"How about I catch the food, and when I get back, you can help me cook Daryn's portion?" her voice murmured under her breath. "That way, she'll know you thought about her," Ooro nodded. "Is that alright? As for the canteen- it's a container to hold water. I'm assuming you do not have one, so I will fetch a spare for you." Altheron looked down at his feet. Ooro was right; he wasn't at all fast or strong, but he knew he could help. "I just thought..... I could help. Back at home, I used to climb trees to get fruit... hmm....." His voice started to waver as he tried to come up with a solution. None of Ooro's suggestions sounded very nice to him. "Oh, I know!" he shot up, breaking out of his saddened state. "What if I climb onto your back?"

Kama made an extremely loud whistling noise to grab the guilds attention and shouted loud enough for all of them to hear "Gather up in front of the church Shadow Slayers! Introduction time is over!" As the Shadow Slayers gathered up he stood on top of the church stairs as he explained "So this is everyone huh? You all know what you're getting yourselves into right? We're gonna be the guild to end it all. We're gonna be the guild that saves this world. So how are we gonna do it? Well this plan may seem crazy, but there's no easy way to kill every last one of them. We're going to march right into the huge cloud of darkness that covers most of Ignis, and we're going to find Valdus the chosen one. You're probably thinking to yourself 'but isn't Valdus dead?' Maybe he is but his body was never actually found. He disappeared recently and it was just assumed that he died. I chose to gather everyone here at this church because near this church is his footprint trail. Hopefully by following his footprints we can find where he is and find out if he's dead or still alive. There's no certainty that Valdus is still alive out there and there's no certainty that he can end the reign of fearens even if he is, but as of now this plan is the best shot we've got. Many have tried to get to where Valdus is but they were all been killed by fearens. However there's a first time for everything, and this time we'll be the first to succeed! LET'S GO SHADOW SLAYERS!" The Shadow Slayers head out to follow this trail that Kama spoke of. After they found the footprints that Valdus had made they quickly discovered that it led right into the cloud of darkness that covered so much of the planet where the strongest fearens resided. They walked into it, but within this cloud of darkness was a terrifying sight. There laid dead bodies everywhere. Corpses hanging from windows and laying on the floors. The sky was filled with darkness and the ground filled with the blood of innocent victims in this cold, dark place. As Kama followed the trail of footprints through the darkness he noticed something. It was quiet... a bit too quiet. Suddenly fearens started charging towards them from all around, causing the Shadow Slayers to be surrounded. It was a huge herd of them coming in ready to kill the guild members, and now the Shadow Slayers had no choice but to fight. Kama shouted " SHADOW SLAYERS PREPARE FOR BATTLE!" Current Objective
Your current objective is to make your characters defeat the fearens. You may control all of the actions that the fearens take and you may decide whether or not the fearen that your character is fighting is defeated. You may also choose which fearens your character fights. There are multiple of each of these types of fearens here, meaning that there are a whole bunch of each of these guys attacking the guild, not just 4 fearens. These fearens that you're up against now can't talk. They just make generic demon roar sounds. Making your characters use teamwork for this battle is recommended. Do not make your character defeat all of the remaining fearens at any time without my permission, because you need to allow other players a chance to fight some fearens. The fearens you'll be fighting for this battle come in the four different types below:

