In the general direction she was looking, their loud leader called out to her to join and meet the newcomer. Inwardly she sighed, hoping this person was not as idiotic as the rest, and walked over. When she arrived she nodded in acknowledgement of their new acquaintance, being near enough at the time to hear her introduce herself as 'Ani'Chi'. "As she said. I am an Emendeuth. Isla," she said with her usual stern tone and stood straight-backed with her arms crossed behind her. Ani watched the rather talkative woman depart wordlessly. It wasnt her place to judge their emotions, what the girl who introduced herself as Florence had shown in the moment her smile faltered wasn't entirely of Ani'Chi's concern. She had no attachment and felt no reason to comfort this woman, and if things went right, it'd stay that way. Instead of dwell to much on that Ani turned her attention to the woman who had been eying her just earlier. "I see." Giving clear attention as the approaching woman introduced herself, Ani affirmed wholly that she had caught what was said. "So," She took in a breath before adjusting her hair in her hood. "you seem fairly..." There was a small pause as she gathered sarcastic emphasis before ending her statement. " enthralled being here, madame."

((pretend this was posted before jintama approached eli)) "I am glad you are still alive. Perhaps once this is over... the college can be restored..." She meekly picked her head up, "I mean, it's kind of like what you teach. Wildlife flora and fauna both may perish, but something can live on in its place, right? So I'm sure..." she offered a weak smile as her eyebrows drew tightly, trying to reach for a light reaction within her professor, and possibly herself at the same time. Vervain smiled. "Yes, yes. You are most correct, Eli. The cycle of life and death never ceases; it must always continue. And after death, there is always guaranteed life. I would like nothing more than to rebuild the school with you by my side." "May I ask for your name?" she asked the small fellow, "It's a little rude to keep calling you as I have been. I should have asked earlier... so I apologize for being late." Pippin shook his head, pulling himself out of thought as Eliza asked for his name. He looked up at her, taking a moment to process what had been asked while he had been busy in his own thoughts and then swallowed. "I'm Pippin." "Well, well.. This is a surprise!" Vervain walked closer to Pippin and crouched down, placing a palm on the little goblin's head. Pippin had been a student that he taught outside of school. He realized that not everyone was able to attend a college as prestigious as Aeuyen, so when the goblinoid asked for help, Vervain couldn't very well refuse him. He had to say, though, that he never would have expected him to leave the shop where he worked. Unless... "It is good to see you, too, Pippin. Have you been making good use of what I've taught you? How's your boss doing?" He asked, eager to get to know how his old student.[/quote]

Pippin stood perfectly still, watching the man Eliza pointed at with wide eyes with an occasional turn of the head before finally jumping out of his hiding spot and landing next to the elf with a small trill. Quincy's momentary confidence was shattered as some kind of... thing burst forth from the surrounding nature. She stood dead in her tracks, her knees practically knocking together despite the fact that she was a good twenty feet away from that particular gathering. She had started to teeter, the edges of her visions growing cloudy as she swayed. Her face paled and she opened her mouth like she were about to scream, but instead her lips were greeted by the soft soil as she slammed into it. Unconscious.

"They're dead," Pippin said rather flatly, not taking to fondly of being treated like a child. He may be small, and a lot younger than everybody around him, but that was because they all matured too slowly. He was a perfectly capable six year old. Just as the goblin was about to protest, the loud thud of Quincy's body hitting the earth caused Pippin to spring up. His head snapped into position, locking onto the site of Quincy now laying unconscious on the ground as panic began to brew in his stomach. Did one of the other people here attack her?! Poison her?! Silently snap her neck when nobody was looking?! Pippin's tiny hands wrapped around his own neck protectively as his eyes darted around at the other people in the meadows, trying to judge who best to run away from.

