted her head, biting her lip and jogging closer as she noticed them attempting to touch the avenaudi. "Hey ah, be careful kid! He doesn't really like being touched too much, I learned that the hard way," she grinned a little bit sheepishly, still perplexed as she watched the strange, starry child moving to pet the now growling Uldrix. "Um... You said your name was... Vaalzys?" She rolled the unfamiliar syllables across her tongue carefully as she tried out the pronunciation. "I'm Rory! What are you doing out here? Are you here to join our party?" she asked kindly. She'd never seen anyone like this kid before, but after all the monsters they'd seen in the area, she was less worried about the odd looking child and more about his safety in such a dangerous place.

The boy stared at the strange being before him, clearly confused. He'd never seen anything like it. He began to walk forward, holding his hand out as though to try and pet it. "Do you want to be my friend?" He asked again. The hand he held out was covered in stars, similarly to the child's hair. "I see you brought your own friends..." He whispered, referring to Kyanalurin, Rory and the approaching Myrri. "Do they want to play too?"
Had he noticed her? She cautiously stepped back a bit, confused as to why this child contacted them telepathically...it was like something out of those books she read when she was younger. "Freyja was right..." she muttered. Kyanalurin concidered slipping away before anyone noticed shew as there--if the child already had not.

Robin blinked, taken off-guard by the gesture. "You do? I, uh..." their hands sheepishly outstretched, before feebly taking the box into their own palms. "Thank you..." their voice trailed off, perplexed by the woman's selfless gesture. "I'm Robin, I don't think I caught your name?" they gazed back up at the figure expectantly. "May I ask why you joined the search party? I mean, uh, you don't have to answer." "Of course! You've helped us when times were dark. That's something worth cherishing..." She was glad that Robin accepted her offer, but then caught her off guard. "Oh! Where were my manners all this time? My name is Limarah. It's nice to meet you Robin! I'm glad we had this conversation." It looked like Robin was admiring the music box that was presented. It was nice to see this. Then Robin asked another question. "Why I joined the party. O-oh..." She wasn't sure if she wanted to answer this, because she wasn't so sure how the others would receive her answer. Robin was kind enough to give Limarah the option of not answering this question, but she felt Robin deserved to know. "Well... I was never interested in the gold, as you may have been able to guess, and a simple lodestone wouldn't do me much good for me either. I lived in Atlan City... It was a governed area that was heavy on escaping the Outskirts. The name wasn't even mentioned, so lodestones were a rarity. I've used these lodestones for... cooking! haha! Nobody would know how to mimic my special recipes. I didn't feel so deserving of my wealth, but there it was! For many years I would provide food for the citizens of Atlan, and the royal guards would train me how to use my lodestone. Of course my personal favorite was the light lodestone. Soon after, unfortunately, is where things went wrong. Atlan was filled with thieves who wanted my gold for themselves. After years of fending them off, any guards I would hire wouldn't want to try to defend me because there were too many thieves! I have lost too many possessions, and have decided to share my offerings elsewhere... and that's when I met this bunch." Limarah noticed that she was telling Robin nearly her whole life story, "Ah, I'm rambling again. My apologies! I'm only grateful to converse once more." Limarah then gave Robin her hand, "did you need help getting up?"

