"Why-!" Octavia took a frustrated step out of the carriage. "You rowdy children-!" Another ornery step. "Have you no idea how to act in the presence of a lady?!" She planted her feet down on the ground and readjusted her skirt and feathery ruff before begrudgingly making her way towards the orphanage's entrance. This wouldn't be her first time staying at Crawford, though Octavia's memories of the previous encounter were so vague it might as well had been. She had stayed for what felt like less then a month, having been quickly scooped up by her mother and father like it were a match made in heaven.
But there were complications. And a return had to be made as if she were a blouse with the hem stitched wrong. Though this made Octavia ponder whether or not return policies stretched over the span of several years. She crumpled her nose and flicked one of her earrings idly in her distaste. How dare they leave her here, in this shabby home filled with grubby children. She entered the building and then looked over the grubby children in question. At least they were easy to tell apart. Varying height and animal-like characteristics were easy identifiers, a silver lining to the whole ordeal.

A young girl with pure white hair and expencive lookin clothes got out of the carriage carefully, trying not to fill with dirt her shoes and looked intenselly to the building in front of her. ' This is it' she thought'.This was the place she was going to stay for now on. The Crawford orphanage. Renette looked at her hands and touched the pair of bear ears on the top of her head. All of her life she tought that people like her were a rare sight and that they were something bad. It was natural for her to think that way, since her parents had raised her locked inside a home to avoid others to know about her existence. Apperently, people with the affliction weren more common than she thought, making her wonder the reason why her parents never let her to go outside of their home. She hoped that in this place, she could get treatment that is equal with the other people there. After all, she was one of them. Renette slowly walked inside the building, avoiding any eye contact with anyone, and simply stood there, staring blankly to others. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ These past few days had been extremely tiring for Ethan, due to having to prepare for the new bunch of children that were coming. He looked as tired as ever. Looking back at his list of duties, he had few things to get done for this day, but for some reason he felt even more tired. He took a small break and peeked over at the group of all the children that had arrived. Seeing all these children talking with each other and chating in the front hall felt somewhat nostalgic to him but he himself didnt know the reason why. Suddently he made eye contact with a girl with white hair and bear ears. The girl was starring at him, like she was judging his soul. Without saying anything, Ethan left the room completely creeped out and went to continue his dailly duty rutine

"Red?" she smiled, "I'm Jiang if you didn't hear earlier, nice to meet you. I'm pretty new here as well; I've only been around for two weeks now." While initially Jiang thought the interaction had started well, the sound of Red's fur swishing back and forth caught sound, and she soon noticed their tail flailing in a fit. Did I do something? A pang of guilt struck her gut, even if she had yet to find a specific source. I might have killed their fun... "Uh, so you can jump really high huh?" Feeling a bit worried about her words earlier, she tried to make light of the situation at hand. "I can fly! I mean, maybe we make a game or something during free time. You can jump as high as you can or something and maybe I can try catching you..." She shrugged, trying to offer a grin to the child as she did so, "If you want to, that is." Her eyes scanned them up and down, trying to find another possible conversation starter on their person. Upon taking a closer look, Jiang couldn't help but notice the quality of their clothing being that it seemed decently kept and rather dandy compared to some of the other children. It wasn't uncommon for the orphans to have mismatched patches sewn onto the undone seams of their threads; it was actually commonplace. Yet she couldn't spot such a thing on Red from the front, and even their hair was combed in a tidy fashion. "Oh, your clothes are so nice..." she remarked, a bit fascinated by the display, "You even have a red tie. It's really pretty!" Jiang nodded, entranced by the vibrant color. "I see.." Red muttered slouching with their hands in their pockets. "Tha's nice." They remarked towards her name. "Fly'n's cool." Their hand then reached for one of the girl's in a clear attempt to shake it. "My, my, why, many thanks to you." They now smiled a gnarled smile, and their tail's movements now stopped dead. "I do believe it was acquired from our mother." After a small beat they continued. "Well... It could have been our father, I do not quite recall. Not that it matters much who, they are both deceased either way." Their voice was now conveyed slightly different, with a noticeable southern accent. Drawing back their hand they straightened their jacket. "We have also brought along a dress among what few belongings we were able to maintain possession of. Bru does try to be sure we take care of our belongings, so everything is in rather fine shape, you see." Looking up at Jiang they noted over her appearance. "I cannot help but notice yours are rather well kept, if i do say so myself." They grabbed gently at her shirt. "A rather pleasant color as well. It looks appealing with your skin color."

