Horizon Tower
It is a clear early summer morning, the graduating students of Zephyria Academy are beginning to gather at the school's center courtyard, Primrose Courtyard. Horizon Tower, the school's tallest building and bell tower, stands tall at one ends of the courtyard. The tower will be the graduating students' home for the next several days, testing the skills that they have gained during the eight years they have spent at the academy. Several of the students have already made it to Primrose Courtyard, mingling amongst themselves to pass the time while they wait for the bell tower to chime, signalling for the students to enter Horizon Tower. On most days, the tower would chime on the hour every hour but today was special. The tower stood silent as pocket watches ticked past the hour. It would only chime a single time today, once the professors had made their finishing touches on the labyrinths and puzzles within and it was time for the students to enter to tower for their last evaluation at the school.
Name: Avril Notch Gender: Agender (uses he/him pronouns) Age: 9 years old Race: Barometz. Barometz are a race that reproduce via seeds. The parent Barometz plants and nurtures a seed which comes from their body and then eventually forms into the child. The child reaches maturity within several months, having access to much of their parent's memories and knowledge when they are born and then slowly gaining their own identity unique to their parent as their life progresses. Their 'hair' is actually more like soft cotton and grows at a very fast rate. Magical Abilities: Avril studied geomancy, the ability to control the terrain around him and even, to a small extent, change it. This must be done via direct contact to the terrain and he can only effect the earth within a certain radius of himself. Strengths and Weaknesses: Avril was very fascinated by the study of magical flora, fauna and minerals and has a strong knowledge of them. Avril was not interested in the study of alchemy or magical items, basically anything with magical properties that is not organic does not interest him. He is afraid of heights, and cannot use his geomancy while falling or in the air due to the fact he is not in contact with the earth. Background and Personality: Avril's life was not particularly unique for a Barometz, he had a loving family unit that got by farming. When he neared his first birthday, he became enamored with geomancy and left the farm for Zephyria Academy. Having lived in an environment full of magic and learning, the two have become very important to him. Appearance: Avril arrive early, eager to enter the tower and begin his final exam. After giddily waiting in front of the tower's door, hooved feet occasionally shifting impatiently he moved to sit under a small fruited tree, eyes still locked on the tower. Under the tree he began to poke at the grass at the edge of the courtyard's tile, twirling it between his fingers and occasionally observing all the different hues of green it came in before quickly shooting his head back towards the tower. After the grass was done entertaining him he switched to trailing his finger along the tree's roots, but that quickly became boring as well in his impatient state. It was still early in the day, with many of the students not even here, yet Avril was already grumbled to himself as he flopped down onto the grass below the tree and sprawled out on his stomach.
Objective
Currently, all the students are meeting up at Primrose Courtyard. Now would be a good time to introduce your character and get to know everyone else. The students will enter the tower once I feel a good amount of people have joined and have gotten to meet each other. (I will probably put a date this this eventually) No combat during this time... unless you want to go to the dean's office.

Name: Sandraudiga Retz (Her friends call her Sandra[ She doesn't have many friends]) Gender: Female Age: 19 Race: Half Ifrit - Half Dryad Magical Abilities: Her main abilities revolve around pyromancy and plant manipulation and her ability to intertwine the two. Along with this, she spent time learning the very basics of hydrokinesis, mainly as a hobby rather than a real field of study Strengths and Weaknesses: She excels in her abilities of plant and fire manipulation and her ability to seamlessly combine the two, due to her heritage. However, due to her making this her main focus, she is extremely weak when it comes to other forms of magic. Ice and water magic could counteract her very easily Background and Personality: Sandraudiga was very destructive as a child, with no real control over her magic abilities and would often destroy her household and parts of her village. Her uncle, being a teacher of Zephyria Academy at the time, suggested her parents send her there when she was of age in order to harness her potential. Her parents agreed that it would be best for her and sent her off to the Academy. For the first few years, her uncle guided her in her studies, suggesting different types of pyromancy and floral classes as thats what she was naturally adept in. Once leaving the school, however, Sandraudiga wasn't pushed to go outside of her comfort zone and simply stuck with what she knew. It was only during her last year that she decided to take a hydrokinesis class. Sandraudiga tends to come off as incredibly self-centered and narcissistic often being over-confident in her own abilities. She has very few friends, but likes to believe eeeeeeeeveryone likes her, despite it being quite the opposite. Appearance: (She's 5'4") Sandraudiga sauntered through the school towards the tower, a slightly irritated look across her face. She simply wished to be done with this school and wanted to get her final exams done as quickly as possible so she could do something more....glamorous. She'd fixated on the idea of creating her own kingdom from her own powers, creating a floral castle with little flower beings for her to rule over and be worshiped by! The thought alone shook her with excitement as she reached the tower doors, still closed. Her smile quickly faded as she realized she'd be waiting even longer. Sandraudiga let out an exasperated sigh as she stood in front of the doors. "Even more waiting, huh? What a bore." She looked around the area, noticing a barometz that wasn't worth her time, along with several other students who were equally as unimpressive. She walked towards the center of the courtyard and sat along the rim of the fountain. The girl pulled her socks off (for whatever reason, she only seemed to wear socks, no shoes) and dipped her feet in the water. The cooling liquid was a delightful sensation, and it slightly eased her frustrations. She created a small water orb and began moving it around in different directions, just to pass the time.