Uldix backed even farther away as the child moved closer to him, saliva dripping from his mouth as his nostrils flared. "What are you?" He managed to growl out, his body tensed as he tried to make sense of whatever this creature was in front of him. He took in a deep breath, trying to settle his nerves. Just because the child was a stranger, did not mean he was out to hurt him. He'd met many strange things in the last few days. Perhaps the boy was just another late member of the search party. For now, he decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. "P-Please do not touch me." He said in less aggressive voice, although it was still clear he was wary of him. The child cocked his head sideways. "What.....are you?" He repeated, both as an actual question and as a way of mimicking the creature. " I am an orphan." The boy lowered his hand away from Uldrix, frowning a bit in response. "I am Vaalzys." He smiled at the bird woman, but quickly became confused. "Part...ty? No, I don't...think so.. I'm waiting for a friend. But you will do...in the meantime." He grinned at Rory before noticing Kyanalurin trying to sneak away. His eye flashed a vibrant mint color. "You are my friend." He stated, as an enormous tree root, similar to that of The Tree of Zil'Carm erupted behind the girl, blocking her path. Eyes opened up within the root and stared Kyanalurin down, waiting for her to move towards Vaalzys. "Let's be...friends.." He smiled in the girls direction and beckoned her over.
Freyja had gone through houses nearby, grabbing as many clothes as she could to use as dust rags. While they weren't the cleanest articles of clothing, they'd have to do for the time being. She brought them into the inn and began to get to work, as it would take quite some time to finish the job. She couldn't help but wonder what the rest of the search party was doing, but so long as they didn't head to the tree, she didn't particularly care.

As Myrri approached, she caught a glimpse of Ukdrix snarling and decided to take a more cautious approach. She slipped into the shadow of the nearest building and crept foreward, finally reaching the edge. She stepped out of the building's shadow only to find herself face-to-face with a girl who seemed vaugley familiar... Kayana! Of course, the oddly happy one. Myrri stopped quickly to avoid a collision and hurriedly apologized, 'Oop, sorry, didn't see ya there. Kayana, right? If you'll excuse me, I need to find the voice' she said, moving out of Kayana's way. She froze suddenly when she saw a giant tree root come crashing in between the two of them.

Kyanalurin let out a yelp. This was a horrible idea. She noticed, before the root erupted though, the new person, Myrri, had bumped into her. Although, Myrri wasn't all that new anymore. She had been pushed back by the root. "Go to safety somewhere, I don't know, run!" she commanded to the other before her. She turned back to Vaalzys and shot her trademark grin. "Hiya bucko! My name's Kyanalurin! It's a real pleasure to meetcha. You said we're friends now?" she inquired, doing the best cheery green she could manage. (( hotpocketguru))

The boy lowered his hand away from Uldrix, frowning a bit in response. Warily, Uldrix answered back. It seemed only fair to swap information, although the boy was still being vague. "I am Uldrix, an avenaudi." He stated. He pondered something for a moment before continuing. "I do not know what an...orphan is." He said. He did not realize other creatures were raised by those who brought them into the world. He assumed all youth were left to fend for themselves as he had been. Uldrix let out a short hiss as the root burst from the ground. He shook his head angrily, unhappy with where the situation was going. "Stop that." He ordered the child. He felt it was unwise to attack, but currently found no reason to believe this child was a friend. That most recent action certainly wasn't friendly.

Rory's eyes widened in surprise as she watched the boy block in one of the other party members, biting her lip nervously, her blood running cold. Her breathing hitched a bit, but she tried to stay calm. He had been smiling before. There was no point in escalating the situation and being hostile towards him. The last thing she wanted was a fight. She kept her voice kind as she crouched down next to him a little bit. "An orphan? Losing a parent is very hard, I'm so sorry..." she replied quietly. She normally would have patted him with her wing but she felt very uneasy about touching him, so she merely stretched her wing out in his direction. "Um... who are you waiting for, Vaalzys?" She glanced at the other two teammates. Kyanalurin seemed to be trying to stay friendly as well, although Uldrix's hostility made her somewhat nervous.

