The carriage door swung open as the kids poured out, and possibly most energetic of them all, a small hyena boy leaped out and took a huge breath of the air around him. His beady eyes opened up and looked at his new home with a smug gaze. "Not too shabby!" he smirked, rubbing his nose. He made his way inside with his hands dug casually into his pockets and leaned against the entry way door, observing the kids around him.

Merle stepped out of the carriage, breathing in deeply. And then grinned, eyes wide, at this huuuuge building in front! C-R-A-W-F-O-R-D. What did that mean? It was really nifty, the kid decided. Yes, looked very fun! He increased his pace a little to take a good look inside. Woah! There was this wonderful, soft sensation under his Afflicted feet... Carpet? Merle really wanted to flop onto the floor and roll around a little, but suppressed the urge because others might trip over him and start getting angry. Eheh. Merle just about flinched at the sight of a large spider's shadow by the wall, and stepped back a few steps. Everyone was being directed to sit down, so Merle chose the closest seat - one by a rain-stained window, and sat down. Had to be careful not to swing his legs, what with the claws on his feet and all. He looked up. There was a miserable-looking bird-person walking up, so he waved them over. "Heyy," he said in chipper tones, "you wanna sit with me?" (( C♡c♡ and sorta MonkeyandMooseInc ))

Machi stood at attention as the mistress passed her by, a warm smile plastered across her face, despite the harsh tone of Carmella's voice stinging her ears. She simple giggled at the woman's attitude and gave her a bow. "Only the best for you, my lady~!" She cooed, her words smooth like velvet. She followed after Carmella, incredibly eager to see what children would be filling the orphanage with newfound excitement this time around. As she stood in the main hall, she couldn't help but chuckle at Earnest's excitement. "Well, aren't you adorable~!" She chimed, smiling at the boy "Eager to make friends, I suppose?"
Archie crawled his way out of the carriage rather quickly, not wanting to spend any more unnecessary time in that cramped space. His body wasn't exactly built for tight spaces. As he made his way into his new 'home' for Gods know how long, he was greeted by a rather stern woman, an eager rabbit...child, and what appeared to be a maid. Archie averted eye contact and backed himself towards the corner of the room, showing no interest in interacting with any of these strangers. "I am, I am!" Earnest cried happily, his ears perking up and tilting towards the front door as the children began to pour in. He clasped his hands together in excitement, eyes wide and smile beaming. "Look, look!" He pointed with both his hands still firmly together, each hop getting slightly higher with every new face. He waited impatiently for Carmella to finish her short introduction before blasting over to the first child he'd seen enter the room. "Hi, hi!" He practically screamed at the spider boy, raising one hand in a feverish wave while the other clasped at the edge of his dress. "I'm Earnest, apart of the welcoming crew! I've been here my whoooooooooole life so if you have any questions, ask me please! Please!" He stopped bouncing and instead switched to thumping his foot loudly on the floor as small giggles snaked between his buck teeth.

Traveling to a new orphanage always made Gear feel uneasy. This would be the third one he'd be transferred to. For some reason too grand for him to imagine, he could never settle in one place too long. So he had to wonder... when would he be leaving here, wherever here would turn out to be? Why would nobody adopt him? He wasn't even sure if he would want anyone to... He waved goodbye to the Keeper who had overseen his stay at Freidman's. The man was kind to him - all of the kids, really. But Gear could tell he was overworked. Perhaps he was glad that there was a new orphanage accepting children. Perhaps he was glad that Gear was chosen. He liked to keep a low-profile at the orphanages. Problem-children wind up "disappearing" somehow, but children like him end up disappearing as well. Perhaps at this new orphanage he'd try a little harder. As he boarded the carriage, he leaned his head back against his seat. It was nearly night time. He didn't make any eye contact with any of the children already present in the carriage. Perhaps he'd talk to them when they arrived at their destination.
The first thing he noticed when he exited the carriage was that the orphanage - Crawford's, apparently - was visibly in a much better state than Freidman's was. Freidman's was borderline rundown, likely the result of having been home to so many children since the Affliction began. On his way through the entrance, he passed by a taller kid that resembled some kind of dog. Gear stopped in front of the boy. "H-hello!" he managed before clearing out of the entryway. dainty