Alroth - that identity referring to the suit of armor and its persona rather than the tiny woman inside - immediately drew his mace and shield, unlatching the weapon's chain so that it was converted into flail form. It had been a while since the church, but only now was this whole thing starting to feel like a mistake. These fearen were perhaps manageable, but this was only the first wave in an onslaught that could only get worse as they continued their journey. But this was no time to be thinking about the future. Alroth's controller quickly cast a spell, connecting the armor's movements to her own. She was definitely going to need the precision here.
Being on the left side of the caravan, Alroth immediately took the group's left flank. He held his shield in front of him and crouched behind it to be in the most defensible combat stance possible. His flail was out behind him, ready to be swung as soon as necessary. There were a few seconds between them and the fearen. They were very tense seconds, but they provided the chance for the pixie to survey the surrounding area with her firefly drone. Yup - they were completely surrounded.
"I've got the left!" she yelled, the armor's enchantments amplifying her voice to a louder, more human volume. The pixie didn't bother trying to disguise her tiny vocal tone. By now most of the others had either figured out her ruse or witnessed it first hand, so there wasn't much point trying to pretend around them anymore.
With most of the other fighters being fragile mages and range-types, there really wasn't anyone to contest Alroth's position. By claiming the left side he expected the others to stay behind him in that direction, since passing by him would put them in considerably more danger on the front line. The pixie puppeteer was clever and quick-thinking, but she didn't have the mind to suggest anyone take the other three sides. Her mind was more focused on her own place in the battle, and only those that were directly affected by it. Hopefully someone would, though, as a stationary formation would benefit them much more in this ambush situation. Getting separated meant getting surrounded again, and they would stand a lot less chance in that case.
With a mighty heave, Alroth threw his first attack, flailing his massive ball into the body of a charging bulk fearen. The creature's armor was easily shattered by the attack, but the blow was missing the right leverage to immediately kill the beast. The huge metal ball thudded against the ground, and Alroth pulled it back to his side to prepare another attack.

Odessa turned around to follow the trail. She guessed the others were okay, but this wasn't the time to stress about that. If someone needed help, or a fearen had a death wish, she'd make it happen.
Winged fearens threatened her from the birds' eye view. Her shooting spells could bring it down, but it looked too far away. It was worth a shot while others were focusing on the land-based fearens.
"Blitz!"
Magical ammunition shot from her staff, piercing the wings of fearens above her. Relief went through her. Now she'd try to see if any were coming back, or if anyone needed her help.

Fearens?
There's no way he could take down any of these things. Most of his other opponents were easy to read since they were humanoid. A fearen had no emotion other than kill, kill, and kill some more. With that he had only one thing on his side though: unpredictability. He swiped a small notebook from a corpse hanging from a half destroyed building. Thankfully, the corpse was recently rotting, the information could prove reliable. He retreated into the building where the corpse was hanging and played dead while reading up on critical information.
He flipped through the pages, skimming the contents. The contents within shared some critical information on these fearens, including their weaknesses. Osseus made an almost inaudible groan as he realized that a majority of these 4 types of fearens that were documented had majority magic weaknesses. There was no way he could fight any of these without quick thinking, and even then it only worked on hound and bulk fearens.
Right after he thought that, a giant bulk fearen loomed over the building. Still playing dead, the bulk fearen slowly sauntered away. With this, Osseus rose from under the dead body, stuffed the book into his hood, and scaled the building, ready to break that bulky monstrosity's cover. He jumped from the highest point, leg stretched out in order to get the full force of his kick, and broke the shell easily. With that, he scaled the remaining portion of the creature and sliced off the head of the weakened fearen with nothing but a rather small sword.
"This won't be too hard, huh...." Osseus thought to himself. Maybe his lack of magic could help with all of these magic users here. Maybe he was...worth something.
((by the way the information in the book was stuff written on the intro post))

The best position for an archer would be from a good vantage point. Looking around him, Fallen could see that the highest vantage point was in front of the group a few hundred feet away. He wouldn't be able to get there with all of the fearen in the way, so he decided to stay in the middle of the group.
Okay... let's review their weaknesses. From what he could see, there were four types of fearen. Winged, sting, hound, and bulk. He knew the weaknesses of each and, with transmutation, could match his arrows to accommodate for all except the hound types. So long as he had arrows, of course. He could make more at any given time, but he'd require cover.
Fallen heard a flurry of "caws" from above. Five more winged fearen were flocking in to attack the group. Fallen readied an arrow with an explosive gem attached. I don't need to use transmutation for these. He fired the arrow and watched as it hit the closest winged fearen and exploded like fireworks in the night sky. That took care of those... but this fight is far from over.