Name: Polaris, Prince of the North Gender: Male Age:18 Race: Yukai. Yukai are a small subspecies of yeti and elf who live in the more arctic regions of Green Star. Magical Abilities: The ability to conjure ice and control it at will. He can control water, as well. Strengths and Weaknesses: Polaris has made himself known for his agility and strength. The Prince focuses on these attributes more than he does with his ice magic. Background and Personality: Polaris is the heir to a small kingdom of Yukai in the arctic city of Nortic. He traveled far to learn and perfect his skills at Zephyria Academy so that he could return home and be a great leader to his people. The young prince maintains his stately, yet humble, presence and is known to display little emotions. Appearance: ______ Polaris gazed at the tall building in front of him as he approached it closer. He knew the tower as a source of inspiration throughout his days of schooling, but now that the inside Horizon Tower wasn't far from his reach, the impression was far greater. He gazed about his surroundings, seeing the familiar faces of a few school mates hes been acquainted with in the past years. But....idle chat wasn't the goal he had in mind at the moment. He needed to gather the energy of the calm surroundings and be at peace. The prince glided his way over the fountain and sat on the edge with his legs crossed and back straightened. Polaris closed his eyes and held his hands loosely in front of him, listening to the trickling waters not to far from his back.

Avril looked up from his green pillow, bits of dirt stuck to his face. The school's royalty seemed to have situated himself by the fountain, with Zephyria's pseudo-royal seated nearby. This presented him with an opportunity to pass the time, but doing so would require leaving his grassy resting spot and venturing to the center of the courtyard's manmade tiling. It was not as if his aversion to tiles were specifically strong they were just... awkward for him to walk on. He much preferred to have his feet on the actual earth than something manipulated, plus his hooves had a bit of difficulty on said surface.
Despite his distaste for the tiled trek, Avril rose to his hooves and made his way to the fountain. Once there, the barometz cupped some of the fountain's cold water in his hands and splashed it onto his face. He then shook his head, wet droplets spraying across the area, and then ruffles his cottony hair. Finally, Avril topped his obnoxious introduction off with a loud, refreshed sigh. "Hi Sandy!"

Sandraudiga was a bit surprised by the school's ACTUAL royalty sitting next to her, which she simply turned her head away from. She had no interest in speaking to him, or anyone for that matter, and simply let out an annoyed huff as she struggled to maintain control of the water orb due to her frustration. Her concentration was completely broken at the sudden obnoxious voice addressing the girl. She turned her head, an irritated frown on her face. "My friends call me Sandra, Avril." She started in her snarky tone "We are not friends. My name is Sandraudiga." She huffed as she pulled her feet out of the water and turned towards the tiled floor. The girl's hands ignited in an orange glow as she placed her hands in front of her feet in an attempt to dry them more quickly. "I'm surprised you two are even here." She spoke in a pompous tone "I'd imagine only the elite would be here~" She stated, rather matter-of-factly before letting out an arrogant laugh

Polaris broke his posture and hunched over with a slightly perturbed frown across his face. The loud noise and the needlessly negative banter was hard to ignore. The heir sighed in attempts to release the annoyance he held within him, then turned to the other two students nearby. "The exam....it starts soon, yes?" Polaris gave a half hearted smile in disregard the the mean spirited comment. "We should do more preparation and less of the banter."