(( hotpocketguru)) Myrri stared in shock at the scene that was unfolding around her. Someone she had no recollection of whatsoever that seemed to be made out of stars seemed to be in control of the vine blocking Kayana. Rory and Uldrix were trying to reason with it, actually, Uldix was just being hostile and Rory was the only one really helping the situation. Myrri waited for a moment, standing completely still. When she was pretty sure that the star-child's attention was focused on Rory she decided to follow Kayanalurin's advice. She turned and sprinted around the corner of the building and, a quietly as she could, opened the building's ancient door and walked in. The building looked like it was the remains of a house, but now it was dust-coated and empty. Myrri dashed up a flight of stairs to the top story. As she entered the attic area she saw that a large portion of the roof was missing. She crept up to the edge of the hole and peeked over the edge. From where she was she could see and hear everything that was happening below, but hopefully was hidden from the star-child. She pulled out her blaster an inserted the lodestone. No such thing as too careful. ((My phone's about to die and I have no idea where the charger is, so if I disappear randomly, that's why))

He quickly became flustered that he had already forgotten the girl's name, and his cheeks blushed into a deep purple. His embarrassment was short lived, however as Uldrix growled at him. The boys eye began glowing a mint green once more as the creature hissed at him. The hair on his head began to float upwards, as though there was no gravity around him. The hair covering the other side of his face seemed to be hiding something odd, but it quickly fell as Rory spoke to him again, shifting his focus once more. Vaalzys seemed confused by what Rory said. "Lost...parents..? I lost my mom..." He said, simply, not seeming particularly upset by this. He smiled as Rory showed interest in the person he was meeting. The boy uttered a phrase that would chill any sane man too the bone, regardless of whether they believed in the legends or not.
"OH! I'm waiting for my dad, Zil'Carm! He'll be here soon, but we can play in the meantime."
Freyja felt a chill go up her spine as she continued to clean. It was as if something....terrifying...had just entered the area. Freyja walked out the door and peered around, only to find nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing seemed out of place, but the woman couldn't shake this immediate feeling of dread that was shot through her. She decided to continue cleaning in an attempt to keep her mind off of this strange feeling of horror.

"I want to leave now." He said, the words so fast it was hard to understand him. "I want to leave. Please, let me leave." It wasn't like him to be this polite (at least what he felt was polite), but watching how the boy had reacted when the last party member had tried to escape made it clear that this was not a normal situation. He had to do his best to fight against his instincts.

She expected respect because of her name and status, yet recent events had made it a lot less common to her. Especially from someone who didn't seem to recognize her heritage. While she absolutely wanted protection and believed that she was entitled to it, something about this gem person threw her off. "I-I mean, uh, it's not that I don't want your help." she stammered, remembering who she was. "Hey, are you listening to me?" she jabbed, noticing Sparrow's lack of focus.

Rory squeaked and widened her eyes as his hair started to float upwards once Uldrix growled, biting her lip and sighing in relief as the boy stopped to answer her question. But his answer was not what she was expecting. "Z-Zil...'Carm...?" she replied, her confusion evident on her face. The name of the town and the god? She tried to smile a little bit, pushing back the shaking in her voice and nodding slowly. Just stay calm... it'll be okay... Uldrix was reaching his snapping point it seemed, and the harpy stood there praying that he wouldn't set off the child. Quickly, she tried to keep the peace, asking another question. It worked before... hopefully it would work again. "Zil'Carm, hm? What's your dad like?" she asked calmly and tilted her head, unsure she wanted to experience the kind of 'games' the alleged child of a god would want to play. Despite his possible heritage, she couldn't help but wonder how long it had been since he'd even spoken to others. Was he lonely? Did gods even get lonely? She would keep her current demeanor for as long as she could. Nothing would come out of hostility.

Vaalzys began to become incredibly disappointed but wasn't planning on stopping him. "Fine...I'll play with my other friends instead....you big meanie..." He pouted. He turned to Rory and smiled "uh....I don't know..." He started "I haven't seen him in a long time...but I don't care. Lets play games!!" He seemed to bounce up and down at this thought. He turned to Kyanalurin, motioning her over once more when he noticed a figure on the roof. Vaalzys wasn't sure who this figure was, but didn't really care. He had at least two friends with him, and that was more than enough to play games with. "You can be my friend too, i-if....you want!"