"I just thought..... I could help. Back at home, I used to climb trees to get fruit... hmm....." His voice started to waver as he tried to come up with a solution. None of Ooro's suggestions sounded very nice to him. "Oh, I know!" he shot up, breaking out of his saddened state. "What if I climb into your back?" Fearens now surrounded the group, inching closer from all angles. Her eyes darted across the field, trying to find a safe spot, but alas their seemed to be a lack of areas for her to shroud herself in. To make matters worse, there was no opening between their enemies. "Altheron! We'll have to discuss this later, it seems your job is calling you," she says quickly as her body begins to withdraw from the scene. "If you have an injury, let me know. Good luck!" Ooro wasted no time in hiding herself away. Unlike her peers, she did not possess any special abilities that gave her an edge in battle. Her duty was to provide and patch up wounds as needed, but otherwise all she could was spectate from afar at the very best. Inside the cloud, she huddled up against a dimly lit area as to try and conceal herself. Unfortunately, they were confined to a tight space, so there was not much she could do in terms of subtlety. Outside were the roars of the Fearen, who howled vigorously and charged. Her eyes could only catch a glimpse of the battle, but over time in the forest when her ears began to change, so did her hearing. The sounds of metal clanking and sparks shooting up in the air had become audible to her. Hopefully, she could hear a recruit's cry if they needed aid over the Fearens' blood-curdling shrieks. There is nothing to do, but wait at this moment... Doubt began to settle in, her spot was still all-too-open for Fearen to intrude. While her speed was certainly an advantage, she could only dodge attacks for so long. It was only a matter of time before they would spot her. As her thoughts became overwhelmed with those of worry, her stomach churned. A sharp pang hit her in the gut. She moved one hand to hold it for a moment... her face contorting with pain. Sweat dripped from her forehead, this feeling was familiar... and to have it happen now only served to terrify her further. Her ears perked up at the sound of a screech overhead, followed by the swing of a venomous stinger. She had evaded it barely by an inch, but the beast swung itself again. The pain in her sharpened, and she doubled over in response. She was right in the way of the stinger...

Oxy, surprisingly, was not frightened as the fearens approached. Before he had gotten his cloak, his mother and him and spent many days wandering in different packs with the fearens, although not for very long in fear they'd notice how strange Oxy's form was. In a strange way, he felt more at home with them than anything, but Celty knew the danger they possessed now that Oxy was disguised as a regular shapeshifter. She thought about removing his cloak so he could blend in for now, but didn't want to risk anyone noticing after she'd just explained how weak his shapeshifting abilities were. She morphed her hands into claws and burrowed a hole as fast as she could, making it deep enough for the toddler to be able to hide in. She removed her cloths, covering herself in a layer of fur even though she doubted anyone would care at a time like this, and handled them to Oxy.
"You stay here, alright?" She whispered, smiling at him despite how terrified she was. She tried to remember the last time she'd left her son's side, but couldn't. "You have to be veeeeery quiet. Don't come out until I come back for you. And if a fearen comes, take off your cloak and morph yourself as much as you can to look like them. Can you do that for mama?"
Oxy nodded, holding tightly to his mother's cloths. He scampered into the hole and out of her sight.
Celty turned towards the battle, teeth bared, and slowly began transitioning into one of the hound type fearens, not even pausing to think that not all her team mates knew of her shapeshifting abilities, or even bothering to inform the ones that did of her plan. She started to creep into the group of hounds, and before they even realized it, began slashing open their necks with her fangs, confusing them since she appeared to be one of their own. She darted between them and continued to move to different sections of the group, taking out a different hound every few minutes while they began to turn on each other in a confused rage, uncertain what was happening.

Enoch's face was set into a hardened glare, watching grimly as many of the fighters blindly went darting in. "No no... There's no strategy, they're going to get themselves killed..." He shook his head and shifted his focus to the problem at hand as several bulky forms lumbered towards him and Daryn.
Enoch shot Daryn a quick look and began readying some Haste magic to speed Daryn's time up. "Focus on the big guys and hit them with everything you've got. Dodge as best as you can. If you get into a tight spot I'll bail you out." He lifted his glaive, the magic changing the flow of time around Daryn and making her movements appear 5 times as fast to the unaffected eye.
He smirked a bit and proceeded to cast a Slow spell on the surrounding fearen. Pointing his glaive at the enemy, he stepped into a fighting stance and shouted, "I'll follow your lead, be careful!!"