He stopped bouncing and instead switched to thumping his foot loudly on the floor as small giggles snaked between his buck teeth. Archie nearly screamed as the rabbit child sprinted over to him, the spider boy jumping backwards and hitting the wall. He jolted forward slightly, still in panic mode after he thought he may have hit somebody with his abdomen, but in reality it was merely a coat hanger. As the boy attempted to calm his nerves, he found the rabbit boy, who had introduced himself as Earnest, seemed to be waiting eagerly for some sort of response out of him. "U-u-uh...." Archie began stuttering before venom-filled drool began to drip from his lip. His face flushed red as he felt the liquid running down his chin and quickly grabbed the napkin tucked into the collar of his shirt to wipe the saliva away. He opted to keep the napkin in front of his mouth when responding, his timid nature bursting forth. "H-h-hi.... I'm Archie.." The boy avoided eye contact with Earnest, looking at the ground instead as the blush continued spreading across his face as he tried to think of a question for the boy. "U-uhm... d-do we get socks here..?" He inquired, looking down towards his own feet, frowning at the only pair of socks he owned.
Machi giggled at the lively bunch of children pouring into the room, all of whom seemed to be getting along rather well for the most part. Scanning over them all was a sight to behold. The variety of animal species was apparent in these new orphans, and she couldn't help but ponder what sort of abilities these children possessed. But instead of intimidate them by bombarding them with questions, she opted to stand near Carmella as the group continued to mingle.

Lou's sly gaze turned to lock onto a peculiar looking boy. He looked him up and down for a moment before his wide, toothy grin spread over his freckled face. "Hi, there!" He handed out an open palm, offering a handshake. Finally, someone decided to approach him despite his loud exterior! Hopefully, he won't screw this one up. "Th'name's Lou!" He greets with a small chuckle. zenguardian

The badger managed to catch Theo's attention. He stood there for a moment before nodding and taking the seat. "Thank you." He didn't bother trying to put on a smile. Theo wasn't exactly used to talking with other children his age. He also wasn't sure what to think of this kid's attitude. Why was their voice so cheery and casual? (( magisterkami))

Before she got out, Lucy tries to wiped the tears from her eyes. She's been looking out the window, trying to hide the fact that she has been very depressed with what has happened to her. With how things are going, it's to keep going and stay positive....right?
As she got out, Lucy tries her best to smile. It's always good to try to think about the positives in future, right? She looks around to other children there. She felt a little nervous because it felt like she might be one of the youngest. Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Right...? However, Lucy may not want to interrupt anyone.
"Oh dear..." she spoken to herself nervously. She looked around to see who she can talk to.

Merle gave a slight smile back at the bird-guy, who seemed pretty reserved. Aw, well. But it seemed reasonable enough. Huge burgundy ears appeared in the honeybadger child's vision, and he flicked his eyes from his new friend and the newcomer. "Heyy," he called out across the room, more gently, "do you wanna come sit with us, too?" (( C♡c♡ + ChibiGissy ))

Red walked up to the front of the building, looking up at it blankly. Fenn buzzed in the back of their mind. "I know.." They muttered internally. "but he saaaaaid. It makes more sense for the host to meet them first.." Hopping in place a few times, they began to approach the building before giving a large leap and grabbing onto the door frame. After swinging their legs a few times they kicked forward and let go. 'This was it, I guess.'

What's your names?"

The girl's emerald hair was tied back in a messy knot as she wrung out the wet cloth in between her fingers, glancing back over at the stack of dishes as she did so. Carmella had been spending the day in preparation for the new litter's arrival, which fell onto the welcoming committee's shoulders as well. However, her chores were taking a bit longer than the child had hoped, and down the hall rung the voices of the newcomers while she had yet to return the dinnerware to its proper cabinets. As she buzzed around the kitchen and back, a half-hearted sigh escaped her before untying her hair back to its original position.
While feeling a tinge of excitement with the new children, a pang of anxiety quickly followed behind her steps. Jiang's experiences with other kids had been highly mixed, but at least now that she was typically considered one of the elders among the kids now, they often treated her with a hint of respect for busying herself with the committee. Of course, others had also shown indifference to her for this reason back at the former orphanage, as she was seen as too much of a stick in the mud. She had only been acquainted with Crawford's for a measly two weeks, and had yet to form a solid opinion on her change of surroundings. Admittedly, Jiang felt just a bit lonely being sent here without any familiar faces in the halls, but perhaps she could bond with the new faces for the same reason.
With the last plate being put away, Jiang swiftly patted herself off and straightened her clothes. As she strolled down the hallway, her pace got quicker with every step before reaching the corner where the children were, only to "cooly" slow herself once again as to not appear desperate or rushed. Of course, most of the children had been talking among their peers, already forming pairs as she watched them chatter along. Her heart sank a level, but put up a smile regardless of the fact. They had only been here for a few minutes, surely. She couldn't let herself be discouraged already.
Jiang stepped out among them, speaking aloud, "Hello, I am Jiang. I am apart of the welcoming committee as well, if you have questions you may ask me." Just as she finished, one of the children leaped up and swung from the door frame in a seemingly dangerous fashion. "W-wait!" she motioned to the child's direction, only to notice their bushy tail flowing behind them. Oh! Of course, how silly of her. She took a breath and approached them, "Careful, I don't know how Carmella takes to such. Nor do I know how sturdy this building is just yet..." her pupils wandered to the door frame, a hint of worry within them. "May I ask your name?"