While Gus was chewing on his rock, he heard new people enter as he looked over at them. Both of them looked older than him which gave him some comfort as his inner friendly side wanted to break free, he decided to walk closer to the new people, hoping that at least one of them would want to interact with him, he yet again causes big noise with his heavy steps, drooling on the rock he is keeping in his mouth. ( Penguin & titee) Renette, who was staring at her suroundings with a stiff look on her face, met gazes with a man who seemed to be the janitor and stared at him intensely. The man had seemed to be busy and quickly left, leaving Renette coldly starring into nothing in particular. It was at that time when she heard some loud stomping sounds. Curious for the sounds source, Renette turned around, only to see a child with elephant features drooling over something in his mouth. It didnt take too long for her to realise that the child was drooling over a rock. " Excuse me, but why are you eating a rock? " she asked Gus with a weirded expression her face. Ethan, still creeped out from the polar bear girl in the hall, quickly tried to get back to work. He was surprised to hear another person talking to him. He turned around to see Genevieve, that nanny who seemed to be extremely happy and excited about this current situation. Ethan tried to give out a small smille " Uh yea, its pretty nice to know that those children are able to stay somewere were they can be safe...so um, i think it is going to be fun." He said not in a very excited tone, mainly cause he was tired.

"Oh great..." Theo should have seen this coming. Well, no problem. He just had to choose his words carefully. "Theo. Just Theo." He glanced at the honeybadger, expecting to hear their name.

Octavia cringed at the sight, though at least she could take respite in Renette's similar reaction. It seemed at least one other person here had class. "I'll be seconding that question," Octavia stated plainly. She then leaned against the wall to steady herself. "Why ARE you chewing on that- that filthy thing. Weren't you taught any manners at all?" She overlooked Gus. He dressed much shabbier than what would ever be acceptable back home. Or rather- her former home. Where dresses were changed seven times a day and lounging around looking demure was practically a competitive sport. Octavia let out a long groan. Just looking at these children was depressing.

"Hi, there!" He handed out an open palm, offering a handshake. Finally, someone decided to approach him despite his loud exterior! Hopefully, he won't screw this one up. "Th'name's Lou!" He greets with a small chuckle. Gear took the older boy's hand and shook it. "Lou, huh? Call me Gear!" He replied, absentmindedly grabbing the gear around his neck with his free hand. "This place is pretty big. Is this your first time at an orphanage?" While he was waiting for a response... "Ah!" Gear slightly squeaked, letting go of Lou's paw and inching a bit closer towards him to allow room for the bird lady to walk through. He waited until she passed before leaning over to whisper in Lou's ear. "She was glaring at us like that the whole ride! I could've sworn she was preying on us."

Flashing an apologetic smile for Theo being surly, Merle's eyes shone at Lucy's enthusiasm. "I'm Merle, Merle Voss~ My surname means 'fox'," they said slowly, pointing with an open hand at the dapper orphan who had just swung in. "...but funnily enough, I'm a honeybadger kid, hehe..." "Oh, but being a dragon would've been so cool..." Merle became aware that they had been staring, awestruck, for longer than three seconds, and brought their attention back to their new friends. "So... What are you, Lucy? Your ears seem really interesting! And - can you fly, too, Theo?" (( ChibiGissy + C♡c♡ )) ((refers to Miki Sayaka + norimo as well)