Daryn charged forth, following the commands of Enoch. She felt the world slow down around her. She continued to move as she normally would, slashing a bulk fearen across the chest, once, twice, three times. The force had begun to slowly knock the beast back, and as it did so, she took one last stab to its core. Believing this to be adequate, she repeated the process against 4 more bulk, avoiding all other fearen who slowly appeared in her way. She could feel time speeding back up at the slow collapse of the bulk in front of her, and hurried back next to Enoch, time officially becoming normal again.
"Nice. How many times do you think you'll be able to do that?" She said, breath only slightly hindered. "More are coming."

Show time. Manasa wouldn't repeat the same mistakes she made before. Everbody would stay alive, and it would be thanks to her. Manasa found a clearing away from the battle and focused on her allies.
Manasa started rhythmically swaying her hips and shoulders in alternating isolations. Ideally she would have done this before the fight started, but she could pull it off now. Of course she could. As her dance went on it got more complex, her eyes began to glow a bright gold. A few fearen of varying type caught attention of her glowing eyes and turned towards, beginning to close in. This wasn't good. Manasa could probably hold her own, but doing so would mean interrupting her dance, rendering it useless. She knew she shouldn't have tried something so complex right now, but she wanted to impress the others... She wanted to show off. Manasa prayed for back up as she rushed through the remaining steps of her dance, glow in her eyes growing more intense.

"Well all right then!" Alroth roared as half of the others aimlessly broke formation. There was no way he could rely on them to guard the other sides, so it seemed that - ironically enough - the best course of action was to go into this as if he was alone. Their party was all spread out and totally ineffective defensively. Fearen would be running amongst them within seconds with no one making an effort to hold any kind of line.
The knight crushed a charging beast's face with his shield, buying a second or two to put it on his back again. Alroth turned and let loose his flail. The wide, sweeping attack crashed into a small group of charging fearen, crushing them aside and piling them up. They weren't entirely defeated, but most importantly they were out of the way. Alroth took this second opening to reel in the chain on his weapon and revert it back to mace format. This way he could effectively wield it with both hands, and wield it he did. Turning on his heels with a massive momentum he hit an oncoming fearen like an athlete hitting a ball, and the fearen played its roll in the metaphor well, flying quite a distance after the impact.
"SO WHAT'S THE PLAN?!" Alroth yelled to whomever had an answer.

"Nice. How many times do you think you'll be able to do that?" She said, breath only slightly hindered. "More are coming." As the sound of flapping wings passed overhead, Enoch quickly put up a barrier around the two of them, blocking the ice spikes entirely. "Hold on one moment," He watched curiously as they flew overhead towards a different target somewhere behind then, but not before pouring out another rain of spikes. He lowered the barrier and held up his glaive. Once Daryn's spell wore off completely, he immediately cast the Haste spell again, renewing the Slow spell on the couple of fearen coming directly at them, catching his breath for a moment. "Don't worry about it. Focus on fighting, and only start worrying if I need to stop time and rescue you!" "SO WHAT'S THE PLAN?!" Alroth yelled to whomever had an answer. Enoch looked over in surprise before focusing on Daryn as he responded. "We need to evenly space out our forces! Everyone is scattered, Daryn and I have no combat mage or long ranged attacker. The formation is staggered and fearen are already swarming through. We need to start pulling back in!"

" SO WHAT'S THE PLAN?!" Alroth yelled to whomever had an answer. Celty heard the giant metal creature shout this question and realized she'd blindly gone into battle without consulting any of her comrades. She cursed silently to herself and ran up to him, leaving the hounds in a fit of rage as they swiped at each other and tried to figure out who was the betrayer among them. She morphed herself quickly back into her main form before he could mistake her for a true fearen. "My apologies, I don't believe we ever got the chance to introduce ourselves. I'm Celty, the shapeshifter. I managed to infiltrate the hounds as one of their own and cause confusion, but I'm not sure how much longer that will distract them. If you have any ideas, I'm all ears."