"Pippin! It rolls off the tongue nicely. It's nice to meet you," she nodded, watching her Professor's eyes light up when suddenly-
Eliza jolted in place upon hearing the sudden voice beside her. A human girl had approached her side without her notice and introduced herself. "Yes, I did. I'm Eliza Chrysillis," she bent herself forward, gesturing a bow to the redhead before continuing, "I hope we can work together, Jintama." As her eyes scanned the recruit, she couldn't help but wonder what the girl's prowess excelled in. Her garments did not resemble any type of warrior's armor, being made of cloth with no metallic reinforcement whatsoever. She didn't spot any kind of armament on her person either, and appeared rather bare. However, Eliza hadn't been sporting any armor or weaponry either, so perhaps this newcomer was a magician like herself?
As she curiously mulled over the possible potential of the new face, a thump was heard in the distance, followed by the frantic eyes of Pippin. The goblin had hurriedly cupped his hands around his neck, his pupils in a fearful search for an assailant. Just a few yards away, a young woman was unconscious against the soil as her eyelids were tightly shut. Did something happen? "A-ah!" her voice cried out as she scurried to the girl's side. Eliza brought her fingers to the girls wrist, letting out a sigh of relief as the light thumps of her heart could be felt through the flesh. Still, she had no idea as to what could've caused such a reaction, and when it came to medical skills she harbored none. Eliza drew a breath as she raised her voice, wavering slightly as concern struck her face, "Uh- does anyone know what could be wrong?" she called out.

Her face paled and she opened her mouth like she were about to scream, but instead her lips were greeted by the soft soil as she slammed into it. Unconscious. Florence dropped her bag in front of the bench, the bag making several metal clangs upon making contact with the ground. She witnessed a commotion starting a distance away as her new friend Quincy collapsed on the ground. Her eyes darted around the area, gun extended and blue canisters glowing. What attacked her? One of the other members? Did they already have a spy? Or was it those damn mole people she was positive she saw upon entering the Aurous Meadows before anyone else arrived? Whatever it was, Florence wouldn't be caught off guard. The gunslinger ran over to the group, eyes darting for any sort of suspicious activity in the distance. Her gun was still being pointed straight ahead, however towards no one in particular, as she joined the crowd. "What happened!? Who's attacking!?" She exclaimed, her face completely devoid of any smile or sign of happiness. It was instead replaced with a grave expression. "Watch my back!" She commanded, not waiting for anyone to answer her questions as she knelt down next to Quincy and rolled her over, taking her wrist and holding it in her hand. "She has a pulse. And she appears to be breathing." Florence shot back up from the ground, gun extended once more as she checked the area for any sign of danger.

Eliza drew a breath as she raised her voice, wavering slightly as concern struck her face, "Uh- does anyone know what could be wrong?" she called out. Quincy's eyelids fluttered for a moment, her breathing getting a bit quicker as she started to come to her. Her eyes stayed about halfway opening, flickering between the happy girl she'd already met and this new one with the pointy ears and blue sliver up her face. One of her hands shakily rose to her chest and clutched at it, where she could feel her heart begin to race as she remembered what had caused her to pass out in the first place. "Lizard m-monster," Her voice was hoarse and she couldn't manage to get anything out past that before she was hyperventilating, her eyes now wide as she struggled to get enough air into her tiny frame.

Lizard monster? Vervain looked around for this so called "lizard monster", but could find no such thing. He briefly recalled how relieved Quincy had felt once the smaller animals in the area had left. Could she be afraid of little creatures...? Or...
Vervain glanced at Pippin, then at Quincy. The way she had fallen, or the position rather, would have given her an unobstructed view of their goblin friend. Vervain reached up and scratched the back of his head. "Oh, dear." He muttered under his breath, the pieces finally clicking.
Vervain approached her again, much like he had done when he first met her. "Rest assured, there is no... lizard monster... here, Miss Marsh. I hope you're not confusing Pippin for one of the those reptilians." He made sure to stand in such a way that Quincy's view of Pippin would be blocked, less she would faint again.