Lucy listen to the two and what their names are. Interesting enough, it seems Merle is an animal almost anyone can be famililar with. Inside, she felt like the odd one out, given what she is, it's pretty obvious her kind is not too well known.
She looked over for a moment and see who said that. Oh, a dragon! That's also interesting!
"Oh!" Lucy looked back at Merle "I didn't knew what I was until recently because my....parents never told me..." while trying her best to still smile, Lucy looked down before looking back at her new commrads "But someone on the streets said I was a Long eared Jerboa, hence why my eays are so loong, heheheh!" Lucy chuckled a bit, she looked towards Theo, wondering the same thing Merle is wondering

This gotta be my third orphanage er somethin' like that." His small eyes widened at the question, surprised it was going well, that is, until someone besides him ruined it. He giggles to himself, staring down at the feathered lady, up and about in a tizzy. "If that's what ya call a lady," he riles himself up in fit of laughter at his own joke. Gear turned close to him, his ear perked up to listen intently. "She got no business preyin' on someone like me. I could take her with my hands tied behind my back!" He bragged proudly. His cocky attitude seems to often get the best of him.

Theo noticed how Merle's gaze shifted over to the girl named Jiang. Lucy also seemed to be taking inerest. Wait... what was that? "Oh!" Lucy looked back at Merle "I didn't knew what I was until recently because my....parents never told me..." while trying her best to still smile, Lucy looked down before looking back at her new comrades "But someone on the streets said I was a Long eared Jerboa, hence why my ears are so loong, heheheh!" Shit.... should he be honest? They didn't seem to notice his left wing... He shifted in his seat a little. "I have wings, don't I?" Theo left it at that, remembering what Merles said a few seconds prior. He looked at them both with his golden eyes, almost glaring. "Are you jealous of another's affliction?.... Does this kind of life make you happy or something?" (( ChibiGissy n' magisterkami ))

"Oh," Jiang's shoulders drooped at the mention of the child's parents, "I'm sorry to hear that." While the sullen info was conveyed a bit blunt, she noticed a slight accent attached to the manner in which they spoke then. She quirked a brow, finding intrigue in her contemporary's pronunciation. "A dress? You should show me sometime," her hands clasped together as her pupils beamed. Jiang hadn't owned any dresses herself, being much too shy to don such apparel and risk the hardened gazes of others. Regardless, it didn't necessarily erase the interest she had in the garment itself.
She was pulled from her stupor upon realizing Red outstretched their hand and inspect her own bearings. Jiang cocked her head to the side, before her cheeks grew hot at the mention of the appeasing color in comparison to her own features. "Oh! Thank you!" One of her feet traced a circle on the floor as she scratched the back of her head. The girl quickly sought to straighten herself out until a nearby voice caught her attention.
Cool? Her mind buzzed with all varieties of white noise for a moment's time before gathering her thoughts. Perhaps the new arrivals were actually a hospitable bunch of fellows. Sneaking a glance over her shoulder, she searched for the source of appraisal finding it to be a wide-eyed child with ears that were possibly... a badger's? She had only judged in comparison to their bottom claws, but it was very well up for debate.
"Are you acquainted with anyone else, Red? Are you interested in talking to any of the others?" Jiang asked, peering around the room as she did so.