Name: Moray Blauffe Gender: None (their race has none specific) Age: 18 Race: Evolved golem Magical Abilities: Earth magic Strengths and Weaknesses: Good at punching things and morphing their body, though the morphing took many years at the school studying earth magic. Still could use some improvements. Their short fuse can be a weakness and a strength, though in the wrong setting it can easily be their downfall. Background and Personality: 2000 years ago Golems were first created by a group of magicians performing experiments. Since then Golems have evolved and now can think, speak, and make moral decisions like any other living being. Their life comes from a series of spells and pure earth magic being tethered to a crystal which then becomes the Golem's heart. If they study in the right fields, any Golem nowadays can create another Golem and raise it as their child. Despite years of evolution, Golems still tend to feel incomplete. Moray likes beautiful things like flashy colors, flowers, sparkles, paint, and wishes they could showcase some form of what they see as beauty. They use a mask they painted themselves to appear more like many of the other humanoid beings of the Green Star. Their true face is something they prefer not to show. They are generally friendly and trusting, but if something bothers them to the point of them becoming angry, there is no hesitation and they will cause as much havoc as they can towards what they're angry at until stopped. These rampages have little to no thought behind them and are not hard to fight against. When the rampage is over they are likely to be regretful. Moray grew up with 4 other adult Golems, 3 of which created them directly, helping with binding the magic to their heart and performing the spells. The fourth Golem, Ghemat, took care to parent them until age 10, where the rest of the family thought it would be best for Moray to learn how to control earth magic, as they had all learned it themselves. Moray had average grades at Zephyria Academy, barely passing until now. If they succeed in passing the tower's tests they plan to go home an educated Golem. Appearance: 6ft tall
Moray was looking forward to taking their final test and heading home. They had done their life's schooling and couldn't wait to be done with it. They would much rather be watching sparkling rivers flow or colorful meadows breathe. All the learning and testing was just not something they enjoyed, but begrudgingly, they'd do it for Ghemat. Ghemat was looking forward to seeing their little Moray come home triumphant, they knew for certain. They hoped they'd deliver that smile dutifully, as genuine smiles are truly beautiful no matter what creature donned them. The courtyard was littered with their beautiful fellow students, all of which Moray couldn't help but wish they'd look more like. The sparkling fountain only added to the beautiful scene, and Moray could do nothing more but stop in their tracks and take in the sight. Their nerves were strung higher than usual due to such a big day ahead of them, but the sight of the fountain calmed them, if slightly. Their mask always showed a smile to be on their face, and behind it, Moray's true face mimicked it. It was truly a beautiful day.

Name: Acoou Light Gender: m-m-m-mamle (he is man) Age: 20 Race: just a simple elfbo Magical Abilities: Healing magic, minor in light magic abilities; only simple skills nothing much beyond emitting light and creating light. Strengths and Weaknesses: Given his guardians profession he has a good grasp on medical knowledge, serving to fortify his abilities; Acoou is good at identifying and fixing problems within the body of a living creature that may be affected by healing magic. His lack of physical strength and limited knowledge of powers outside of light leave him no offense. Background and Personality: Abandoned at the age of six Acoou was taken in by a healer- somewhat known within their town, Rezza Light, who passed on some knowledge of the trade. Acoou clung to his new father's side for years, reluctant to leave once he came upon the age he would be eligible to enroll in the academy. He is very empathetic, optimistic and occasionally naive. A small, giddy smile formed on Avril's face as things began to flow according to his plan.
Avril was at first surprised that the self declared princess knew his name, though his befuddled expression quickly changed as a let out a giggle when he realized Sandy was referring to herself as an elite. The idea of her being better than him, or even vise versa... well, how could the two even compare their skills? They studied two completely different fields. Besides, the way she struggled with he water orb she shouldn't be here either by her words.
"Hmmm..." Avril cocked his head from side to side in pseudo-thought, even going as far as to put a finger to his cheek for good measure. "That name's no good. I like Sandy."
Then spoke the cold prince, who quickly caught Avril's easily grabbed attention.
"That won't work," Avril quickly dismissed Polaris, waving both of his hands and shaking his head in a rather animated fashion. "My magic comes from my connection with the terrain... and I have no clue what terrain they'll have in there or if there'll even be one. I'm sure there will be. Geomancers have passed the test before. Don't know if plant and fire combat specialists have though. It's a weird combo."
Out of the crowd Avril spotted a golem and one of his classmate, which was easy to do due to their tall stature. He flashed them a genuine smile and a small wave, having always had an affinity for the earthen beings. In some ways, golems were the same as barometz, and even if they weren't and he was over thinking it at least he and they both shared an affinity for the earth.