Florence eyes widened to the size of softballs at the mention of lizard monsters, as there was only one sort of lizard monster she knew. Reptilians. So her theory for what was wrong with the city was holding strong. The surprise at the mention of reptilians caused the girl to shoot off a magic bolt into the distance, the orb bursting into a small explosion. " Oh shit." She muttered under her breath, shakily. Pippin? Who the hell was Pippin? Florence turned back to the group, counting the heads of each member she'd come to befriend, nearly missing the new member due to his small stature. She let out an audible gasp of excitement at the site of her first non human friend (as far as she knew). She bent over to get a closer look at him, ensuring he wasn't reptilian, and holding her hand out to the goblin once she confirmed he wasn't any part lizard (again, as far as she knows.) She turned to Quincy, her smile returning. "Oh, silly Quincy! There aren't any lizard monsters around! Unless.... this goblin isn't the one you were referring to.." She looked around a bit before turning back to Pippin. "Well hi-ya, Pippin, my non-reptilian buddy! Come to join my crew?" She inquired. "I'm Florence! Florence Loftwill! Daughter of Isaac Loftwill! It's a pleasure to meet you!"

"As do you," Isla retorted with a near-equal amount of sarcasm. There was not much Isla could go by for her sarcastic remark to apply, for she could still only see the woman's eyes. "This group seems an interesting bunch of-" she glanced around at those in her presence with slight distaste. "Individuals."

Pippin's ears practically flattened as blame was quickly pinned on him. Of course, blame the green guy. He lowered his hands back down to his side, however, though his posture still remained tense. With everybody's attention now aimed at him, for all he knew they could decide he needed to be gotten rid of. They seemed nice enough but humans and elves were always that way, Pippin had trouble reading them. A woman made he way toward him, by now he had surmised she was the leader of the group, and addressed the goblin. Unless.... this goblin isn't the one you were referring to.." It's a pleasure to meet you." Pippin looked down at Florence's hand, and then back down at the woman and then down at her hand again. This repeated several more times before the goblin finally locked eyes with her, shoving his hands in his over sized coat's pockets. "Hiya... you don't need to. Do that. When you talk to me. Talk to me like an adult, I'm six."

Quincy didn't seem persuaded by her new acquaintances words. It was clear if she didn't calm down soon, she would just faint again under the stress. She tried to roll over her stomach, away from the small goblin, but only managed to get as far as her side before seeming to get stuck, one arm trapped underneath her while the other still held her chest tightly.
"He's gonna...k-kill..." She beat the ground with her fist, taking a handful of dirt with a clawed hand as her eyelids started to flutter again.

Jintama was about to be more acquainted with Eliza until the until this girl..... Quincy, was it??? Anyways, she is making a big deal out of the goblin... Pipin?? Calling him a lizard monster??"Oh for crying out loud..." "He's gonna...k-kill..." She beat the ground with her fist, taking a handful of dirt with a clawed hand as her eyelids started to flutter again. Jintama shook her head. "This is rediculous" She muttered to herself. She walked over and kneeled down next to Quincy. Jintama lightly smacked her upside the head. (It wouldn't hurt too much but hopefully it would snap Quincy out of it.) "Hey kid! Snap out of it! The goblin is harmless enough! Jeez!"

Pippin looked down at Florence's hand, and then back down at the woman and then down at her hand again. This repeated several more times before the goblin finally locked eyes with her, shoving his hands in his over sized coat's pockets. "Hiya... you don't need to. Do that. When you talk to me. Talk to me like an adult, I'm six." Florence frowned as the 'man' walked to her, refusing her handshake as though it were a slap to the face. Another bead of sweat rolled down her face as she realized this may have not been the way to go about introducing herself to any of these people. But its what her father used to do, and people seemed to love him! So, why wasn't it working for her? Florence stood back up and scratched the back of her head. "That's....just how I introduce..myself... sorry, Mister." She said flatly as the sound of a quickly administered slapped caused the girl to flinch. She turned to see who the perpetrator was to find Jintama slapping Quincy upside the head. Her frown deepened into a scowl as she marched towards the girl. "HEY!!" She shouted. "Leave her alone!! She's just scared!! Who the hell wouldn't be in all this!?!" She held her arms out to emphasis the shitty world they currently resided in. "If you're gonna be a part of my crew, here's my number one rule!!" She now raised her voice so that everyone could hear her. "We don't fight each other! We don't hit each other, we don't hurt each other!! Understand!?" She stood in front of the group, trying to sound as confident as possible despite her heart racing a million miles a minute at the idea that it was HER giving commands to all these people.