Nor do I know how sturdy this building is just yet..." her pupils wandered to the door frame, a hint of worry within them. "May I ask your name?" "Huh?" Looking towards the sound of the exclamation Red found an older girl talking to them. "Look around Gray's age, maybe she'll like th'm."
"Oh.." They took the words of warning the girl issued as a light scolding and rubbed their fist on their chin tail shifting around swiftly but minutely. "I guess.." Their voice trailed off as they looked away. As soon as the girl asked for their name there was a moment of thinking. In terms of paperwork and documents theyd be recognized as "Vulpe." As far as their name went they were known as "Red," but there was the issue of all the other names. This sort of thing was mistaken for a lot of other things, and the more they thought about this question the more they wondered if they could mention this fact to the person before them. Would she believe it, or would she see it as some sort of possession or psychosis? "Uh.. C'n call me Red, I gueess..." They shrugged, looking away. Fenn continued to make a slight uproar at the new social possibilities, his feelings of excitement blending into Red's feelings of uncertainty causing their body to shake minorly. Their tail swishing around almost violently caused it to look worse as it jerked their body back and forth rather noticeably. "She looks to be rather nice, I gather, I do believe it is possible she would understand in some way." Fenn remarked internally. He and Vulpe remained hopeful, though Vulpe's hopefulness was through ignorance, as the others usually hid negative interactions from her.

"Red?" she smiled, "I'm Jiang if you didn't hear earlier, nice to meet you. I'm pretty new here as well; I've only been around for two weeks now." While initially Jiang thought the interaction had started well, the sound of Red's fur swishing back and forth caught sound, and she soon noticed their tail flailing in a fit. Did I do something? A pang of guilt struck her gut, even if she had yet to find a specific source. I might have killed their fun...
"Uh, so you can jump really high huh?" Feeling a bit worried about her words earlier, she tried to make light of the situation at hand. "I can fly! I mean, maybe we make a game or something during free time. You can jump as high as you can or something and maybe I can try catching you..." She shrugged, trying to offer a grin to the child as she did so, "If you want to, that is." Her eyes scanned them up and down, trying to find another possible conversation starter on their person. Upon taking a closer look, Jiang couldn't help but notice the quality of their clothing being that it seemed decently kept and rather dandy compared to some of the other children. It wasn't uncommon for the orphans to have mismatched patches sewn onto the undone seams of their threads; it was actually commonplace. Yet she couldn't spot such a thing on Red from the front, and even their hair was combed in a tidy fashion.
"Oh, your clothes are so nice..." she remarked, a bit fascinated by the display, "You even have a red tie. It's really pretty!" Jiang nodded, entranced by the vibrant color.

The Affliction.. I don't belong here. I don't want to be here. I'm not like these fleas. I know myself. I'm not one of them. Sylvie pondered to herself. "ahem" the carriage driver coughed while waiting for the rest of the children to get off the carriage. The air had a disturbing scent of mammals, birds, and invertebrate. Despite this, Sylvie exited the carriage with her feet planted on the ground and wrist over her mouth. Before approaching the orphanage, she put on her masquerade mask. Sylvie was currently uninterested in association at the current moment, which made her instinctively move to an area lacking potential association. Without introducing herself or a proper greeting to any of the children around, Sylv quickly walked past the entrance of the orphanage building on her toes. Sylvie gave a slight glance at the Keepers, but quickly looked away. Sylvie ended up looking for uncrowded areas of any sort, however, it seemed as if the corner was already being occupied by a spider-person. Unsure about where to place herself given her current position, Sylvie backed into a wall adjacent to the occupied corner. She spent her time fiddling with her fingers for a bit as if perhaps she was grabbing or scooping something.