Archie nearly screamed as the rabbit child sprinted over to him, the spider boy jumping backwards and hitting the wall. He jolted forward slightly, still in panic mode after he thought he may have hit somebody with his abdomen, but in reality it was merely a coat hanger. As the boy attempted to calm his nerves, he found the rabbit boy, who had introduced himself as Earnest, seemed to be waiting eagerly for some sort of response out of him. "U-u-uh...." Archie began stuttering before venom-filled drool began to drip from his lip. His face flushed red as he felt the liquid running down his chin and quickly grabbed the napkin tucked into the collar of his shirt to wipe the saliva away. He opted to keep the napkin in front of his mouth when responding, his timid nature bursting forth. "H-h-hi.... I'm Archie.." The boy avoided eye contact with Earnest, looking at the ground instead as the blush continued spreading across his face as he tried to think of a question for the boy. "U-uhm... d-do we get socks here..?" He inquired, looking down towards his own feet, frowning at the only pair of socks he owned.
Machi giggled at the lively bunch of children pouring into the room, all of whom seemed to be getting along rather well for the most part. Scanning over them all was a sight to behold. The variety of animal species was apparent in these new orphans, and she couldn't help but ponder what sort of abilities these children possessed. But instead of intimidate them by bombarding them with questions, she opted to stand near Carmella as the group continued to mingle. Earnest's grin grew wider, his shoulder's hunching slightly as more giggles shook his frame. He tipped his head back and let out a loud "HA!" Before starting to bounce up and down again, his laughter barely contained in his small frame. "What a silly question! So silly!" He covered his mouth with both hands, still bouncing as he started to twirl in a circle, his dress billowing around him. "Oh my!" He seemed to realize what he was doing and stopped his laughter almost immediately, his foot returned to tapped with his heels at least planted back on the carpet. "Oh my. 'm sorry!" His smile peeked out on the edges behind his hands. "Yes, socks! Of course! One pair for each child!" His ears twitched wildly at the conversations happening around them, his eyes practically glowing with childish amusement. He pointed towards a fancy looking vulture girl who had caught his eye from her expensive wardrobe. "Let's go make friends, Archie! Come on, come!" He extended his other hand eagerly and waited to see if Archie would take it.
Carmella took note of her staff member's giddy attitude. It wasn't uncommon, since all the staff had been orphans themselves (whether they were aware or not) for them to have some mixed emotions when the children arrived. The joy of seeing the young ones be with people like themselves always stirred her with a sense of odd pride. "Some are quite rowdy," She noted, her voice light. "I'm glad to see them be in such high spirits." She glanced up at the clock, her brow slightly furrowed. "Let's just hope Head Mistress doesn't spoil their fun too soon."

Renette agreed with the older girls words and nodded her head " I will have to agree. Eating rocks is not healthy at all, um Gus..? I know you are hungry, but maybe save some appetite for dinner?" Renette said as politely as she could. The small child asked her if she wanted some of his rock full of saliva. She tried to keep conpossure with the hopefull looking boy " Uh, no thanks. It dont eat rocks..." she said keeping the weirded out expression on her face. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ethan smilled at Geneviene. " Oh, ok, sure. I was planning on cleaning anyways" He said, dispite beeing already tired. The woman's optimism was really big, which was really funny to him considering he was always a pessimistic kind of person. He really hoped that the new kids would at least respect him this time and not litter around all the time. He began helpimg Geneviene out with cleaning.

Archie's face was as red as a beet at Earnest's teasing for his question. He mentally scolded himself, knowing he should have asked a 'normal' question like where the rooms were or something to that extent. The boy gripped the bottom of his shirt as he avoided eye contact with the rabbit boy, only coming back to attention when Earnest's hand shot towards him. Archie flinched, recoiling back slightly before he processed what Earnest's request was. He gripped tighter at his shirt and swallowed hard. They won't like you. They'll think you're a freak. Don't bother, stay in the corner. Archie reached out and hesitantly took hold of Earnest's hand. "O-o-okay..."
"Indeed~!" Machi responded once she realized Carmella had been speaking to her. "It's cute to see a group of kids so eager to befriend one another. I would have imagined it would be like pulling teeth to get them to interact with one another. Nice to see a group of social butterflies~!" She chimed cheerily, rocking back and forth on the heels of her shoes. Carmella's last statement did leave a somewhat sour taste in her mouth. Machi didn't particularly want to see the children's fun ended so soon. Listening to them simply spill information from their mouth was something the maid was keen on continuing, but she knew she had little power to keep the excitement from ending. "Oh yes, it would be quite the shame." She responded, still smiling despite her tone shifting to a more neutral attitude. "But at least they're getting acquainted now. It will make living here that much easier, yes~?" She cooed, her chipper tone returning.