What kind of tests could be expected inside? They hoped nothing too taxing. They moved forward again before stopping right when they reached the fountain's edge. They only watched the sparkling lights swirl around. "Lovely." They said absently, "Just as every day, this fountain gives me peace. Are you calming your nerves here as well?"

Name: Bass Gender: Male? Age: 18 Race: Nyrean, an race of humanoid fish-dragons that live in the depths of the ocean. They believe in the Great Nyreas, the sea god, that he created life underwater and he is responcible of keeping it alive. It is also said that their meat and blood has healing abilities Magical Abilities: Water magic and a little illusion magic for camouflage. He can use an orl Nyrean technique known as Nyrean Song that can heal ones mental health ando can break mind controlls and curses Strengths and Weaknesses: He is very fast at water but not so fast at land. He wears a special collar around his neck to keep him hydrated. If that collar is taken away from him whille he is out of water, he might die. He was always very interested on how the life outside the sea was and he wanted to learn more of it when he grew up. One day, his parents were captured by some people of the surface and he never saw them again. After that, his grandfather took care of him and taught him how to use the Nyrean Songs. when he first came to the academy he was excited to see all the new creatures and the world outside the sea. He looks innocent, naive, and a little energetic, but he can be actually pretty dark if someone said something bad about his kind :Appearance: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bass arrived at the fountain, were everyone else was. He waved at them. " Helloooooooo!". He threw a smille at them all. Bass put his feet in the water ruining the peacefullness of the fountain. The water was not to hot nor too cold. It was just the way he liked it. The water reffreshed him, making Bass more cipher than usuall. He began splashing the water, like a child in a bathtub " Fresh Freshy Fresh~ Just what I need!"

"If you continue to call me 'Sandy' then I'll simply have to ignore you." They snapped, coldly as the prince spoke up, to which she rolled her eyes. "What preparations!? We'll surely be waiting a long time anyways! Not that I'd WANT to talk to any of you." She turned her nose up at the two as she put her socks back on as more students began to show up. "I WAS calming my nerves," she stood up, merely assuming the golem was speaking to her. "Until the goat boy decided to bother me." She brushed off her dress of any dust, small cinders drifting off from the ignited areas. Sandraudiga crossed her arms at the current display, clearly displeased with the entire situation. "I just want these stupid exams to be done so I can move on with my damn life." The strange fish student began splashing in the fountain like a child, irritating the girl even further. One, rather unfortunate, wave of water fell onto her dress, soaking it and causing it to droop with a sudden hiss. "COULD YOU NOT!?" She shouted as she brought her arms to the side and stomped her foot. Sandraudiga began to wring out the wet part of her dress, the piece quickly catching fire once more as it reverted to its normal, perky state.

Polaris widened his eyes as more students began to gather around the fountain- which appeared to be a popular place of gathering. His face beamed, reflecting the newfound positive environment he found himself in. Straightening his back once more, he kicked out his feet and interlocked his fingers in front of him in excitement. His smile weakened, however, when the firey maiden beside him made a scene. Hearing that her nerves were in question, he made it his mission to cool her down. "Miss Sandraudiga, you are seeming tense. Is there any thing I can do for you?" He then stood and bowed to her, extending his hand in offering, "perhaps we can pass time by other means than talking."
He cleared his throat, "meditation, I am meaning." Polaris smiled "it is the best way to anticipate such an exam."

The sudden yell of his classmate took Bass by surprise. He looked at his classmate. " No, I cant stop, sorry~! If my skin stays dry for a big period of time, something bad will happen " His face getting a sinister look whille saying the last words. Then he gave Sandraudiga a goofy smille, showing off his pointy teeth " Sorry for splashing water in your dress, Sandrau.... Sandrayde...? Sandraudiga! " he exclaimed pridefull as he was glad he finally pronunced her name correctly.

Moray continued to smile behind their mask, even if the Nyrean was making a scene. "It's good to see everyone enjoying themselves," they muttered,"And good to see you've all made it so far. Good job, everyone." Moray continued to speak quietly until they finished, and moved away from the fountain to let them have their fun. Instead of continuing to stand by the fountain, they decided to wait closer by the door until the bell rang. The fountain was still in their sights and they could see everyone who had made it there so far. It was a lovely display.
