[CHAPTER 1]You're Hired!
The response to the "help wanted" ad he ran in the paper humbled dear Chef Lionnac. He alone interviewed over 30 young chefs that visited his small bakery looking for employment. Picking only 8 of them proved to be a very hard choice. Regardless, after a week of thought, he called the 8 chefs he saw the most potential in: Kori, Kuma, Cassi, Estelle, Tisivy, Miffy, Quinn, and Pip. With each call, he left the same message: "Dearest Chef! Throughout the course of the interviewing process, I am please to inform you you have made the cut! If you decide to accept the position, I welcome you with open arms! I have scheduled an introduction for you to meet your fellow coworkers next Sunday at 9am. The 8 of you will be working together to make a special treat, so I hope you're prepared! See you soon!"
Kori walked through the door of the bakery, her presence made known by the gentle ring of the bell that dangled on the inside of the door's handle. She looked around the bakery, taking in the sent of the freshly baked bread that lined the walls and the beautiful pastries she would one day make lined up in a case not to far from the resister. Behind it was a small old man with a wide grin slapped a crossed his face. "Oh!" Kori spoke softy, "You're Chef Lionnac, right?" Chef nodded, his smile never easing, "Indeed I am! It's nice to see you make it, my dear." He reached out his hand over the counter waiting for the proper response. Kori returned the favor immediately, gently taking his hand and shaking it. His hands were cold and his grip soft-- It was a quality most high end pastry chefs were blessed with. "It seems you are the first one here, feel free to sit at the table while everyone else shows up. I'll start going over the introduction as soon as everyone is gathered." "Yes chef!" Kori said, nodding her head as she did so. "I'm very happy you hired me, sir. I hope I don't disappoint."
Chef Lionnac laughed, "It's alright, I'm positive you'll be fine. After all....baking is a--

Today was the day. Today was Kuma's first day at their new job as a chef..? Baker..? Well they were working with food, and that's all she cared about. Walking as fast as their little legs could take them, they arrived at their new workplace. As if to make a grand entrance, they kicked the door open....or, at least they TRIED to kick the door open. Being a mere 3 foot 8 inches made their kicks surprisingly ineffective. Kuma sighed in annoyance and pushed the door open with all their might. As it swung open, the little bell ringing, they held their arms out towards the sky. "Tis I! Kuma!" They exclaimed, excitedly.

Cassi pulled up in her old Dodge Dakota, the blue paint barely clinging on the sides as the engine grumbled to a slow stop. She checked herself in the rear view mirror, fluffing the ends of her hair and flattening down the top as she tried to make herself presentable. She was lucky to get this job, after applying to dozens of nearby locations and receiving absolutely no response. Not even from McDonalds. Her less than sparkling resume made it hard to find work in new towns.
After slugging on one of her nicer sweaters, she exited the car. Locking the doors, she frowned when she noticed she wasn't quite in the lines. She stood there for a solid minute, uncertain if she should get back in and fix the error, or if it was worth the effort. Sighing, she got back in the car, realigned the tires, and got back out. Walking towards the front door, she stopped again, felt her pockets, and ran back a second time. She pulled her phone out from its charger before slamming the door shut again in frustration. A few flakes of paint chipped off the side from the force. Now she was back where she started. Standing nervously next to her car. She eyed the store once more, checking her GPS to guarantee she was at the right place. Which was stupid; of course she was. She'd been interviewed here. But still, who knows! Maybe they'd switched locations in that short amount of time! Maybe there was more than one store and she'd been hired at a different one! She didn't want to look like an idiot and walk into the wrong place.
With a deep breath, she squashed her anxiety deep into the pit of her stomach before shoving her phone into her pocket and walking briskly towards the entrance once more. The door chimed when she opened it, startling her so that she let out a small "ah!" as it closed behind her. She looked around the store with wide, terrified eyes, pushing her hair behind ears and shifting from foot to foot. There was a tentative smile on her face. She seemed to have lost her voice, unable to speak to those who were already in the store.

Estelle rode her bike rampantly huffing and puffing in hopes that she wasn't going to be late for her big day! After all, she was going to be a chef and do something productive in her life.
After biking 20 minutes, she finally found a bike rack. She quickly parked her bike and locked it to the rack. She looked around and saw the lovely sign to the bakery that she will be working at for goodness how long?
Estelle tried to open the door, but it wasn't budging. "Goodness gracious, not today..." she thought struggling to open the door. After one hard pull, she tumbled away from the store and crashed into another bike rack. "At least the door opened~!" she said happily.
She dusted herself off and proceeded to walk into the bakery. She looked around and admired the beauty of the place. She also took a deep breath. "Ahhh it smells good in here!" she thought. Her stomach growled at the thought. "Ahhhhh I'm hungryyyyyyy~!" she said out loud. She sadly walked towards a table, ignoring everyone around her. The only thing on her mind aside from wanting to start working was of course, food.

"Bye Snowcone, bye Taffy, bye Mochi, bye Cherry," Pip stopped by each of his birds on his way out the door, making sure to say good bye to each and every one before leaving for the day. Each bird responded in their own way; the cockatiel by whistling a song Pip had taught her, the bonded parrotlets by snuggling close on their perch, ready to keep each other company in his stead. A squeaky "Bye bye" came from Cherry the Eclectus' beak as she lifted her foot and waved to Pip, her human doing the same one last time before turning away and closing the door behind himself.
And so, Pip began his long, arduous journey all the way to his new job, which just happened to be located directly across the street. Would he make it? In the dangerous wilds of suburbia it was truly a mystery. On his way towards the bakery Pip passed a beaten blue car, a true sign that outside was a truly dangerous place. There were... people, other humans, outside. The sheer thought of encountering a person, or several (gasp!) sent shivers up Pip's spine.
After finally mastering the dangerous journey through the vast unknown, Pip had made it to his prize; the door to the rather adorable and kitschy looking bakery. With the last of his energy Pip made his way through, immediately welcomed by a delicous medley of sweet and delicate smells that brought a smile to Pip's face.
"Time for some teflon free, bird safe baking!" Pip exclaimed, hopping excitedly on one foot. However, he quickly remembered he wasn't the only one here. The birdie boy blushed, turned away slightly from the gathered crowd to hide how embarrassed he was.

Miffy's heels tapped lightly against the concrete and she walked up the sidewalk. Today she would be leaving the guidance of her mentor- known where she's from as the "Kitchen Witch," Landa- and go off into the field on her own. Taking in a deep breath, the young woman filled her herself with confidence. Surely, surely, a job like this would be nothing for her. Her eyes swept over the surrounding scenery, the shops and buildings all around. It was quite nice location, Miffy knew things could only go well. At last she had reached the front of the shop and turned her head down towards her shoes as she placed her hand on the doorknob. In one movement Miffy opened the door and threw her head upwards, her face practically glowing, as she took a step into the shop. "Oh, hello everyone!" The woman belted as she stepped further in looking over the others who were present.
