Earnest skidded into the room with a bowl of lettuce in hand, grinning widely that he got to eat two dinners (one with the rest of the orphans and one with the new ones). He ran over to his bed and hopped into place, scooping the plane lettuce into his mouth as though it were sweets.

cassiroll "Aye, that sounds like a challenge!" Lou spoke from around the corner, approaching the two. He folded his arms and his questionable grin stretched across his lips once more. "Challenges can be fun!" Sylvie shuddered at the thought that the strange mole woman would eat her due to her belief in superstition. "I don't know a Hattie" she replied. As she was starting to back away slowly, the dog kid came from around the corner. "A challenge?..." Her enthusiasm began to slowly explode, "heh.. I'm all about the challenge. Yeah!... YEAH!" Sylvie directed her attention to Lou with a challenge, "If I get to see more than you do, then I win. How about that?" She then ran straight toward the woman leaping above her head, "You can't tell me what to do old lady!" While mid-air, she revealed her snake eye to use her third eye ability. Sylvie was able to spot one of the pitfalls due to the temperature being colder underneath. "I'll go where ever I want to go, and you can't stop me!" Instead of avoiding the pitfalls, Sylvie went straight down. This time she was determined to land correctly, even if she was jumping into certain danger.

"You get back in yer room 'n stop messin' about in other delinquents business!" She had little time to scold the newcomer, however, as it seemed Sylvia had taken straight to diving into her hole. "Bloody fool," She muttered under her breath before disappearing beneath the surface. She located Sylvia in the pitch black darkness in only a matter of seconds, upon her only a few more after that. "Yah think yah can just get outta my line ah sight so easy?" She hissed, practically on top of the girl. "I will eat yer flesh and spit out yer bones!"

Red lay in a pile on their bed staring, dazed, straight ahead. The others would surely ruin this. The staff would surely already be informed, they would surely have record of their situation, and that was more than enough people knowing. It's doubtful that the other kids would really understand, in Red's mind, they felt the other kids should not know. Despite this they couldn't really control the other four, they couldn't control any signs that they weren't quite right. Such as now, their senses dimmed. While they could see and hear the world around they couldn't move, they couldn't react. All of their thoughts trailed off and got lost. Soon enough they were gone.
After their body lay, unmoving, in a heap for a few minutes someone else came to front to a mess of light and sound. A location they didn't know. People they didn't know. Continuing to lay still, not wanting to bring any attention to any of them, the confused Vulpe tried to figure out just where they all were now. "Is late... When we gonna go home so we sleep? Where grownup who can tell where home is?"

Sylvie impulsively said backing away from the woman. It seemed that her superstition was true, the old woman was out to specifically eat her. The thought was so ironic that she had to laugh it off, "I had the feeling you would say a thing like that, but that thing doesn't scare me anymore!" She tried to balance herself before speaking again, "You're just like that one dog I beat up when I was a kid, and I'm Sylvie, a girl who never back away from a challenge! You hear that!?" Again, revealing her snake eye she tried to analyze the area, but mostly kept track of the woman and the surrounding walls. She also used her enhanced smell to track the woman, "Eck, you stink too.." Sylvie then began to try to distance herself from the woman.

She went towards the other with the intent to push them up against the wall with her powerful hands. Although she'd lost her claws long ago, the strength in her palms and arms was as fierce as ever. If she managed to pin the girl down, it was unlikely she'd be able to spring free.

Merle's eyes widened a little, cheeks glowing with a slight rose. "Oh - Yeah! You're welcome, of course" - the quickest of pauses - "Jiang, right?" ...Ahhh, the dragon was walking off. Guess she's also busy, since she's part of the welcoming committee, isn't she?The badger turned back to grin at their Jerboa buddy. "Yes, indeed! That definitely makes us friends~" Then, "Wow, Lucy, you're already done with supper~? I haven't even begun to eat, eheh." They flashed a concerned look at the bird boy buddy from before as they said this. And then, slowly, began eating. "Were you very hungry, Lucy?" Merle was holding their platter quite gently, not enough for it to simply fall out of their hands, but it wasn't held like it was guarded, either. "If you're still hungry, I could share this hot-crossed bun with you! ...It's butterless, though. Oops." Merle's ears flopped sheepishly. Attachments:

Creator’s sake.
Then again, this is what Theo had always pictured an afflicted kid to be like. Nervous, resistant…. Everyone he talked to until then was trying to put on a smile despite who they were. It was kind of relieving in a way to see Archie so anxious.
“Fine,” Theo shrugged, “if you say so. Who am I to tell you otherwise anyway?” He reached under his baggy shirt and pulled out an apple. “Just thought since I grabbed extra and all-”

"Why!" Octavia stomped her foot. "You're insisting on having me carry my luggage to the third floor? And you're having me eat my dinner in my room like some kind of prisoner?!" Octavia's feathers stood on end, causing her ruff to fluff up in agitation. "That is no way to treat a lady I will have you know!" She gave another stomp for added emphasis, only to find that everyone had since moved on. She was left with no choice but to tend to her belongs, many of which she had already given up, by herself.
As for eating in her room- why Octavia would never think to do such a thing. She would either eat at a proper place setting or starve to death.
Octavia lugged her precious cargo up the stairs to the third floor bedrooms, huffing as she did so. The young lady was quite out of shape as exerting herself was certainly not expected of her at her old home. As she climbed up the flight downy feathers from her ruff found their way on to the stairs, the ever persistent itching on her arms and hands worsened. "Curse this orphanage-!" She hissed under her breath between pants as she finally made her way to the top of the staircase. The seventeen year old let out a long breath and slumped over her baggage before taking her time to recollect herself. If any of those noisy younglings saw her in this state she would never hear the end of it, after all.
Once in a proper state Octavia enter the bedroom. She hadn't known what her expectations of it were, but she certainly wasn't impressed either way.

Earnest giggled happily as the girl he'd wanted to greet earlier found her way into their room. He was up on his bed in a flash, standing and waving his a single hand energetically as he continued to chomp on his lettuce while he spoke. "Bird lady, bird lady!" He cheered, bits of green falling from his mouth.

Jiang's head whipped to Theo's direction, her voice flat and stern, "You took an extra? I know it isn't exactly easy going possibly skipping meals due to budgeting, but you do realize you might be taking that out of another kid's mouth right?" The girl's brows were tightened, a hint of irritation stirred in her voice before taking a breather. "I'm not going to tell anyone, but if it becomes a habit I might. You're new so I'll give you some space, but if your stomach really hurts next time," she shoveled her last spoonful of mashed potatoes in her mouth, before dropping the utensil on her platter with a bit of a clang, "tell me."
With that, Jiang rose to her feet before shuffling to set the platter aside her bed. For a moment she had worried about losing her composure over the misstep. It wasn't as if such conflict was anything new, but rather the fact that it was so drearily old that it pushed her buttons from the tiring familiarity. Not only did the children neglect those around them, but they often ended up in a bigger pinch if they were caught. It was a mess, really, and if it could be avoided she would prefer it so.
"I'll give you part of mine next time," she flopped on her back, staring up at the ceiling. Her upper arms suffered from swelling sores that ached under her sleeves, but alas she ignored it as she continually gazed above.

"Good." Archie spoke, flatly, as he turned his head away from both Theo and Jiang as the girl scolded the other boy. Archie hugged his front two legs closed to his chest as he stared at the wall, quickly bringing the rest of his legs close to his body as well, as though to take up as little space as possible. Not that that was an easy task given his affliction. Once the girl finished berating Theo, Archie spoke up once more.
"You can leave me alone now." He spoke up. "I don't wanna talk to anybody."

Theo looked to Jiang, “When there is a next time, you won’t even know."
“Geez, fine,” Theo got up and took a bite out of the apple. His feelings weren’t hurt. So what if his first time trying to reach out to someone else didn’t go too well? It didn’t matter to him. At least that’s what he told himself. Theo almost reached his bed when he heard something going on outside. He rushed to the nearest window and looked down to see a few other new arrivals (snake and hyena)… and another staff member? “I thought no one was allowed outside at night…”
His mouth gaped open. "What-?" Was this a fight? Were there kids besides him looking to sneak out? If that was the case, they completely botched it up. Ugh. What if this would make things harder for him? Theo gritted his teeth as he continued to watch them from the window.

"Oh, thank you!" Lucy chimed "And yes. I was very hungry, indeed. Before I got here, I didn't had much to eat. I feel very grateful that there's more here then it was for me on the streets, heheheh!"
Lucy had a big grin on her face, feeling that there will be hope.

I admire it hehehehe!!!" He threw himself in a fit of laughter yet again and stared at the lady holding the young girl down. "Oi, how many kids have you eaten?" he declared his question, holding back a soft laugh. He seems to be having the time of his life watching the events unfold in front of him.
